Ryan Reynolds and Tom Brady in fight for budding Liverpool ace as Wrexham eye 11th signing
Ryan Reynolds and Tom Brady in fight for budding Liverpool ace as Wrexham eye 11th signing Wrexham and Birmingham are battling it out with several other teams for Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas, who is set to leave the Premier League club before transfer deadline day Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham are facing a tough battle with Birmingham for Liverpool's Lewis Koumas (Image: PA Wire/PA Images) Wrexham and Birmingham City are gearing up for a transfer battle over Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas. The two Championship rivals are at the forefront of a lengthy list of potential suitors for the Welsh international. The 19-year-old forward has become hot property following a successful stint in the second tier last season while on loan at Stoke City. Sheffield United have maintained a keen interest in the player throughout the year, with Norwich City, Preston North End and Hull City also monitoring the situation closely. However, it's Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and Birmingham, where NFL icon Tom Brady holds a minority stake, that are leading the pursuit for Koumas. Both clubs are believed to be prepared to offer a permanent deal to him after he scored on his senior Liverpool debut in an FA Cup victory over Southampton in February last year. Koumas, who was on the bench for the Reds' League Cup final triumph over Chelsea in 2023/24, has made 50 senior appearances and has also earned six full Wales caps. The reigning Premier League champions view the forward as being further along in his development than a player like Bobby Clark was when he left Anfield for RB Salzburg in a £10million deal last year. With 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha having risen from the club's academy in the past nine months, first-team opportunities for Koumas were limited during pre-season to a second-half appearance at Preston and a brief cameo in the opening friendly against Athletic Bilbao. If he does make the move to Wrexham, he would likely become the club's eleventh summer signing. The Red Dragons have so far brought in nine new faces after securing promotion from League One in April, including Wales trio Danny Ward, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead. Man City youngster Callum Doyle is expected to become the tenth after a deal worth up to £8m was agreed between the two clubs. With Wrexham losing their opening two Championship games against Southampton and West Brom, manager Phil Parkinson is keen to add more recruits following a busy summer. Speaking after their latest defeat to the Baggies last weekend, the former Bolton and Sunderland boss said a few areas of his squad still needed strengthening. "The lads we've brought in at the moment are really good and I'm pleased with the way they've settled in," he said. "We probably do need a couple more players and we're looking at that. "It's ongoing, it's obviously busy for all managers and clubs at the moment when you're preparing for games and looking to improve the squad." Parkinson was dealt a blow earlier this week following the news that summer signing Josh Windass will be out of action for up to six weeks. The attacking midfielder has impressed during Wrexham's opening games, scoring from the penalty spot in the defeat to Southampton, but came off with a hamstring injury against West Brom last Saturday. "Josh is going to be out for four to six weeks with his hamstring," said Parkinson. Obviously it's a blow because he's been great for us. Even in the first half hour against West Brom he was really good and obviously down at Southampton. Article continues below "It is really frustrating for him and for us but it's part and parcel of football and we've got to deal with it. With the international break coming up, by the time that's finished he won't be far off."

Liverpool make decision on wonderkid's future
Liverpool are looking at potentially sanctioning a couple of final transfer moves before the window closes and we're being very specific about the conditions that we would be willing to accept. So much of the business that has been conducted this summer has been perfect and letting things go slack in the last two weeks would be a mistake. We have to make sure we keep our composure. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! In terms of incoming moves, Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi remain high on the agenda, although the former appears to be a far more complex deal that the latter to complete. It's a nip and tick situation. 🔴 Meanwhile, we could see Kostas Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott move elsewhere as both them are currently being look as at surplus to requirements, despite still being impactful in the side. But there are also three wonderkids who are currently being assessed for departures and while the intention is to loan them out, a few offers for a permanent transfer might have to be rejected. Liverpool's academy is in flux Anfield Watch understands that 12 more transfers could still be considered before the deadline, and three of them came into focus when James Pearce at The Athletic posted this week's Deal Sheet. We're talking about looking at Lewis Koumas, Kaide Gordon and James McConnell in focus, and especially the former two since they were absent from the U21 squad that lost 4-2 to Leicester City on Monday night in the opening game week of the Premier League second division. All three have featured for Liverpool's first team in some capacity over the last couple of years, but they have not yet been considered to play a more full-time role in the senior set-up. They're still in need of experience and development before they can deliver to a consistently high level. Initially, it appeared as though all possibilities were on the table, looking at permanent and loan moves, but we've now been given an extra bit of clarity on their suitors and Liverpool's intentions. In Pearce's report, he said: "Liverpool are considering loan approaches for youngsters Lewis Koumas, James McConnell and Kaide Gordon. "Koumas, the 19-year-old who has also attracted some permanent interest, is wanted by Sheffield United, Hull City, Wrexham and Preston North End. Norwich City were keen but opted to sign Jovon Makama form League One side Lincoln City instead. "McConnell's suitors include West Bromwich Albion, Oxford United, Hull and Sturm Graz, while Gordon is being pursued by Swansea City and Derby County." A chance to play regular football at a more competitive level is going to do wonders for their careers and they will become far more complete players by the time they return to Arne Slot next summer. It is interested to note that Koumas was looked at as a potential sale, although it appears as though any approaches for him in that manner will be rejected. It certainly gives you an idea about how talented the teenager is for Liverpool to want to keep hold of him at all costs, when a lot of different sales have been agreed already this summer. He's already in the Welsh national team setup. Making permanent transfer calls when the players are still so young is always a bold move, since they've had little opportunity to impress the club and the track-record is limited. Loaning them out seems to be the wisest decision and we'll wish them all the best if any agreements are struck.

La Liga move identified for 'exceptional' Liverpool striker
Liverpool are often left feel aggrieved when it comes to conducting business with La Liga clubs. There are countless examples of transfers that have been polarising and tough for the fans to accept. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid is the most recent of them all and he is widely considered to be a traitor for the way he conducted himself. Moves for Michael Owen and Steve McManaman to the same destination weren't received too well either at the time. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Of course, Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho move to Barcelona instead and the amount of money they brought to the club as part of their transfer fees certainly helped to cushion the blow of losing them, but their departures were still painful in their own way - both at the peak of their powers. However, a beneficial La Liga move for one of Liverpool's talents may on the cards to break the cycle. Liverpool set to negotiate with La Liga again The player linked with a potential move is the young Welsh striker Lewis Koumas, who has recently been receiving opportunities in the first-team during domestic cup matches under Arne Slot. As with Jayden Danns in the academy, he's keen to start knocking on the door for regular football. However, with new signing Will Wright having joined the Reds from Salford, the pair's task is not set to get any easier, especially since Hugo Ekitike has signed for £79m and Alexander Isak is favoured. So it is to be expected that his future is going to be assessed this summer and the world is his oyster.

Hugo Ekitike's £79m arrival clears path for Liverpool forward to leave Anfield on loan as Arne Slot reshapes attack ahead of Premier League title defence
Liverpool will allow their Wales international forward Lewis Koumas to go out on loan again following the £79million signing of Hugo Ekitike. Koumas, 19, scored six times for Stoke City on loan last season and it's felt another spell of playing regularly away from Anfield would be best to aid his long-term development. The Championship is Koumas' likeliest destination for the second consecutive year but moves abroad or to the Premier League haven't been ruled out. Koumas is regarded highly by Liverpool and scored on his debut aged 18 against Southampton in 2024 in what is his only first-team appearance for the club to date. In addition to making 49 appearances for Stoke, Koumas has also won six caps for Wales, where his father Jason was part of the Noughties team alongside the likes of Craig Bellamy. Bellamy is now Wales manager and excited about the future for Koumas. 'He's one of those players who just, every time he has it, you feel like something's is going to happen. Something positive happens. Fearless.' Born in Liverpool, Koumas began his footballing journey in the Tranmere Rovers academy - the same club where his father started his career - before switching to Liverpool at a young age. His natural talent was quickly recognised, and he steadily rose through the ranks at Kirkby, often playing above his age group. The forward signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in January 2023 before penning a new long-term deal last August. He featured for 45 minutes in the Reds' 3-1 pre-season victory over Preston North End, but may not suit up again as the club look to loan him out again.

Club 'considering' move for Liverpool forward after sale of £15m star
Club 'considering' move for Liverpool forward after sale of £15m star There is plenty of youth and academy talents around Liverpool available for loan next season. We could see Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni go elsewhere for senior minutes, for example, rather than playing underage football. Ahead of the last campaign, the Reds sent the likes of Ben Doak and Owen Beck out on loan to the Championship and those two fared well. Advertisement Doak was electric for Middlesbrough in the second tier until an injury curtailed his season in February. Beck, meanwhile, established himself as a left-back of some repute with Blackburn. Another who was loaned out last season was 19-year-old forward Lewis Koumas. In truth it was a difficult campaign for the Welshman at Stoke City with the Potters going through THREE managers over the course of the season. Koumas nonetheless acquitted himself well, appearing in close to 50 matches overall and scoring six times. Koumas set for another loan deal It's been suggested that Koumas could be listed for loan once again for the 2025/26 campaign and Norwich City are among the top candidates to sign him. Advertisement The Canaries are remodelling their attack during this off-season with top scorer Borja Sainz agreeing a £15m move to Porto. Norwich have slready secured somewhat of a coup by landing forward Mathias Kvistgaarden from Brondby but Liam Manning's side aren't stopping there. They still have ambitions to improve their attack in wide areas and Koumas is being considered. Norwich consider move for Koumas That's according to a new report in the Eastern Daily Press. 'Mathias Kvistgaarden is seen as an option both on the left and through the middle, and is expected to arrive as the first of two wingers this summer,' the report states. 'The other is likely to be a Premier League loanee, with Liverpool's Lewis Koumas among the players considered.'
