Liverpool make decision on wonderkid's future
So much of the business that has been conducted this summer has been perfect and letting things go slack in the last two weeks would be a mistake. We have to make sure we keep our composure.

In terms of incoming moves, Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi remain high on the agenda, although the former appears to be a far more complex deal that the latter to complete. It's a nip and tick situation.
🔴
Meanwhile, we could see Kostas Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott move elsewhere as both them are currently being look as at surplus to requirements, despite still being impactful in the side.
But there are also three wonderkids who are currently being assessed for departures and while the intention is to loan them out, a few offers for a permanent transfer might have to be rejected.
Liverpool's academy is in flux
Anfield Watch understands that 12 more transfers could still be considered before the deadline, and three of them came into focus when James Pearce at The Athletic posted this week's Deal Sheet.
We're talking about looking at Lewis Koumas, Kaide Gordon and James McConnell in focus, and especially the former two since they were absent from the U21 squad that lost 4-2 to Leicester City on Monday night in the opening game week of the Premier League second division.
All three have featured for Liverpool's first team in some capacity over the last couple of years, but they have not yet been considered to play a more full-time role in the senior set-up. They're still in need of experience and development before they can deliver to a consistently high level.
Initially, it appeared as though all possibilities were on the table, looking at permanent and loan moves, but we've now been given an extra bit of clarity on their suitors and Liverpool's intentions.
In Pearce's report, he said: "Liverpool are considering loan approaches for youngsters Lewis Koumas, James McConnell and Kaide Gordon.
"Koumas, the 19-year-old who has also attracted some permanent interest, is wanted by Sheffield United, Hull City, Wrexham and Preston North End. Norwich City were keen but opted to sign Jovon Makama form League One side Lincoln City instead.
"McConnell's suitors include West Bromwich Albion, Oxford United, Hull and Sturm Graz, while Gordon is being pursued by Swansea City and Derby County."
A chance to play regular football at a more competitive level is going to do wonders for their careers and they will become far more complete players by the time they return to Arne Slot next summer.
It is interested to note that Koumas was looked at as a potential sale, although it appears as though any approaches for him in that manner will be rejected. It certainly gives you an idea about how talented the teenager is for Liverpool to want to keep hold of him at all costs, when a lot of different sales have been agreed already this summer. He's already in the Welsh national team setup.
Making permanent transfer calls when the players are still so young is always a bold move, since they've had little opportunity to impress the club and the track-record is limited. Loaning them out seems to be the wisest decision and we'll wish them all the best if any agreements are struck.

Arsenal could hijack Spurs' bid for Palace star Eze
Arsenal are poised to snatch Eberechi Eze from under the noses of arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in what could be one of the most audacious moves of the Premier League's summer transfer window, it was reported Wednesday. Spurs appeared to be on course to bring the 27-year-old Crystal Palace attacking midfielder to their corner of north London. But it is now being suggested Arsenal, amid concerns over a knee injury to Kai Havertz, will scupper the deal and bring England international Eze, released by the Gunners as a 13-year-old, to the Emirates. The Athletic said Arsenal had reached agreement in principle with Palace to sign Eze, with the deal worth in the region of the expired £68 million ($91 million) release clause, matching the level of fee Spurs were prepared to pay. Arsenal's interest increased after Havertz suffered an injury setback. The Germany international came on in the second half of Sunday's victory over Manchester United and completed the game but was absent from Arsenal's open training at the Emirates on Wednesday. Arsenal finished runners-up to Premier League champions Liverpool last season and are expected to challenge for the title again whereas Spurs, who won the Europa League final, ended the campaign in a lowly 17th place -- one spot above the relegation zone. Eze played 84 minutes of the weekend draw at Chelsea and trained on Wednesday ahead of Palace's Conference League play-off at home to Fredrikstad, with coach Oliver Glasner insisting he and Eagles captain Marc Guehi, a target for Liverpool, would both start the European tie. "Before Chelsea, I think many of you were surprised that Marc and Ebs started and played almost the whole game," Glasner told a pre-match press conference earlier Wednesday. "Most of you will be surprised that they will start again tomorrow because of all the rumours. But again, they are committed." Glasner, who also guided Palace to Community Shield glory in a penalty shoot-out win over Liverpool, added: "They are committed to the team, they have a contract here, they played a crucial part that we could be so successful, and they will play a crucial part as long as they are here. "Because they are good, they are committed to the team, and when one of the players leave, which I don't know at the moment, then they want to leave as players who always gave 100 percent for Crystal Palace. "This is what they did since they signed, and this is what we expect from them until the end of their contract, whenever this is." Palace captain Guehi is under contract until next year, while Eze's deal expires in 2027. "This noise, these rumours, it's not just for three days, it's been written for weeks," said Glasner. jdg/mw

Liverpool given MAJOR encouragement in deal for Bradley Barcola
Liverpool's extensive list of outgoings has left them a little light on attacking players for the 2025/26 season. We've seen Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez move on for sizeable fees - while Ben Doak has also joined them as a high-profile exit. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range Shop the LFC Store 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Harvey Elliott could yet go - and although Federico Chiesa has played himself back into contention the impression is that the Reds could do with one more forward at least. Most fans are expecting Alexander Isak to arrive before the end of the window and he would become the club's new No9 if he were to come in. Liverpool like Barcola But there remains the possibility that sporting director Richard Hughes adds a more versatile attacker in order to cover as many positions as possible. Bradley Barcola is among the players most closely linked with a move to Merseyside. The Paris Saint-Germain forward, 22, was a treble winner last season under Luis Enrique but appears to have fallen down the pecking order of late. France international Barcola has to contend with competition from Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a place in the team while Lee Kang-In also started the season in good form. Has Luis Enrique got Barcola doubts? Liverpool were touted to make a bid over the last few weeks by reporters in France and there is no doubt the former Lyon star would increase Liverpool's attacking threat. And now a report in Defensa Central claims that Luis Enrique sees Rodrygo Goes as the ideal partner for Doue and Dembele in the PSG front line. Although it's acknowledged within the report that the move is unlikely - owing to Madrid and PSG's poor relations over Kylian Mbappe - it demonstrates that the Spanish coach is not altogether convinced over Barcola. © IMAGO - Bradley Barcola Liverpool Luis Enrique wants Rodrygo 'The Asturian would like to sign a player like Rodrygo Goes, as he knows he would complement Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué perfectly, but he understands that PSG's relationship with Real Madrid makes this practically impossible, and that the Brazilian is not in the mood,' the report reads. We have all seen through the treatment of Gianluigi Donnarumma just how brutal Luis Enrique can be when it comes to his own players - and Barcola could be the next treble winner told to take his leave. The winger signed from Lyon back in 2023 and is under contract until 2028. If he fails to make Luis Enrique's preferred XI over the next few weeks then Liverpool could well have a chance to pounce.

Liverpool Confirm New Dates for Three Premier League Fixtures in October
Liverpool's October Premier League Fixtures Rescheduled Key changes to Liverpool's October calendar Liverpool supporters planning their autumn football will need to make note of fresh scheduling changes. Liverpool FC have confirmed alterations to three of the club's October Premier League fixtures, with all matches moved for live broadcast. The trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea will now take place on Saturday 4 October, with kick-off at 5.30pm BST, live on Sky Sports. Two weeks later comes the standout fixture of the month as Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield, rescheduled for Sunday 19 October at 4.30pm, also live on Sky Sports. Liverpool's third fixture of the month, a visit to Brentford, has been moved to Saturday 25 October with a 12.30pm start, live on TNT Sports. This match remains subject to potential movement, depending on the club's Champions League commitments. Implications for Arne Slot's side Rescheduled fixtures are nothing new for a club competing at the highest level, but the spacing of these games highlights the challenges of balancing domestic and European ambitions. Arne Slot's side, fresh from their title-winning campaign, will need to manage squad rotation carefully during a month that brings high-profile tests against both Chelsea and Manchester United. The October run could prove significant in setting the tone for the second half of the season. Liverpool's ability to cope with fixture congestion will again come under the spotlight, especially as rivals are equally determined to assert themselves early in the campaign. Brentford away, meanwhile, is rarely straightforward and the scheduling of a lunchtime kick-off only adds to the difficulty. Photo IMAGO Broadcasting spotlight For supporters watching from afar, the October schedule underlines Liverpool's status as one of the Premier League's biggest draws. All three fixtures have been selected for live television coverage across Sky Sports and TNT Sports. The decision to reschedule is consistent with the pattern of recent seasons where Liverpool's fixtures regularly attract prime viewing slots. From a commercial perspective, it reinforces the global demand to watch Slot's men in action. For travelling supporters, though, rescheduled fixtures can mean additional logistical challenges. Fixture congestion and opportunity While the calendar poses hurdles, it also provides opportunities. Matches against Chelsea and Manchester United in the space of three weeks could serve as pivotal moments for Liverpool in the Premier League title race. Securing points against major rivals before the winter schedule intensifies would provide a strong platform for Slot and his players. Fans will also note that the Brentford fixture's potential movement adds an element of uncertainty. With Champions League fixtures to be accommodated, final confirmation may arrive closer to the date. Such uncertainty is part and parcel of life for an elite club chasing honours on multiple fronts. Liverpool have shown before that they can navigate these challenges. October will once again test their resilience, depth and ability to perform under the spotlight of live television. For now, supporters can pencil in the new dates and prepare for a month that promises drama, intensity and the continuing story of a club chasing further glory.
