Digital library initiative launched in all high schools of Vypeen constituency

Kochi: Speaker A N Shamseer stated that the digital library initiative introduced in all high schools of the Vypeen constituency was highly commendable. He was speaking after inaugurating the digital libraries across all high schools in Vypeen at an event held at St Mary's High School in Pallippuram, on Tuesday. He also emphasised the need to implement the initiative in all schools across all constituencies. "Students must use this system diligently. This is a crucial period in their character formation. They should read and learn with focus, avoiding negative influences prevalent in society," he said. "If we can help children develop a good character now, that will stay with them for life," he added. The speaker also stressed the need to include the Constitution as part of curriculum alongside academic subjects. "Every Indian citizen has the right to choose, practise and propagate any religion. Unfortunately, we are witnessing situations where these rights are being questioned. At a time when mythology is being used to overshadow science, we must nurture rational thinking and critical reasoning in our children," he noted. According to Vypeen MLA K N Unnikrishnan, it was the first time in Kerala that all high schools within a single constituency have been equipped with digital libraries. "The e-libraries offer a wide range of books from the works of renowned senior authors to writings by emerging young writers. They are also designed to greatly benefit aspirants preparing for competitive exams like NEET, JEE among others," said Unnikrishnan.
