Liverpool make decision on wonderkid's future
Liverpool are looking at potentially sanctioning a couple of final transfer moves before the window closes and we're being very specific about the conditions that we would be willing to accept. So much of the business that has been conducted this summer has been perfect and letting things go slack in the last two weeks would be a mistake. We have to make sure we keep our composure. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! In terms of incoming moves, Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi remain high on the agenda, although the former appears to be a far more complex deal that the latter to complete. It's a nip and tick situation. 🔴 Meanwhile, we could see Kostas Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott move elsewhere as both them are currently being look as at surplus to requirements, despite still being impactful in the side. But there are also three wonderkids who are currently being assessed for departures and while the intention is to loan them out, a few offers for a permanent transfer might have to be rejected. Liverpool's academy is in flux Anfield Watch understands that 12 more transfers could still be considered before the deadline, and three of them came into focus when James Pearce at The Athletic posted this week's Deal Sheet. We're talking about looking at Lewis Koumas, Kaide Gordon and James McConnell in focus, and especially the former two since they were absent from the U21 squad that lost 4-2 to Leicester City on Monday night in the opening game week of the Premier League second division. All three have featured for Liverpool's first team in some capacity over the last couple of years, but they have not yet been considered to play a more full-time role in the senior set-up. They're still in need of experience and development before they can deliver to a consistently high level. Initially, it appeared as though all possibilities were on the table, looking at permanent and loan moves, but we've now been given an extra bit of clarity on their suitors and Liverpool's intentions. In Pearce's report, he said: "Liverpool are considering loan approaches for youngsters Lewis Koumas, James McConnell and Kaide Gordon. "Koumas, the 19-year-old who has also attracted some permanent interest, is wanted by Sheffield United, Hull City, Wrexham and Preston North End. Norwich City were keen but opted to sign Jovon Makama form League One side Lincoln City instead. "McConnell's suitors include West Bromwich Albion, Oxford United, Hull and Sturm Graz, while Gordon is being pursued by Swansea City and Derby County." A chance to play regular football at a more competitive level is going to do wonders for their careers and they will become far more complete players by the time they return to Arne Slot next summer. It is interested to note that Koumas was looked at as a potential sale, although it appears as though any approaches for him in that manner will be rejected. It certainly gives you an idea about how talented the teenager is for Liverpool to want to keep hold of him at all costs, when a lot of different sales have been agreed already this summer. He's already in the Welsh national team setup. Making permanent transfer calls when the players are still so young is always a bold move, since they've had little opportunity to impress the club and the track-record is limited. Loaning them out seems to be the wisest decision and we'll wish them all the best if any agreements are struck.

Liverpool trio could be on the move this summer
Now three weeks later, Liverpool's pre-season preparation are underway at all levels. The club's first team has played against Preston North End, meanwhile the U21s recently featured in a friendly against Celtic's U21 side. In an 8-0 rout, there were plenty of players who caught the eye against Celtic, with Kaide Gordon and Owen Beck both scoring twice, the former also registered an assist and won a penalty. Wellity Lucky is another name worth mentioning as he was one of the players who had been offered a contract and who did feature in this game, twice being involved in Liverpool goals from centre-back. Three players on that retained however were absent and now face uncertain futures at the club.
