Oppo flexes the K13x's durability
Oppo is gearing up to launch its K13x smartphone in India and the company is betting big on durability. The successor to last year's K12x was put through a series of durability tests and we also get to learn about its rigid internal structure. Oppo is taking a dual approach with the K13x – the outer midframe is made from plastic while the inner side features AM04 aluminum alloy. This is the same grade material used in high-performance aircraft. Oppo claims the new alloy frame is up to 10% more durable than alloys used in previous generation Oppo K-series phones. The K13x passed both SGS and MIL-STD durability certification tests and uses a Sponge Biomimetic Shock Absorption System, which implements elastic materials with high-energy absorption as a buffer between critical components and the phone's outer shell. K13x also passed real-world drop tests from 1.1m to 1.3m heights, landing on granite surfaces with the phone exhibiting no structural damage or performance issues. Oppo also specifically tested screen-down drop tests from 1.2m height and confirmed that the K13x continued to function seamlessly. Here's a demo of the test: K13x is also IP65 rated against water and dust. It features Oppo Crystal Shield glass just like on Oppo's flagship phones. Oppo is also bringing its Splash Touch, which promises responsive touch control even when the screen is used with wet hands. For colder scenarios, K13x also comes with Oppo Glove Touch for accurate and responsive screen control while wearing gloves or placed inside a waterproof case. While the phone can handle drops on its own, Oppo is also bundling its Anti-Drop Shield case for added protection. Oppo K13x's box and price range leak
Oppo started teasing the upcoming K13x a few days ago, billing it as a "durable performer" that is "designed for users who demand resilience and performance in equal measure". The brand hasn't revealed any of its specs yet, but does claim that it will have a long-lasting battery, ultra-fast charging, and some AI-powered camera features, of course. Today the K13x's box has been leaked ahead of its official unveiling, which is rumored to be coming by the end of this month (though Oppo hasn't yet issued invites). Along with the box, we also get an idea of what to expect in terms of pricing: the K13x will allegedly be under INR 15,000 in India. That makes perfect sense since this is going to be the successor to the K12x from last year, which launched at INR 12,999. It's still unclear if the K13x will receive a slight price hike or not, by the way. Unfortunately no specs have been outed for the K13x so far, even if it has already been certified and spotted in the Google Play Supported Devices list. So it's anyone's guess as to what it will bring to the table, but when we find out more about it, we'll let you know. Oppo K13x surfaces in Google Play, gets certified too
Oppo launched the K12x in August of last year, and it's now working on its aptly named successor, the K13x. This has already appeared in the Google Play Supported Devices database, and it's been certified for sale in India by BIS. Hence, it might actually launch sooner in the year than its predecessor, we assume. The K13x will join the K13 which was unveiled last month. Unfortunately, no specs of the K13x have been leaked so far, but since its release is nearing, we're likely to hear more about it soon.
