Erie County organizations awarded $328K for agriculture projects

(WJET/WFXP)– Four different Erie County organizations have been awarded $328,000 in grant funding with four organizations set to receive a boost. State Representative Ryan Bizzarro announced the grant funding Tuesday afternoon for projects helping boost food production in the Erie region while increasing local engagement. Gannon students depart for Super Bowl 59 Of the four recipients, two received funding to boost food production while two others received funding to help with harvesting and inventory. The recipients and their amounts are as follows: Minority Community Investment Coalition received $130,000 for urban agriculture projects to boost production and community engagement K Vineyards received $100,000 for advanced harvesting tech Integrated Agricultural Systems received $80,000 to make food more accessible through urban farming projects Fairview Evergreen Nurseries received $18,000 for an automatic inventory project Resolution proposed in lawsuit between Warren Co. sewage authority, Amish residents 'The agriculture industry in Pennsylvania contributes more than $132 billion to our economy each year and supports more than 600,000 jobs. We have organizations right here in Erie County doing phenomenal work contributing to those numbers,' Bizzarro said. 'This funding will help agriculture leaders in our corner of the state develop new ways to protect our resources while increasing profits.'
