It uses a "stop"' format, with multiple stops over the week. Teams accumulate points in each stop. 3x3 is played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock. The first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, wins. The FIBA 3×3 Nations League is a qualification route to the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup 2025. Conference winners will qualify for the event which is Sept. 17-21 in Xiong An, China. Edwards and Fulwiley will have Richmond's Rachel Ullstrom, WNBA free agent Serena Sundell, Tennessee's Zee Spearman and TCU's Taylor Bigby on their USA team. Missouri assistant coach Julia Ford will be head coach of the team. All games will be available to watch on FIBA3x3's YouTube channel. The first game is 1:30 p.m. ET against Canada on July 21, with a second at 4:10 against the Cayman Islands. On July 22, Edwards plays against Argentina at 3:20 p.m. ET. South Carolina women's basketball's Joyce Edwards leads United States to FIBA 3×3 title
South Carolina women's basketball forward Joyce Edwards finished with another FIBA first-place finish. Edwards, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, participated in the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference in Punta Arenas, Chile, where she won with the United States on July 27. She led in scoring with 7.9 points per game over her 11 games in the tournament and had four double-figure scoring games. Edwards played alongside former teammate MiLaysia Fulwiley, who transferred from coach Dawn Staley's program to LSU in April. This comes not long after Edwards won gold with the United States on July 6 at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup title in Santiago, Chile. This event held six three-game tournaments from July 21-27. The United States won four of the six stops. Edwards played in four of the six stops, albeit not the same four. In Stop 5, she scored 23 points across two games. Edwards has claimed a title every time she has played for USA Basketball in an international competition. In 2024, before she played for the Gamecocks, she was part of the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup team and the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup gold medal teams. She was named MVP of the U18 AmeriCup. Edwards led South Carolina in scoring in 2024-25 with 12.7 ppg, but her scoring ability is needed even more now that Ashlyn Watkins will not return this season. Watkins, a 6-2 forward announced on July 25 that she is taking a year off from basketball. The U.S. team, made up of college players, trailed 66-65 heading into the fourth quarter. "What a performance by our team. Knew it would be a tough physical game. It was what we expected," U.S. coach Kara Lawson said. "Brazil is a wonderful team. The power they have in the frontcourt gave us some challenges. Our team continued to fight, and we felt like if we could wear down with our depth a little bit maybe in the fourth quarter we could pull away." Dantas, who plays for the Indiana Fever, scored 35 points to lead Brazil. Nascimento had 24 points and Kamilla Cardoso added 19. The rest of the Brazilian team scored six points. The U.S. trailed 47-45 at the half despite Blakes scoring 17 points in the opening two quarters. The Americans won the AmeriCup in 2019 and 2021, but lost to Brazil in the gold medal game in 2023.
