KUCHING, June 23 (Bernama) -- The late Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was fondly remembered for her loving heart and gentle demeanour. Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) deputy president Datuk Doreen Mayang said that during her time working alongside Juma'ani, who served as SABATI president, she witnessed her unwavering dedication and compassion for charitable work. 'She always offered us guidance in fulfilling our roles as the wives of elected representatives. 'She was also passionate about traditional crafts such as keringkam and songket, and contributed greatly to promoting them to the wider public,' she told reporters after paying her last respects at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak here today. Meanwhile, Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah described Juma'ani as an exemplary wife — gentle in demeanour yet steadfast in conveying guidance and counsel. 'This loss is deeply felt by everyone in the ministry, as she was actively involved in supporting programmes for women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), and regularly attended the state-level Women's Day celebrations. 'We will miss her presence and personal touch at every event. We pray that her soul will be placed among the righteous and the pious,' she said. KUCHING (June 23): The late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang was the pillar of strength for her husband Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Governor Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said in a statement that Juma'ani supported Abang Johari's political career spanning over 48 years. 'In facing various challenges and demands of state leadership, she has always been an invaluable source of encouragement and support. 'The English proverb states, 'Behind every great man, there is a great woman' – an expression that accurately describes her role of as the wife, friend, and loyal supporter of the Premier,' the Governor was quoted as saying in a press statement from Astana Negeri. He said Juma'ani was an active figure in the field of welfare, especially through her role as the president of The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati). Her contributions to empower charitable organisations and improve the well-being of the community were greatly appreciated and would always be remembered, he said. 'The late Juma'ani is an example of a wife who is steadfast, responsible, and fully understands the trust and responsibility borne by her husband as the head of state leadership. 'She has contributed directly to the harmony of the family and the stability of the state of Sarawak,' he stressed. He added Juma'ani's passing is a great loss not only to his family but also the people of Sarawak. Nanta said her passing is a profound loss not only to the Abang Johari's family but also to the people of Sarawak, who cherished her warmth and compassion. 'She was truly the Premier's source of strength. As the saying goes, 'Behind every successful man is a woman' and this rang true in her case,' he said. Nanta said this when met by reporters after launching the Periodic Works Balloting Ceremony for G1 to G4 Bumiputera Contractors under the Federal Road Maintenance Contract for Sarawak 2025 at a local hotel here today. 'May her soul be blessed, her sins forgiven, and her place among the righteous,' he wrote. Juma'ani, 76, passed away at a private medical centre in Kuching at 3.34am today. She was the daughter of Sarawak's second Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.

The Deputy Prime Minister said this was especially so in her efforts to empower women and communities in Sarawak. 'Her loss will not only be felt by her immediate family members, but she will also be mourned by all Sarawakians, who greatly appreciate her services and contributions over the years,' he said in a condolence message following her passing early this morning. Ahmad Zahid also described Juma'ani, who was the wife of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, as a devoted and steadfast companion who stood by her husband through all phases of his journey. 'Her passing is undoubtedly a profound and painful loss,' he added. Ahmad Zahid said he will visit the Premier and his family today to pay his respects and offer his condolences in person. 'God willing, I will represent the federal government to visit the family of the Premier this morning to convey my condolences and express the solidarity and prayers of all Malaysians for this deeply felt loss,' he said. Anwar extends condolences to Abang Johari after wife Juma'ani dies

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg following the death of the latter's wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma'ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang, early this morning. In a Facebook post, Anwar said he and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were saddened by the news and conveyed their prayers to the grieving family. 'Our thoughts are with the family of the late Juma'ani, especially Abang Jo, whom I had just met yesterday,' he said. 'May they remain patient and strong in facing this test,' he added. Juma'ani died at 3.34am today at Normah Medical Center in Kuching. Her last rites are set to be held between 10am and 12pm at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery following funeral prayers at Masjid Jamek, Petra Jaya, Kuching.
