My grandson has been named ‘Iraj': Lalu
Patna: A day after leader of opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav , was blessed with a baby boy, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife, Rabri Devi, named their grandson "Iraj". Tejashwi and his wife, Rajshree, however, named the baby "Iraj Lalu Yadav". Lalu, however, no longer uses his surname Yadav. The baby was born at a Kolkata hospital on Tuesday, which in Hinduism is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Tarun Kumar, former head of the Hindi department in Patna University, said the name 'Iraj' has Persian origin, meaning "shining like a sun". The name of the baby was announced by Lalu through his X handle on Wednesday. "So, our granddaughter Katyayani's little brother is named 'Iraj' by me and Rabri Devi," Lalu wrote in his social media post on Wednesday. Explaining the reason behind naming his grandson Iraj, Lalu said, "Katyayani was born on Katyayani Ashtami, the sixth day of auspicious Navratri and this little bundle of joy is born on Bajrang Bali Hanuman Ji's Mangal day of Tuesday, therefore naming him 'Iraj'." Thanking everyone for their best wishes and blessings, Lalu said that the newborn and his mother are doing well and in good health.

Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi named their grandson Iraj Lalu Yadav, a day after Tejashwi Yadav became a parent for the second time. Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly, and his wife Rajshree were blessed with a baby boy at a private hospital in Kolkata, on Tuesday. Announcing the name on X, Prasad said, 'So our granddaughter Katyayani's little brother is named 'Iraj' by me and Rabri Devi. Tejashwi and Rajshree have given him a full name as 'Iraj Lalu Yadav'.' 'Katyayani was born on Katyayani Ashtami, the 6th day of auspicious Navratri and this little bundle of joy is born on Bajrang Bali Hanuman Ji's Mangal day of Tuesday, therefore naming him 'Iraj'. Thank you all for your best wishes and blessings! The newborn and his mother are doing well,' he added to his X post. A family member said that the baby was born at a private hospital in Kolkata, where Rajshree was admitted for the last few days. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had also visited the hospital and met the family on Tuesday. Talking to reporters outside the hospital, Banerjee said, 'Lalu ji and Rabri ji are here and they are very happy". "I wish peace and happiness for the family of Tejashwi,' she added. Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Banerjee expressed her happiness. 'Look at the happiness--he has had his first son in the family. May there be peace and happiness in his family and his child's life. This baby has come with good wishes,' she said. 'He sent me a message. They have been in touch from time to time. He sent me a message that the baby was born this morning,' she added. Tejashwi Yadav also spoke to reporters and thanked everyone for their support.'We are all delighted to welcome a new member into our family. I thank all the well-wishers, especially West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for her wholehearted support and blessings,' said Tejashwi Yadav. He also shared a spiritual note on the occasion.
