45 students learn Bangla at KV Buxar summer camp
Buxar: A total of 45 students from classes VI to X at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Buxar, are learning Bangla as part of a seven-day Indian Language Summer Camp, which began on May 26 and will run till June 2. The students are actively participating in the camp, which is designed to foster appreciation for India's rich linguistic diversity. School principal Meenakshi Nirmal said the camp offers students valuable practical exposure to Bangla, one of the 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. "This camp is a step toward promoting mutual harmony and linguistic unity. It instils in children a sense of love and respect for the nation and its diverse languages. Indian languages are part of our cultural heritage and it is our collective responsibility to preserve and promote them," she said. The camp was inaugurated by the school librarian, Chaman Ranjan, who highlighted the cultural, social and educational importance of Indian languages. Bangla was chosen as the focus language for this year's programme. Students are learning basic conversational skills for everyday use with the curriculum made engaging through songs, debates, music and other creative activities. As a special feature, the school's English teacher, Magdataprana Dutta, originally from Bengal, is conducting online sessions. Her sessions offer practical guidance on using Bangla in daily life. Under her mentorship, students are gaining confidence in speaking, understanding and applying the language. In addition, music teacher Vinay Kumar Gupta is teaching Bangla songs, adding a fun and immersive element to the learning experience. All participating students will receive certificates upon completion of the camp, said principal Nirmal.

PM Modi begins Bihar visit with 5-km roadshow, inauguration of new Patna airport terminal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Patna airport on Thursday, inaugurated a new terminal, and flagged off the construction of a new airport in Bihta, about 25 km from Bihar's capital, before taking out a roadshow to the state BJP headquarters. During the PM's third visit to the state in the last four months, he is scheduled to address a public gathering at Vikramganj in Rohtas district on Friday. He will inaugurate or flag off 16 development projects, worth about Rs 50,000 crore, during his two-day visit that comes ahead of state Assembly elections set to be held later this year. Modi was received at Patna airport on Thursday by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the two Deputy CMs, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. During the five-kilometre roadshow that began from the airport, people lined up on either side of the road along the entire route and sprinkled flower petals on the PM's car. Moreover, 35 volunteer organisations and citizens' groups had set up 32 stages along Modi's roadshow route. At some points, women in saffron and yellow sarees, and wearing red turbans, lined up to extend their greetings to the PM. Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Patna, welcomed the PM by blowing conches. The roadshow concluded at the BJP headquarters on Birchand Patel Path. There, the PM is believed to have discussed preparations for the Assembly elections with senior party leaders. A senior BJP leader said: 'The sheer presence of the PM at BJP headquarters has boosted the morale of the party's rank and file.' It's not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts. And nothing can explain this much better than the success story of IPS officer Akash Kulhari. He was even expelled from school for scoring low marks in Class 10th. Yet, he cracked the UPSC exam on his very first attempt. Hailing from Bikaner, Rajasthan, IPS Akash Kulhari completed his early education at a local school. After securing just 57% in his Class 10th board exams, he was denied admission to Class 11 by the same school. Undeterred, his father enrolled him in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bikaner. There, Akash dedicated himself to his studies and scored a remarkable 85% in his Class 12 exams. He earned a degree from Duggal College. He then pursued a Master's degree (MA) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Following his MA, he enrolled in an program and simultaneously began preparing for the UPSC examination. Akash Kulhari secured All India Rank(AIR) of 273 in the 2005 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. At present, he serves as Inspector General (IG) (Public Grievances)/Director General of Police (DGP) Headquarters in the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Dhami inaugurates Malan Bridge, unveils key infra projects for Kotdwar
Dehradun: Chief minister on Monday virtually inaugurated the reconstructed Malan Bridge on the Chillerkhal-Pakhro motor road in Kotdwar's Pauri district. The bridge, which connects the Kotdwar-Bhabar region to Motadhak is among seven infrastructure projects inaugurated by Dhami. "The opening of this bridge will ease travel for residents of Kotdwar and surrounding rural areas and give a boost to economic activities," he said. He added that several key projects are underway in Kotdwar to support its development. "An advanced sewage treatment plant is being built under the Namami Gange project at a cost of Rs 135 crore. A four-lane bypass and the Kotdwar–Najibabad double-lane road are also being constructed at a cost of Rs 691 crore," he said. He added that the Kotdwar–Pauri–Srinagar road is also being upgraded to a double lane and that it would improve travel convenience and spur economic growth. Dhami also said that Kotdwar railway station is being revamped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. "A new train service from Sidhbali-Kotdwar to Delhi has been launched, and construction of a hospital and bus stand terminal is in progress," he said. He also announced that land has been transferred for setting up a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kotdwar, following a cabinet decision. In another event, Dhami also launched two Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Set up by a leading car manufacturer as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the ADTTs are equipped with high-definition cameras and integrated IT systems that enable driving license evaluations without human intervention. The carmaker has also been operating an ADTT in Dehradun since 2019. Officials noted that after the Dehradun facility became operational, the pass percentage for license seekers initially declined to 60% in FY 2019–20, but has since improved to 69%, indicating a more rigorous and reliable evaluation process. Dedicating the new facilities to the state, transport secretary Brijesh Kumar Sant said, "We are committed to making Uttarakhand's roads safer. With the comprehensive evaluation at ADTTs, we can ensure that only skilled drivers get a driving license." UPSC civil services prelims exam concludes peacefully across districts
Visakhapatnam : The UPSC civil services prelims examination was conducted peacefully across various districts, including Visakhapatnam and NTR district, on Sunday. In Visakhapatnam, nearly 8,000 candidates appeared for the exam at 19 centers, which was held in two sessions: from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. According to the aspirants, both papers were of moderate difficulty, with some candidates mentioning that the CSAT paper took more time due to an increase in comprehension-based questions. District collector MN Harendhira Prasad visited the exam centers at Vignan Engineering College in Duvvada and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Akkayyapalem to review the smooth conduct of the exams. He inspected the basic facilities being provided to the candidates, including security, supervision, drinking water, rest areas, and signboards at the centers. The collector said that the exams were conducted peacefully and in accordance with the regulations. In NTR district, the prelims exam concluded on a peaceful note with 5,716 and 5,665 candidates in attendance for paper 1 and paper 2 across 25 examination centers. NTR district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said that the district administration set up a special control room at the collectorate to monitor the examination. The prelims exam was held peacefully by coordinating with local inspecting cum liaison officers, examination supervisors, and strong room staff, ensuring no untoward incidents occurred.
