New Delhi: Editor Shameer Muhammed calls working with Shankar on Game Changer a "terrible experience". Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and marking Kiara Advani's Telugu cinema debut, failed to impress at the box office and received largely negative reviews. Now, the film's editor Shameer Muhammed has spoken out about his experience working on the project, describing it as unpleasant. In an interview with Kaumudy Movies, Shameer revealed he spent a significant amount of time editing Game Changer. "I spent a year with that film. I went there for three years. It was in the last six months that I was told I would have to stay with them for another month. I had a sketch here, so I came at that time. When I was editing, the film was 7-7.5 hours long. I made it three and a half hours. After that, a new editor came in and shortened it to 2.5-3 hours," he said. According to Shameer, it was director Shankar's working style that led him to step away from the project. "It was a terrible experience working with Shankar for me. I went there with great excitement, but things were happening in some other world there. He would fix one date for editing, but he would turn up only after ten days. The same pattern continued for several days, and I ended up staying in Chennai for 300-350 days," he said. After he exited the film, editor Ruben took over the project. Shameer shared that he had already turned down other offers while working on Game Changer and did not want to miss out on more. "Then I left the film. It would have been a terrible mistake if I had left AR and Marco for Game Changer," he added.

In a recent interview with Kaumudy Movies, Shameer shared that he spent an entire year editing the film and managed to reduce its runtime to 2 hours and 50 minutes. He said, 'I spent a year with that film. I went there for three years. It was in the last six months that I was told I would have to stay with them for another month. I had a sketch here, so I came at that time. When I was editing, the film was 7–7.5 hours long. I made it three and a half hours. After that, a new editor came in and shortened it to 2.5–3 hours.' However, Shameer Muhammed revealed that it was filmmaker Shankar's lack of professionalism that led him to exit the project. He had already turned down several other offers to focus on Game Changer. He said, 'It was a terrible experience working with Shankar for me. I went there with great excitement, but things were happening in some other world there. Game Changer Editor Shameer Muhammed Slams Director Shankar: 'A Horrible Experience'

Last Updated: Game Changer editor Shameer Muhammed slams director Shankar, calling the experience 'horrible.' Reveals the film was originally 7.5 hours long before edits. Game Changer, despite being one of the most highly anticipated films of early 2025, turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office. Starring Ram Charan in a double role and helmed by acclaimed director Shankar, the film failed to meet expectations, drawing sharp criticism from both audiences and critics. Now, adding to the film's mounting controversies, editor Shameer Muhammed has come forward to share his less-than-pleasant experience working on the project. In a candid interview with Kaumudy Movies, Shameer didn't hold back. 'Working with Shankar sir was a horrible experience," he revealed. 'He would schedule editing sessions and then not show up for 10 days. This went on for a long time. I ended up staying in Chennai for nearly 300 to 350 days." Shameer eventually exited the project, citing professional setbacks. He revealed that the never-ending delays forced him to turn down 2–3 other film offers. After his departure, the editing responsibilities were taken over by Ruben. What's even more surprising is Shameer's revelation about the film's original length. He claimed that the first cut of Game Changer was a staggering 7.5 hours long. Shameer managed to bring it down to 3 hours, and later Shankar trimmed it further to 2 hours and 45 minutes. For those unfamiliar with Shameer Muhammed, he's a celebrated editor and producer best known for his work in Malayalam cinema. His breakout project was Charlie starring Dulquer Salmaan, and since then, he has worked on acclaimed titles such as Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), Marco, Rekhachithram, and most recently Narivetta featuring Tovino Thomas. Game Changer was positioned as a high-stakes political action drama, where Ram Charan played dual roles of father and son. The story revolved around an honest IAS officer attempting to cleanse a deeply corrupt political system. The ensemble cast included Kiara Advani, Anjali, SJ Suryah, Jayaram, and Srikanth. Looking forward, Ram Charan is now focused on his next film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 27, 2025. First Published:
