As many as 31,221 candidates will appear for the Mega DSC exams to be held at eight centres in the combined Nellore district. District in-charge Collector K. Karthik held a review meeting on Thursday with officials on the arrangements for conducting the DSC exams in the district from Friday (June 6) to June 30. He said that Section 144 has been implemented at the examination centres and strict security arrangements have been made. In view of the intense heat, the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) has been instructed to arrange ORS packets and necessary medicines at the examination centres so that the candidates do not face any difficulties. The officials from education, police, revenue, medical and electricity departments were asked to work in coordination and conduct the examinations in a peaceful atmosphere without any shortcomings. As the exams are being conducted online, the electricity department staff were instructed to take all precautions to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the exam centres. The APSRTC officials were advised to operate buses to reach the exam centres on time. Mobile phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices will not be allowed into the exam centres. The candidates will be allowed to enter the centre 90 minutes before the specified time, and they are advised to strictly follow the rules. In-charge Collector said, 'If candidates have any doubts regarding the DSC exams, they should contact 6281704160. Steps have been taken at the examination centres to correct any minor errors in the hall tickets. Those who do not have photos on the hall tickets should bring two passport photos to the centre. They should bring any identity proof along with the hall ticket.'

Three-year-old dies of suffocation while being given food

A three-year-old boy died reportedly of suffocation while being fed at Bagavathipuram near Tiruverumbur on the outskirts of Tiruchi city on Saturday. The Tiruverumbur police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS acting on a complaint lodged by the child's father K. Karthik. The police gave the name of the deceased child as K. Shailesh. The police said Karthik was taking care of his wife at a private hospital in Tiruchi after she was delivered of a second child. A relative was was giving food to Shailesh in its house when it suddenly suffered suffocation. The child was initially taken to a clinic and thereafter to a private hospital where the doctor declared that the child had died already. The body of the child was sent to the Government Hospital, Thuvakudi, for autopsy.
