Training held for 1.12L teachers across State

Hyderabad: In a bid to enhance educational quality and empower educators, around 1,12,882 teachers were trained by the Education Department, Telangana. The initiative covered a total of 25,356 government, local body, TREIS, Model Schools, KGBVs, and URS institutions. To ensure optimal participation and coverage, the training was organised in three phases in a cascade mode, each spanning five days. A total of 1,12,882 teachers and Headmasters out of 1,16,084 completed the training. According to officials, the training programme was spearheaded by 5,605 resource persons and focused on key areas such as: Enhancing student learning outcomes- Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) for primary classes (1-5) and Learning Improvement Program (LIP) for secondary classes (6-9) innovative teaching-learning methodologies, assessment practices, digital literacy (AI, ICT, IFPs) departmental initiatives, creating a drug-free school environment and adolescent safety and empowerment.

Uttar Pradesh basic education minister (independent Charge) Sandeep Singh, on Monday said the state's school education infrastructure has undergone a large-scale transformation under Operation Kayakalp, with 1,32,852 council schools redesigned so far at a cost of ₹11,000 crore. In 2017, only 36% of schools met the required standards. This figure has now crossed 96%, he said. As part of improving access to girls' education, 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) have been upgraded to intermediate level. Among these, 683 schools now have smart classrooms, ICT labs, additional rooms, and hostels, Singh said. 'A new initiative called the 'Curiosity Program' in collaboration with IIT Gandhinagar has also been introduced to promote innovative learning.' The minister said that NCERT-based curriculum has been implemented through SCERT, and timely textbook delivery has been ensured. Under the 'Learning by Doing' initiative, students in 2,274 schools are being taught practical skills through four trades using 205 types of tools. Under the 'Nipun Bharat Mission', the government has launched two apps, 'Nipun Lakshya' for Classes 1–2 and 'Nipun Plus' for Classes 3–12. Over 1 crore children have received ₹1,200 each through direct benefit transfer (DBT). Singh said a budget of ₹447.80 crore has been allocated under the Chief Minister Model Composite School Scheme, and the foundation stone for 66 Chief Minister Abhyudaya Vidyalayas has been laid. The minister said Uttar Pradesh has emerged among the leading states in school education and termed the changes a major step towards building an empowered and educated society.

Lucknow: In a remarkable display of talent and environmental awareness, stories written by students from four Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Uttar Pradesh have been selected for state-level honours during a recent story-writing competition on climate change. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Out of over 580 entries, 18 outstanding stories were chosen which embodied critical themes such as water conservation, urban pollution, rising temperatures, and the plight of the planet through the perspective of animals. The schools that were recognised included KGBVs in Muradnagar, Ghaziabad (1st); Gaura, Kanpur Dehat (2nd); Muftiganj, Jaunpur (3rd); and Dewa, Barabanki (4th). This initiative aimed to instil critical thinking and creative expression in students, allowing them to articulate pressing environmental issues, a govt spokesperson said. Conducted under the Meena Manch programme, the competition was supported by interactive online sessions led by Anita Bhatnagar Jain, inspiring students to explore environmental concerns. Each narrative stressed the importance of addressing climate change and conveyed messages of hope and solutions. As part of the recognition, winners will receive a signed copy of 'Kukkaru', a book by Jain focused on environmental awareness for children. Basic education minister Sandeep Singh, emphasized the importance of engaging children in environmental education through creativity, illuminating their path to becoming responsible citizens.

Lucknow: More than 80,000 students from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and over 12,000 staff members joined a Zoom session together as part of 'Mission Samadhan Series-01' on Wednesday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This event was not just about awareness and communication — it served as a platform to encourage girls to speak up and become aware of their rights, entitlements and safety, said officials. Mission Samadhan is becoming a strong pillar of chief minister Yogi Adityanath's girl-empowerment model, officials said. This initiative aims to reinforce grassroots implementation of schemes like Mission Shakti, Women's Helpline 1090, Women PAC, Pocso awareness campaign, and cyber safety awareness. It also prepares girls at the school level to become self-reliant citizens, officials said. Addressing the students, director general of school education, Kanchan Verma said, "Every problem has a solution. Education empowers us. Learn to distinguish between right and wrong and never hesitate. Learn skills — that is your true strength." She also encouraged teachers and parents to engage in discussions about the future of girls. In the various sessions of the programme, experts provided practical and life-skill-based knowledge. Senior expert on girls' education, Samagra Shiksha, UP, Mukesh Kumar Singh guided the girls on physical and financial provisions in KGBVs. In the second session titled 'Stay Safe, Stay Happy', topics like cyber safety, good touch-bad touch and helpline services were discussed. Founder director of Samadhan Abhiyan, Archana Agnihotri interacted with the girls in the third session, stating, "The courage to ask questions is the first step to finding solutions. UP's basic education minister, Sandeep Singh said, "Safety and education of girls is our top priority. The UP govt is committed to empowering every daughter and providing every possible support for her bright future."

80K KGBV students to be trained in financial literacy

Lucknow: The state govt has decided to train 80,000 girl students of 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) from across the state in financial literacy and digital skills. The training will be available for free on the online 'Passport to Earning (P2E)' platform in collaboration with UNICEF and students will be issued certificates after the completion of the training. "Aligned with the vision of National Education Policy-2020, the initiative will make girl students self-reliant as they will become proficient in essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy and financial decision-making. The ambitious programme will be implemented in phases. By May 20, each school will select a nodal teacher and the online orientation for these teachers will be held between May 24 and May 25," a govt official, adding that by June 25, nodal teachers will complete their training on the platform and by July 25, the girl students will get their login credentials. Then they will complete the financial literacy course and receive certificates by Sep10, with a consolidated report ready by Sep 15. The digital literacy training will be completed by Oct 30 and its report will be prepared by Nov 10. UNICEF and Samagra Shiksha will provide technical support at every stage, while district coordinators and wardens will regularly monitor the programme. "The training programme is accessible on the online platform featuring videos, exercises and assessments. The financial literacy course consists of 12 chapters and the digital skills course has eight chapters. Each course lasts 10 hours," he said, adding that district coordinators (girl education) and district basic education officers will monitor the progress. Schools with the best performance will be honoured at the district level. "Under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, our govt is making girls digitally and financially capable," said state basic education minister Sandeep Singh.
