Students learn about health, hygiene at PTMs held at govt schools

Patna: All govt primary schools across the state on Saturday conducted parent-teacher meetings under the theme 'Vocational Skills and Health, Hygiene and Nutrition'. The meeting was held in most schools of Patna where parents engaged in discussions about their children's future. The initiative aimed to foster closer engagement between parents and educators regarding students' holistic development. The PTMs are now a monthly event that is organised on the last Saturday of each month in all govt schools. A teacher from Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya in Bankipur block reported approximately 50% attendance, noting that parents engaged actively in discussions and viewed models prepared by students for the 'Inspire Award'. It is a scheme that aims to foster a culture of creativity and innovation among school students by encouraging them to develop original ideas and innovations rooted in science. "Parents came according to the time that suited them, and we shared their wards' progress," he added. The headmaster of another school in Patna, who preferred not to be named, said that attendance was around 25-30%. "Some parents who are aware show more interest in knowing about their wards' progress than others," he added. Similarly, the headmaster of Primary School Naya Gowan shared that parents of around 20 out of 63 students came to the school. "We conducted the PTM as per the guidelines of the education department, discussing with parents the importance of hygiene and health," he said.

Have fun & learn: Edu dept organises summer camps for govt school students

Patna: Aiming at enhancing the basic literacy and skills of academically weak govt school students in reading and mathematics, the education dept, along with a city-based non-profit organisation, started summer camps from Monday. The 'Kamal ka camp', whose primary aim is to provide the students of Classes V and VI with a supportive learning environment to build their fundamental skills, will run until June 20 in one lakh tolas across the state, as per an official. Each camp, being led by a dedicated team of shiksha sewaks, talimi markaz, teacher trainees, scouts and guides, NCC cadets, and other volunteers, will have 10-15 children. Sunita Kumari, a shiksha sevak working under Akshar Aanchal Yojana, who is leading one such camp on the premises of Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya in Bankipore, said they had 15 students. "I taught them basic maths like counting, which I tried to explain through games today (Monday). They were enjoying and grasping things at the same time," she said, highlighting the engaging learning approach adopted in the camp. Teachers of govt schools, however, have not been involved in the camps. State education minister Sunil Kumar had earlier appealed to the social workers, public representatives, voluntary organisations and meritorious students to contribute and inspire the govt school students to join the summer camp. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Alerta: Você tem zumbido no ouvido?
