Schools rugby fixtures: Pretoria derby a welcome break from the books
Affies can climb the rankings while all other top seven schools take a break. Affies will look to climb from fourth in the current schools rugby rankings, as they are the only school in the top seven with a fixture this weekend. They will host 29th-ranked Pretoria Boys' High in a derby that headlines a fairly quiet weekend, due to exams being written in some schools. It offers somewhat of a breather after last weekend was action-packed, seeing Paarl Gim suffer their first defeat of the year. It came against local rivals Paarl Boys High, who overtook them on the rankings. In the other big derby in Gqeberha, Grey College beat Grey High 46-15, while in Joburg, Jeppe edged KES 39-31. However, this weekend sees two more King Price Schools Derby Series matches. Eighth-ranked Oakdale host Boland Landbou in the Western Cape while Hoërskool Upington take on Duineveld in the Northern Cape, ensuring there is still plenty of action this weekend. Selected fixtures Gauteng Affies v Pretoria BH Eastern Cape Dale v Selborne Muir v Grey HS Nico Malan v Brandwag (EP) Graeme v Queen's Bergsig v Marlow KwaZulu-Natal Glenwood v Maritzburg College Durban HS v KES Noordvaal Parktown v Jeppe Noordvaal Cup Waterkloof v Transvalia Rustenburg v Monument Noordheuwel v Menlopark Nelspruit v EG Jansen Zwartkop v HTS Middelburg Marais Viljoen v Klerksdorp Middelburg v Oos-Moot Kempton Park v Ligbron Lichtenburg v Pietersburg Die Anker v Montana Heidelberg v Secunda Hugenote (Springs) v Piet Retief Bergsig Ac v Randburg Potch Volkskool v Ermelo Potch Gim v Eldoraigne Jeugland v Merensky Western Cape Swartland v Punt Oakdale v Boland Landbou Oudtshoorn v Daniel Pienaar Durbanville v Outeniqua Tygerberg v Strand Milnerton v Stellenberg Parel Vallei v Melkbosstrand

Schools rugby fixtures: Paarl derby one of the biggest games of the year
Other big fixtures include Jeppe against KES, Waterkloof against Affies, and Grey High taking on Grey College. One of the most important school rugby fixtures plays out this weekend as Paarl Gim host Paarl Boys High. Paarl Gim have been unstoppable at the top of the schools rugby table this year, going unbeaten in 15 games. Their neighbours lie second and will want to carry momentum from their 51–8 win over SACS last weekend into this fixture. Especially as they lost 30–8 in the derby last year. But this is just one of the four King Price Schools Derby Series matches playing out. Jeppe High School for Boys' take on King Edward VII (KES) in a Joburg rivalry while Waterkloof host Affies in a Pretoria derby. In the Eastern Cape, Grey High School take on Grey College. However, Dale College's fixture against Graeme College may be an even larger game. Selected fixtures Eastern Cape Dale v Graeme Selborne v Queen's Grey HS v Grey College Daniel Pienaar v Nico Malan Marlow v Pearson Brandwag (EP) v DF Malherbe Stirling v Hudson Park Free State Jim Fouché v Goudveld Sentraal v Witteberg Fichardtpark v Voorttrekker (Beth) Diamantveld v Trio Duineveld v Bellville KwaZulu-Natal Glenwood v Parktown Northwood v Durban HS Maritzburg College v Pretoria BH Noordvaal Waterkloof v Affies Jeppe v KES Noordvaal Cup Menlopark v Monument Noordheuwel v Garsfontein Helpmekaar v Rustenburg Transvalia v Nelspruit Zwartkp v Marais Viljoen Klerksdorp v Oos-Moot Middelburg v Wesvalua HTS Middelburg v Ligbron Pietersburg v Hugenote (Springs) Ben Vorster v Montana Secunda v Lichtenburg Piet Retief v Die Anker Potch Volkskool v Randburg Merensky v Ermelo Dinamika v Potch Gim Jeugland v Bergsic Ac Western Cape Charlie Hofmeyr v Hermanus Swartland v Hopefield Outeniqua v Worcester Gim Oakdale v Paul Roos SACS v Brackenfell Stellenberg v Boland Landbou Milnerton v Bishops Paarl Gim v HJS Paarl BH Durbanville v HTS Belville Rondebosch v Drostdy DF Malan v Strand Parel Vallei v Wynberg

Transformer snag leads to 10-day outage at this village in Greater Noida
Greater Noida: A 10-day power outage in Rajpur village under Dhankaur block due to a snag in two transformers led to a protest on Monday even as power officials attributed the crisis to "dues" running into lakhs. The discom disconnected 15 connections. Later power supply was fully restored by Tuesday, Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) officials said. The protest was staged at NPCL office in Sigma 4 over "no power for nearly 10 days" due to two "faulty" transformers, villagers alleged. The sit-in protest, held under the leadership of Kisan Ekta Sangh, demanded immediate replacement of the transformers. Villagers who united under the leadership of Advocate Satish, state general secretary of KES, asked, "Why were those residents made to suffer who have been clearing their dues?" You Can Also Check: Noida AQI | Weather in Noida | Bank Holidays in Noida | Public Holidays in Noida While NPCL replaced the two transformers on Monday following the demonstration, discom officials claimed, 40 consumers — from among 1,000 residents — owed Rs 44 lakh in dues, adding, fourteen consumers had outstanding amounts of Rs 1 lakh, many pending since 2012. The protest was called off after talks between NPCL officials and farmers and assurance from the discom on installing new transformers. NPCL will organise a special camp on Sunday (June 29). "At the camp, residents will be able to pay their outstanding bills and apply for new electricity connections," NCPL (operations) vice-president Sarnath Ganguly told TOI. KES national president Soran Pradhan told TOI, "The transformers were not being replaced because some consumers in the village did not clear their outstanding dues. This angered the residents of the village. They maintained those who had cleared their dues should not be punished with no power supply. Hence, a protest was held to demand the immediate replacement of the two transformers and resumption of supply in the village. " Soran maintained that during this time, residents managed the water supply from hand pumps and slept on rooftops and under trees. "But this is also the norm in villages. Thankfully, no one fell ill," Soran said. While residents raised slogans against NPCL, the in-charges of Sector Beta-2 and Dankaur police stations reached the spot. Ganguly said NPCL had been compelled to disconnect the supply of 15 consumers due to non-payment, "despite multiple notices", as alarmingly, some individuals owe over Rs 1 lakh in dues. "However, after Monday's protest, the villagers have collectively agreed to prioritise bill payments to prevent financial losses to NPCL. Those without existing connections are also expected to regularise their electricity usage by applying for new connections during the upcoming camp," Ganguly said. "This comes after the villagers, many of whom were power defaulters since 2012, promised to clear their outstanding electricity dues and ensure timely payments," Ganguly said, adding that Rajpur village comprises 40 electricity consumers who collectively owe approximately Rs 44 lakh in unpaid bills.
