Laura Anderson reveals two unexpected Islanders she still speaks to despite feud on show

Laura Anderson rose to fame on Love Island in 2018 and still speaks to a few of her fellow Islanders but it's not who you would expect. While the current dramatic series of Love Island airs, it often gets viewers reminiscing about past seasons of the iconic show which has now been running for ten years. Previous years on the show have been notoriously messy, filled with juicy arguments, meltdowns and shocking backstabbing betrayals. However, there is something about the chaotic antics of Harry Cooksley and the baffling dishonesty of Yasmin Pettet which is so similar to the older seasons of the show. One particular drama filled season came in Love Island 2018. Many memorable stars rose to fame during that year's series including Wes Nelson, Megan Barton-Hanson, Georgia 'I'm Loyal Babe' Steele, Adam Collard and the beloved Dr Alex George. ‌ It was also in that same year that Laura Anderson left behind her air hostess job and became a big star in Scotland. Since her stint on the ITV dating show, Laura has remained very much in the spotlight. The Scots star went on to star on Celebs Go Dating where she met her ex-boyfriend and Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, who she now shares her one-year-old daughter Bonnie with. ‌ She also previously had a role on Capital FM as a radio host before she left in February this year. Now 36-years-old and as a mum-of-one, Laura has grown up a lot since her Love Island days, but in a new interview with Closer she has revealed that there are actually still quite a few Islanders she keeps in contact with over seven years on from the show. When asked if she still chats to anyone from her series, she said: "Adam [Collard] and Kaz Crossley are the main ones that I WhatsApp." Her response was surprising given the fact Laura and Kaz did not get on inside the villa. In fact, Kaz even revealed on her stint on spin off show Love Island: All Stars earlier this year that she and the Scots star had three arguments on the show and one of them wasn't even aired. ‌ However, by the sounds of it, any feud the pair had between them is now cleared up as they are currently very much close friends Laura went on to say Kaz is keen to meet her daughter as she said: "Kaz wants to come up and see Bonnie". ‌ The mum-of-one added that she is also friends with another Islander from a different series. She said: "I speak to Olivia Bowen but she's not from my series". Olivia, who starred on season two of the show in 2016, is the definition of a Love Island legend with a success story. ‌ She married fellow Islander, Alex Bowen in 2018, just over two years after meeting him on the show. The couple are now proud parents to their son Abel and are expecting their second child together. Laura, who did not find long term love on the show but is currently loved up with Scots boyfriend Clarke Robertson, added:" I'm friends with everyone when I see them at events."

Dwyane Wade's wife Gabrielle Union breaks silence as LGBTQ+ lifeline faces shutdown

(Image Source - Getty Images) Hollywood actress and producer Gabrielle Union has drawn attention to a worrying development involving LGBTQ+ mental health services in the United States. On June 19, Union shared an Instagram Story highlighting a post about the upcoming shutdown of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline's LGBTQ+ youth option, scheduled for July 17, under the Trump administration. Gabrielle Union raises red flag on upcoming LGBTQ+ hotline shutdown On June 19, Gabrielle Union reposted a message from Anthony 'Kaz' (@lqvekanthony) on her Instagram story. Kaz had shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) warning that the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline's LGBTQ+ support line (Press 3) will be shut down on July 17, 2025, by the Trump administration. In his post, Kaz wrote, 'The Trevor Project can be reached directly at 1‑866‑488‑7386, even when this is going to be gone. Please share to possibly save someone's life.' Gabrielle Union didn't add extra words but her repost helped alert many people. She made sure her followers, many of them young and active, saw it. Even without a caption, her share made a big impact. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade stand by LGBTQ+ youth This is not the first time Gabrielle Union has risen for the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, it is something she does often - quiet, firm and with love. Alongside her husband, former NBA star Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle has always made it clear: Their support for their daughter, Zaya Wade, who came out as transgender in 2020, is unconditional. (Image Source - @gabunion) Gabrielle doesn't just speak when it's easy. She uses her voice when she matters the most. Whether it is sharing stories, showing on events, or supporting organizations such as Trevor Projects, she shows up for those who are often unheard. She spoke openly about mental health, identity, breed and belonging. She listens, she learns, and she picks up people. And this is what he did again - this time with a single Instagram story. By resharing Kaz's post about the shutdown of the 988 LGBTQ+ lifeline, she didn't add extra words. She didn't need to. Her decision to pass along that message was its own kind of call to action a way of telling her millions of followers: don't look away. Stay alert. Help if you can. And in that one small post, she reminded people of something big: The Trevor Project's direct line, 1‑866‑488‑7386, is still active. Even if part of the system goes quiet, help is still out there. Kaz Kajimura, founder of Bay Area jazz club Yoshi's, dies at 81

Kazuo 'Kaz' Kajimura, the driving force behind one of the Bay Area's most iconic jazz institutions, has died. He passed away Sunday, June 15, according to a family statement, after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 81. Kajimura, a Tokyo native, was a relentless dreamer who helped shape the Bay Area's jazz scene over five decades. A graduate of Waseda University, with advanced degrees from institutions in China, U.C. Berkeley and Stanford, Kajimura arrived in the East Bay with a reporter's eye and an entrepreneur's spirit. In 1972, he co-founded Yoshi's with Yoshie Akiba and Hugh 'Hiro' Hori, launching it as a modest Japanese restaurant near UC Berkeley. But it was Kajimura who expanded the business into one of the country's most revered jazz venues. The club's move to Oakland's Claremont Avenue in 1979 introduced live music, and by 1997, Yoshi's had relocated to its now-renowned Jack London Square location. The 310-seat jazz venue welcomed giants like Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis and Pharoah Sanders. A brief expansion to San Francisco's Fillmore District began in 2007 but was eventually scaled back in 2014 amid financial strains. 'Kaz invested his whole life and his whole family inheritance to navigate Yoshi's through both different locations, and really tough times,' the family said in a statement. 'Yoshi's Oakland wouldn't exist without him.' Beyond his business ventures, Kajimura was an avid harmonica player, pilot, speedboat racer and scuba diver, with a zest for adventure matched only by his devotion to community and music. 'Yoshi's is like no other place on Earth,' he once said. He also leaves behind a devoted protégé and successor, Hal Campos, whom he called 'his only son.' 'The show must go on,' Kaz would say, according to his family.
