SunSport understands that Hoops scouting chief Paul Tisdale has been paying close attention to the clash between Hammarby and Charleroi. But Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Hoops, who are set to add Jahmai Simpson-Pusey to an already crowded defensive department, are NOT looking for another central defender right now. Asked if Simpson-Pusey would be the last central defender to arrive, Rodgers told reporters: 'There are lots of links with various players, but yeah, I would see him being our last central defender.' For the record, Hammarby are insistent he isn't for sale any way this summer and the player himself said last night that he wasn't going anywhere. But Eriksson wasn't the only player of interest in last night's Conference League clash in Belgium - with at least three other stars taking part who are highly prized across Europe. Here SunSport runs them under the microscope: Jusef Erabi (Hammarby) Age: 22 Position: Striker Nationality: Swedish Swedish players are back in fashion at Celtic these days. It's a club where Henrik Larsson wrote himself into folklore and the likes of Johan Mjallby, Mikael Lustig, Magnus Hedman and Daniel Majstorovic served with distinction. 6 Jusef Erabi of Hammarby celebrates Credit: Shutterstock Editorial The Hoops have already added one Swedish international this summer in the form of Benjamin Nygren (even if Gustav Lagerbielke went in the other direction) and Sweden Under-21 star Jusef Erabi is another who could fit the bill. The powerful 6ft forward - called the 'Swedish Hulk' for his likeness to the Brazilian forward - was mentioned in connection with the Hoops back in January. He has also been linked with Serie A side Hellas Verona and French cracks Lens with a fee in the region of £4m and he was on target with the opening goal for the Swedes last night. Nicolas Kuhn reveals what was said in Brendan Rodgers' Celtic office after he'd sealed £17m Como transfer Nikola Stulic (Charleroi) Age: 23 Position: Striker Nationality: Serbian Dangerous frontman who scored one on the night and almost came up with the matchwinner for Charleroi in the final minute of the 90. 6 Charleroi's Nikola Stulic looks dejected Credit: Shutterstock Editorial A product of the Partizan Belgrade youth academy, the brawny Stulic stands 6ft2in tall. He been linked with a move to Lecce. With only a year left on his current deal, he could be snapped up as a bargain buy for less than £1m. Parfait Guaiagon (Charleroi) Age: 24 Position: No 10/winger Nationality: Ivory Coast The diminutive Ivory Coast star - he's only 5ft 7in - is an eye-catching little dribbler who can play wide or in the No 10 role. 6 Charleroi's Parfait Guiagon in training Credit: Shutterstock Editorial He's under contract until the summer of 2026, with the club having an option for a further year. Guaiagon was linked with Rangers back in 2023 when coming through the ranks at Maccabi Tel Aviv. He's represented by Dudu Dahan, who brought the likes of Nir Bitton, Beram Kayal and Liel Abada to the Hoops. 6 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

His side travelled to Belgium for the return leg of the second qualifying round tie after a goalless draw in Sweden last week. Victor Eriksson crucifie les Carolos, c'est la fin du rêve européen pour Charleroi. 😩 #RTLsports — RTL sports (@RTLsportsbe) July 31, 2025 Celtic's head of football operations, Paul Tisdale, was in attendance at the match, according to The Scottish Sun. Brendan Rodgers sent Tisdale to watch Eriksson, who is said to be available for a bargain £2 million fee this summer. Links to the Swede come as Celtic look set to secure the services of another central defender, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The 19-year-old will reportedly undergo a medical in Glasgow tomorrow ahead of joining the Scottish Premiership champions on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City. Simpson-Pusey has appeared six times for Pep Guardiola's first team and was named Premier League 2 Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season. He could become Celtic's seventh summer signing, following the arrivals of Ross Doohan, Kieran Tierney, Callum Osmand, Benjamin Nygren, Hayato Inamura and Shin Yamada.
