Gandhinagar: The state govt said that 3.30 lakh kilogrammes of mangoes worth over Rs 4 crore were sold at the month-long Kesar Mango Festival 2025, which was held at the Ahmedabad Haat in the Vastrapur area of the city. Eighty-five mango farmers from across the state put up stalls at the mango festival, which was organised by the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation. An official statement said that the state govt has been organising the Kesar Mango Festival since 2007 to ensure citizens get chemical-free mangoes and farmers get fair prices for their produce. This year's festival was organised for a month beginning May 16. State agriculture minister Raghavji Patel said that this year, farmers sold over 3.30 lakh kilogrammes of mangoes, earning an income of about Rs 4 crore. In the last festival organised in 2023, 2.70 lakh kg of mangoes were sold, he added. By eliminating middlemen, this mango festival allowed farmers to sell their quality mangoes directly, earning about 20% more profit than usual. Approximately over one lakh city dwellers visited the mango festival, the govt said.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat govt on Wednesday launched its annual Kesar Mango Festival 2025 at Ahmedabad Haat in Vastrapur, featuring premium mangoes from eight districts including Junagadh, Talala and Gir Somnath. The Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd (GAIC)-organized event hosts 85 stalls, enabling direct farmer-to-consumer sales of carbide-free mangoes . The festival showcases kesar mangoes from Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Narmada and Kutch regions."This platform eliminates middlemen, improving our profits and market reach," said Harsh Patel, a vendor from Talala. Another vendor Meet Vala, "Such events facilitate direct consumer interaction and motivate us to improve production."The state horticulture department's exhibition features diverse mango varieties from across India, including Totapuri from Andhra Pradesh, Rajapuri from Maharashtra and Langda from Uttar Pradesh. Gujarat's mango production has shown impressive growth, recording a 10.9% CAGR with production of 2.4 lakh metric tonnes, according to the India 2024 Horticulture Report. Officials anticipate sales of over 2.50 lakh kilograms during the festival. The event has received positive response from visitors. "I have never seen so many mango varieties in one place. This is a good way to learn about horticulture and mango varieties," said local resident Meena Shah. Ramesh Solanki, a software engineer from Satellite, said, "This is more than just a fruit festival. It's a showcase of Gujarat's agri-excellence." Gandhinagar: The state govt's mango festival – Kesar Mango Festival 2025 – will be inaugurated at Ahmedabad Haat in Vastrapur on Wednesday. Mango growers will sell chemical-free mangoes directly to customers from 85 stalls during the festival, which will last until June 13, the govt said on minister Raghavji Patel, MoS agriculture Bachu Khabad, and additional chief secretary (agriculture) Anju Sharma will inaugurate the 85 stalls at the Kesar Mango Festival 2025 have been allocated free of charge to farmer groups, natural farming FPOs, and individual mango producers.
