Students watch porn on screen in Rajgarh school, probe ordered

Bhopal: Students at PM Shri School in Suthalia, Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, allegedly played a pornographic clip on a classroom LED screen during school hours, and a video of the act went viral. The principal of the school told TOI that the video dates to the last academic session when he was not posted there. The viral footage shows around 13 students sitting on chairs watching the clip, while some recorded it on their mobile phones. No teacher or school staff member was present in the room at the time. District education officer (DEO) Karan Singh Bhilala ordered an inquiry by the Biaora block education officer and appointed a three-member fact-finding team. The panel, comprising the principals of Jirapur Utkrishta Vidyalaya and Telan PM Shri Vidyalaya, along with the Narsinghgarh block education officer, has been directed to submit its report within three days. Bhillala assured that the LED screens in classrooms are meant for educational purposes, and any misuse will be dealt with strictly. Responding to a section of media, Rajgarh child welfare committee (CWC) chairman Saket Sharma described the incident as "deeply unfortunate" and said it points to "serious gaps in monitoring and discipline." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo The CWC has issued notices to the principal and DEO, seeking explanations before deciding on further action. "Schools must ensure that digital resources are properly supervised to prevent such misuse," Sharma said. Principal Hemant Yadav, who took charge in May this year, claimed the incident occurred months before he joined. He alleged that a local youth, identified as Brijmohan Suryavanshi, tried to blackmail him for Rs 50,000 by threatening to make public the clip. "When I refused to pay, the video was circulated on social media," Yadav said, adding that he is considering legal action. Following the video's circulation, several parents and community members gathered at the school demanding accountability. They urged the education department to introduce stricter classroom monitoring, especially when digital equipment is in use. Local organisations have also called for counselling for the students involved, along with disciplinary action, to prevent recurrence.
