Gabbi Garcia looks back on audition rejections, gives advice to aspiring artists

Gabbi Garcia, now an established actress and host, is no stranger to rejection and auditions from when she was starting in her career. In an interview with GMA News Online on Friday, the Kapuso It Girl recalled a project she had auditioned for. 'I did the final callbacks. I lined up. Tapos nakita ko na lang, napapalabas na siya tapos wala ako,' she said. However, despite the rejections, Gabbi said these served as her motivation to keep pursuing a career in the arts. 'I'm grateful kasi hindi siya ever naging malalim na hugot sa 'kin because my parents would always tell me, 'It's okay. It just means it's not yet your time,'' she said. Gabbi also shared that her parents were supportive of her career; her dad Vince would drive her to auditions and her mom Tes would line up with her. 'So, it wasn't really such a traumatic experience for me. It's really more like fuel na alam ko my time will come soon. I believe that everything is planned and everything is destined," she said. 'Ang daming sacrifices just to support me with whatever I'm doing," she added. During her GMA Network contract signing on Friday, Gabbi said that the network was 'one of the few ones who embraced me, who welcomed me, who accepted me, and who saw something in me.' With these experiences under her belt, Gabbi now has these words of wisdom for aspiring artists who have also faced rejection. 'Kung para sa 'yo, para sa 'yo. Your time will come soon as long as you work hard for it,' Gabbi said. 'Nothing happens instantly. Everything requires hard work. So, as long as you're passionate and you really wanna do what you wanna do, be patient and just go for it.' Gabbi currently stars in GMA's first Viu Original series, 'Slay.' The actress has also been praised for her hosting skills. She is one of the hosts of 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition Collab" and hosted Miss Universe Philippines 2025 in early May.
