The festival showcases kesar mangoes from Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Narmada and Kutch regions."This platform eliminates middlemen, improving our profits and market reach," said Harsh Patel, a vendor from Talala. Another vendor Meet Vala, "Such events facilitate direct consumer interaction and motivate us to improve production."The state horticulture department's exhibition features diverse mango varieties from across India, including Totapuri from Andhra Pradesh, Rajapuri from Maharashtra and Langda from Uttar Pradesh.
Gujarat's mango production has shown impressive growth, recording a 10.9% CAGR with production of 2.4 lakh metric tonnes, according to the India 2024 Horticulture Report. Officials anticipate sales of over 2.50 lakh kilograms during the festival. The event has received positive response from visitors. "I have never seen so many mango varieties in one place. This is a good way to learn about horticulture and mango varieties," said local resident Meena Shah. Ramesh Solanki, a software engineer from Satellite, said, "This is more than just a fruit festival. It's a showcase of Gujarat's agri-excellence." Efforts underway to set up Mango Board in Chittoor: Prasada Rao
Chittoor: Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao stated that efforts are underway to establish a dedicated Mango Board in the district to support mango farmers, particularly those cultivating the Totapuri variety. He was speaking at a meeting of public representatives, officials, mango farmers and pulp industries representatives in Chittoor on Thursday which focused on ensuring a remunerative price for the Totapuri mango, which is widely cultivated in the region. During the meeting, farmers and processing company owners engaged in an in-depth discussion about the challenges they face. MP Prasad Rao emphasised that Chittoor district has a significant acreage under mango cultivation, particularly the Totapuri variety, which is essential for processing industries. He said that proposals for the establishment of a Mango Board have already been submitted to the concerned departments, and the matter has also been brought to the attention of the Union Minister. District Collector Sumit Kumar underlined the importance of coordination between farmers and processing companies during the mango season, especially regarding the pricing of the Totapuri variety. He added that farmers will be given priority in determining fair prices and that efforts will be made to ensure harmonious functioning of both agricultural and processing sectors with mutual support. Puthalapattu MLA K Murali Mohan stressed the need for long-term solutions rather than seasonal discussions. He also urged processing companies to support farmers in collaboration with the government. MLAs G Jagan Mohan (Chittoor) and Gali Bhanu Prakash (Nagari) also addressed the gathering. Farmers appealed to the government to ensure a remunerative price for the Totapuri variety and suggested linking mango cultivation with employment guarantee schemes. They also proposed exploring the possibility of distributing mango juice in local temples as a means to promote consumption. Representatives from processing companies also shared their views.

This summer, mangoes have taken the spotlight across India, with a clear surge in demand from both metro and non-metro cities. March and April saw a sharp rise in mango purchases, especially among the 25–30 age group. Cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, NCR, Pune, and Kolkata led the way, with Bengaluru recording the highest overall sales. Kesar and Alphonso were also the most searched varieties in April, along with rising interest in raw mangoes and mango-based treats. It wasn't just fresh mangoes in demand. Mango-flavoured products saw a notable rise—drinks and ice creams doubled, pickles and chutneys rose by 1.2 times, and dairy items like milkshakes and lassi grew by 1.4 times compared to January and February. Over 35% of customers returned for repeat purchases within two weeks, and weekends saw a 1.5 times increase in orders. One Mumbai customer placed 39 orders in a day, while someone in Faridabad ordered 76 in a month. Thanks to strong delivery networks, cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru delivered mangoes within 10 minutes even during peak afternoon hours. Tier 2 cities weren't far behind, matching those speeds. Andhra Pradesh aims to produce two lakh tonnes of export quality mangoes in two years
Visakhapatnam: The horticulture department in Andhra Pradesh is working to increase the volume of mango exports to various countries, including the UK, Australia, the Middle East, and the USA. To achieve this goal, the department plans to train farmers in three regions of the state to produce at least two lakh tonnes of export quality mangoes in the next two years. Andhra Pradesh is one of the largest producers of mangoes in the country, with districts like Eluru, Krishna, Annamayya, Chittoor, Tirupati, and Vizianagaram being home to some of the best export-quality mango varieties. The state grows a range of mango varieties, including Banginapalli, Chinna Rasalu, Pedda Rasalu, Totapuri, Neelam, and Suvarnarekha, with Benishan or Banginpalli being considered a premium table variety suitable for exports. Mango cultivation in Andhra Pradesh covers an area of 3.75 lakh hectares, with an estimated production of around 40 to 50 lakh tonnes. The average production of mango in the state is 10 to 12 tonnes per hectare. To give a boost to mango farming, the horticulture department has introduced mango cover technology, which has resulted in improved yields. The demand for the Banganapalli mango grown in Rayalaseema region and Nuzvid area of Eluru district has been increasing in the global market. The horticulture department has supplied fruit covers worth over ₹20 crore to thousands of farmers, covering around 10,000 hectares of land, at subsidized prices in the current mango season. The results have been impressive, with the fruit being bigger in size and having a perfect appearance. The department aims to produce at least two to three lakh tonnes of export-quality mangoes in the next two years. Despite challenges like climate change and pests, which have hit mango production in some regions, the demand for Andhra Pradesh's mango varieties, particularly Banganapalli, is increasing in the global market. The mango farmers in the region have managed to export around 600 tonnes of mangoes to other countries so far this season and are expected to export more in the coming weeks. The price of Banginapalli variety mangoes ranges from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 per tonne, depending on the quality and size. By exporting mangoes, growers and exporters can earn at least 30 to 40 percent more revenue compared to the domestic market. Andhra Pradesh had exported over 4,000 tonnes of mangoes to various countries in 2023 and 2024, and the state is poised to further increase its mango exports in the coming years.
