Vijay Mallya performed Kanyadaan of this famous Bollywood actress at her wedding, they are related by.., her name is... In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, public figures are always under high scrutiny. Whether it is their red carpet appearance, gym paparazzi, or their wedding, everything becomes a talking point for the media and often takes the headlines. But unlike the typical high-profile wedding of celebrities, where grandiosity and pomp and show are the obvious elements, one celebrity chose to walk a different path. This actress went for a low-key, intimate wedding in a traditional Maharashtrian style. With the gust list of only near and dears, the celebration happened in a hush-hush. However, what made the ceremony more surprising was the presence of an unexpected figure. The actress we are talking about is Sameera Reddy. She got married to entrepreneur Akshai Varde on 21 January 2014 in a private ceremony. Which she describes as 'so private that even many of her industry friends were unaware.' An unexpected guest at Sameera's intimate wedding In a throwback interview of Sameera, she was seen sharing personal details of her wedding, including that only Businessman Vijay Mallya, who was her maternal uncle, attended the nuptials, not only that, he even did the traditional kanyadaan ritual, where the father or elder gives the bride away to the groom. 'Only Vijay Mallya, who is related to my mother's side, gave me away to the groom. That apart, there were only friends and family,' Sameera had revealed in that same 2014 interview. This detail about Mallya's presence at the ceremony took over social media and created a buzz. In fact, amidst his public controversies in later years, this softer, familial aspect of his life came back into public discussion, shocking those who only associated him with headlines on cricket or financial scandals. After RCB's IPL victory in 2025, when Mallya was seen celebrating from the UK, netizens revisited this lesser-known side of him. A wedding that surprised everyone Another interesting story from their wedding is that while the couple tied the knot on 21st January, 2014, they were originally supposed to get married in April. However, in a turn of events, their wedding got postponed. 'Isn't this the best way to do it?' 'Months of painful planning cause so much stress… Akshai said, Why not?' Sameera's personal life and more Now, Sameera and Akshai are happily married and currently in their 11th year of marriage. Sameera was also seen posting a series of sweet, affectionate photos online, receiving a flood of love and well wishes from fans. On the professional front, Sameera has stepped away from the limelight and is currently focusing on her personal life. Over the years, she's emerged as a powerful voice in conversations surrounding body positivity, parenting, and embracing real, relatable experiences.

Mohan Bhagwat to lead ‘Kanyadaan' of 125 girls in Varanasi today
Varanasi: Karmkandi (performers of rituals) from all castes will be chanting mantras as grooms and brides from forward, OBC, SC, ST classes and even inter-caste, tie the nuptial knot and 'Kanyadaan' (giving away the bride) by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya at Sankuldhara Pond in Kashi on Wednesday. To send out message of caste and social equality , Dalit grooms will take part in 'ghudchadhi' (mounting the bridal steed) ritual and reach the wedding 'mandap' on horses. Inspired by Bhagwat, Sangh functionary kshetra karyawah (regional in charge) Virendra Jaiswal, did not hold reception party after his son's marriage and decided instead to conduct Kanyadaan of girls from poor families and invited Bhagwat to perform the ritual. "Initially, we were preparing for wedding of only 111 couples, but as requests mounted, the number increased to 125," said Jaiswal, mentioning that the event would symbolise the RSS chief's call for 'one temple, one well, one crematorium' as not only do the selected couples represent all castes, but even the ritualists will also not be only Brahmins but different castes, who are in Vedic and Karmakand studies. With the arrival of Bhagwat in the afternoon, the rituals of 'Var-Darshan' (viewing groom) will take place. Grooms will march to the wedding venue in a baraat (procession). Grooms from upper, backward and Dalit classes will ride together on horses, carriages and chariots, said the Sangh functionaries busy in finalising preparations. Dignitaries from various sections of society will play the role of guardians and wash the feet of the bridegrooms. To inspect finalisation of arrangements, police commissioner Mohit Agrawal, divisional commissioner S Rajalingam, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar and other senior officials reached Sankuldhara. The organisers shared a detailed itinerary with officials, saying the wedding procession will start at 4pm from Sankuldhara Pond and reach Dwarkadhish Temple amid beats of dhols, bands, DJ and fireworks. At the same venue, rituals of kanyadaan by Bhagwat will be performed late evening. After the rituals, Bhagwat will address all, which will be followed by a feast on Ramanand School campus. The organisers said Akshay Tritiya is known as a fest of daan (donations) and people will be encouraged for blood and eye donations.

Bhagwat to perform ‘Kanyadaan' of 111 girls in Kashi on Akshay Tritiya
1 2 Varanasi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) chief Mohan Bhagwat will perform the rituals of kanyadaan of 111 girls from underprivileged families, including 30 tribal girls from Sonbhadra district, at Sankuldhara pond on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya on April 30. The mass marriage ceremony is being organised by RSS senior functionary, Kshetra Karyawah Virendra Jaiswal. He said that in view of Bhagwat's repeated appeals to care for the weaker sections of society instead of wasting money on pomp and show during family functions, he avoided holding a reception party for his youngest son's marriage and decided to perform Kanyadaan for girls from poor families. "My son's marriage took place in December. When my family was busy finalising preparations, I proposed to perform Kanyadaan for a poor girl instead of spending the money on a grand feast," said Jaiswal. "I made the Sangh Chief aware of my decision and invited him to perform the rituals of Kanyadaan," said Jaiswal. His team assessed the financial condition of all those who contacted them. All the wedding rituals will take place in the presence of Bhagwat between 4 pm and 8 pm. Afterward, the RSS chief will bless the newlywed couples, said Jaiswal, adding that the entire Sankuldhara and Khojwa area will be decorated for the event and a grand feast will be hosted .
