'The agriculture industry in Pennsylvania contributes more than $132 billion to our economy each year and supports more than 600,000 jobs. We have organizations right here in Erie County doing phenomenal work contributing to those numbers,' Bizzarro said. 'This funding will help agriculture leaders in our corner of the state develop new ways to protect our resources while increasing profits.'
Funding for the grants came from the PA Ag Innovation Grant Program.

Nolan Smith is looking to have a Von Miller type of impact for Eagles in 2025
Nolan Smith is looking to have a Von Miller type of impact for Eagles in 2025 Nolan Smith is looking to emulate Brandon Graham in Philadelphia and told Zach Berman that he needs to be a dominant run stopper to be an elite pass rusher for the Eagles Nolan Smith: "Watching Von Miller in (Fangio's) defense made me want to be the person I am today. Relentless. Like, who is that guy? What does he do during the offseason? Why is he always at the ball? ...Coach Fangio, watching him and how he molded those guys, it's nothing for me… — Zach Berman (@ZBerm) June 4, 2025 Nolan Smith has spent his first two NFL seasons making daily improvements and developing into one of the top young pass rushers in the league. With Brandon Graham's retirement now official, the former Georgia linebacker is aware that he'll need to take his game to an elite level for Philadelphia to return to the Super Bowl. The Eagles held their fifth OTA session on Tuesday, and following the practice, Smith discussed his outlook on 2025 and what steps he'll need to take to emulate Graham's impact on the franchise. While Jalen Carter has been a star since Day 1, Smith has quietly and intensely carved out a role in the NFL. As a rookie, Smith recorded 18 tackles and 1.0 sacks in 17 regular-season games. Playing behind Haason Reddick and Brandon Graham, the former Georgia star linebacker didn't play more than eight defensive snaps in a game until Week 12. Smith's coming-out party came during the Eagles' postseason run, when the confident former Georgia star made plays in every game, including the Super Bowl 59 win. In Year 2, he became an every-down contributor for the Eagles, playing 755 snaps in 2024 and grading out better against the run (74.0) than as a pass-rusher (68.3), but still managed to generate 50 pressures according to PFF. Smith was the Eagles' best pass rusher down the stretch, and he likely gained more respect from his teammates after playing through a torn Triceps. Smith had four tackles and two sacks in the wild-card round win over Green Bay. Smith, who finished 2nd on the defense with a career-high 6.5 sacks in the regular season, had the most pressures (13) among NFL players in the playoffs last year. Smith's 4.5 sacks last postseason are the most ever recorded by an Eagle during a single playoff run.

Arizona Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon said to be on hot seat in 2025, but why?
Arizona Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon said to be on hot seat in 2025, but why? PFF names Gannon as one of 10 head coaches on the hot seat in 2025. That makes no sense. The Arizona Cardinals are preparing for what is hopefully a competitive 2025 season. There are real playoff aspirations this year. Head coach Jonathan Gannon seems to have had the Cardinals in the right directions. But for some reason, PFF lists Gannon as one of 10 head coaches on the hot seat in 2025. Why? Gannon has mustered only a 12-22 cumulative record with the Cardinals, and his defensive background hasn't extrapolated. Arizona has ranked 32nd and 27th in defensive EPA per play during Gannon's first two years, respectively. The team also faces questions about the long-term future of Kyler Murray (82.1 PFF overall grade), who has fluctuated between MVP candidate and question mark. Arizona's roster has been extremely lackluster throughout Gannon's tenure, which is why it's hard to fully blame him for the team's performance. A much-needed infusion of talent was added this offseason via Josh Sweat (70.0 PFF overall grade), Calais Campbell (85.9 PFF run-defense grade), Walter Nolen (88.9 PFF overall grade) and Will Johnson (76.7 PFF coverage grade). The improved roster should mean a more competitive team, and Gannon needs to assert that the Cardinals can battle both divisional and NFC powerhouses in the near future. If Arizona finishes below .500 for a third straight season, it wouldn't be shocking if Gannon were fired, even if progress is displayed. After all, owner Michael Bidwill canned Kliff Kingsbury in his fourth season despite finishing 11-6 the year before. While one could say that no NFL head coaching job is completely secure, to say Gannon is on the hot seat is not paying attention. The Cardinals fired Kliff Kingsbury after the 11-win team became a four-win dumpster fire. The team was bad. Everything went bad. There was conflict with the starting quarterback. Things were spiraling. You can't look at Gannon's record in a vacuum. In 2023, his first year as head coach, they went from being a four-win dumpster fire team to a very tough, competitive four-win team. I liked to call them a good bad team. They were a bad team with a lack of talent, but they were good in terms of competition. They weren't a good team. They were a good bad team. In 2024, they doubled their win total to eight, which was, based on national expectations, a best-case scenario. They were a perfectly mediocre team, losing to playoff teams and winning almost all the games they should have. They were even 6-4 and leading the NFC West at their bye before struggling down the stretch. With an improved roster, especially on defense, they can legitimately compete in the division. Now, if they fall short of expectations, then 2026 will be Gannon's hot-seat year. But short of an absolute dumpster fire season like 2022, Gannon is as secure as a coach can be this year. Cooper DeJean lands ahead of Quinyon Mitchell in a ranking of the NFL's top 32 cornerbacks
Cooper DeJean lands ahead of Quinyon Mitchell in a ranking of the NFL's top 32 cornerbacks Cooper DeJean landed outside the top ten and Quinyon Mitchell was listed at No. 16 in the Pro Football Focus cornerback rankings for 2025 After losing six of their final seven games to end the 2023 season, Philadelphia placed a renewed focus on revamping the secondary. In 2024, the Eagles bounced back hugely, winning Super Bowl 59 in a rematch with the Chiefs. Two of the most significant factors in the rebound were Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Philadelphia's first two picks in the 2024 NFL draft had first-round grades. Still, Howie Roseman hit the jackpot when DeJean slid down draft boards, and Philadelphia traded up in the second round to secure the former Iowa star. The Birds were 2-2 coming out of the bye week, but lost just one more time after DeJean entered the lineup following the Week 5 bye. Pro Football Focus revealed their top 32 cornerbacks in the NFL for 2025, and the Eagles' two defensive gems were selected way earlier, with DeJean leapfrogging Mitchell and landing just outside the top ten. DeJean was among the highest-rated players in the slot, holding opponents to 50 receptions. He had five pass breakups, and quarterbacks had an 82.2 passer rating against him. Mitchell ranked 3rd among NFL CBs with 16 forced incompletions, trailing only Zyon McCollum (17) and Denzel Ward (17). He was 3rd among CBs in yards allowed per coverage snap (0.8) behind Pat Surtain (0.6) and Derek Stingley (0.7) (min. 600 coverage snaps).
