My grandson has been named ‘Iraj': Lalu
Patna: A day after leader of opposition in the state assembly,
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav
, was blessed with a baby boy, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife, Rabri Devi, named their grandson "Iraj". Tejashwi and his wife, Rajshree, however, named the baby "Iraj Lalu Yadav".
Lalu, however, no longer uses his surname Yadav.
The baby was born at a Kolkata hospital on Tuesday, which in Hinduism is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Tarun Kumar, former head of the Hindi department in Patna University, said the name 'Iraj' has Persian origin, meaning "shining like a sun".
The name of the baby was announced by Lalu through his X handle on Wednesday. "So, our granddaughter Katyayani's little brother is named 'Iraj' by me and Rabri Devi," Lalu wrote in his social media post on Wednesday.
Explaining the reason behind naming his grandson Iraj, Lalu said, "Katyayani was born on Katyayani Ashtami, the sixth day of auspicious Navratri and this little bundle of joy is born on Bajrang Bali Hanuman Ji's Mangal day of Tuesday, therefore naming him 'Iraj'."
Thanking everyone for their best wishes and blessings, Lalu said that the newborn and his mother are doing well and in good health.

'One of best things I've ever done': Elon Musk's father visits Ram Temple
Errol Musk, father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday and described the experience as 'wonderful' and one of the 'best things' he has ever done. He also offered prayers at the nearby Hanuman Garhi temple. Although he had planned to see the Taj Mahal in Agra, the trip might be cancelled due to the intense heat in the region. 'It's wonderful, absolutely wonderful (Ayodhya visit). It's one of the best things I've ever done. I'm so glad I came to see it and can't wait till the temple gets completed, the big temple, it's going to be something like a wonder of the world,' Errol told PTI. Admiration for Indian culture and people Speaking to reporters after visiting both temples, Errol shared his thoughts on India and his spiritual experience: 'My experience here in India has been wonderful. I'm here (in India) to begin working with Servotech and am looking forward to spending a lot of time in the country. The temples are marvellous and so are the people.' Errol arrived at Ayodhya airport at around 2.30 pm, accompanied by his daughter Alexandra Musk. They left the temple town shortly after 4 pm. During his visit, he wore a traditional kurta-pyjama. Three-tier security system in place Security was heightened in Ayodhya during the visit. According to a senior police official, the town already has a three-tiered security system in place, including high-tech anti-drone technology capable of identifying and neutralising any unauthorised drones. 'There is already a three-layered high-level security cover in place in Ayodhya, which includes round-the-clock deployment of high-tech anti-drone systems capable of detecting and neutralising unauthorised aerial activity,' a police officer told PTI. 'However, no additional security cover will be extended officially for this visit as the existing measures are adequate,' he added. Surveillance cameras, visitor checks, and specially trained personnel are part of the standard security setup around the temple complex. Praise for Hinduism and Prime Minister Modi In an earlier interview with IANS, Errol Musk shared his deep admiration for Indian spirituality and culture: 'I think if the entire world followed Shiva, it would be just fine. I'm not an expert, but I find Hinduism fascinating. It's so ancient—it boggles the mind. The depth and history of the religion show us just how little we actually understand about the past. There's a profound sense of continuity and spirituality in India that is truly humbling,' he said. He also expressed great respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially for his role in shaping India's progress. 'He is one of the finest leaders in the world today. It's always a pleasure to watch him speak on TV. He carries himself with confidence and clarity. Under his leadership, India has taken giant strides, not only in economic terms but also in global diplomacy,' said Errol Musk. Visit part of green energy promotion Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd confirmed that Errol will remain in the country until June 6. He serves as the Global Advisor to the Haryana-based green energy company. 'His visit is squarely focused on accelerating India's burgeoning green technology and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development,' the company said in a statement. Servotech's managing director, Raman Bhatia, is also expected to visit the Ram temple on Wednesday.

Thug Life advance booking: Kamal Haasan's film to open with ₹12.46 cr, 2 lakh+ tickets sold despite Karnataka blockage
Thug Life advance booking: Kamal Haasan's film Thug Life is ready to debut on Thursday despite no show across Karnataka. The actor recently found himself at the centre of a controversy, which led to the film being blocked from release in the state. However, the film is set to see a decent opening day. However, missing out on the Karnataka circuit is undoubtedly going to cost Kamal Haasan who is also jointly backing the film. According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, Thug Life has collected a gross of ₹ 5.02 crore from ticket sales in all languages. The film will be out in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. It will also be available in IMAX 2D format. Considering all formats, Kamal Haasan's film has so far sold 2,95,456 tickets for 10,678 shows across India, excluding Karnataka. Considering blocked seats, Thug Life is set to see a massive opening with ₹ 12.46 crore gross earnings. The film is set to clash with Sajid Nadiawala's Housefull 5 which has now generated way less money from advance booking. The movie is likely to premiere with ₹ 5.67 crore gross earnings. While Karnataka is out of the picture for Thug Life, states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, followed by Gujarat, top the list with maximum revenue from the advance booking for the first day in all versions. Thug Life is a gangster action drama film, directed by Mani Ratnam. It is co-written by Kamal Haasan, who is also jointly producing the film under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International. Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies are also backing the film. Besides Kamal Haasan, it also features Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and Baburaj. The film marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam after they collaborated on their 1987 film, Nayakan. The film landed in controversy after Haasan said, "Kannada was born out of Tamil' during the film event. Predicting the fate of the film amid the row, film trade insider Ramesh Bala posted on X, formerly Twitter, 'The anticipation is huge for the biggest film of the year #ThugLife. The promotional material impressed everyone. We can expect, solid action and Phenomenal performances from leads #KamalHaasan, #SilambarasanTR, #Trisha, #JojuGeorge & others. With themes rumored to explore action, identity, and rebellion, #ThugLife is expected to be more than just a commercial entertainer. Excited for tomorrow.' However, trade analyst Sumit Kadel claimed underwhelming numbers for the Thug Life Hindi version. He wrote, 'Advance booking for #KamalHaasan's #ThugLife is underwhelming in the Hindi belt, with current projections indicating a Day 1 opening in the ₹ 80L–1Cr range across North India. The film has just Thursday to register any meaningful biz before #Housefull5 takes over the bulk of showcasing from Friday.'
