Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr praises Kuwait swimmers' success at Gulf Championship
KUWAIT CITY, July 12: President of Kuwaiti and Asian Aquatics Federations Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah praised the results achieved by Kuwaiti swimmers in the 29th Gulf Cooperation Council Championship hosted by Bahrain, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah made the statement while he is in Gstaad, Switzerland; indicating that the results reflect the great administrative and technical efforts of the technical staff of the national team; in addition to the dedication of Kuwaiti swimmers to achieve good results, win medals, and raises the Kuwaiti flag high in international forums. On the first day of the championship, the Kuwaiti athletes won eight medals. Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah congratulated Al-Qadsiya swimmer Rashed Al-Tarmoum for setting a new Kuwaiti record in the 50-meter race when he participated in the Swiss World Open Swimming Championship. Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah stressed that the Aquatics Federation continues to provide all forms of support to the national athletes, like top-level coaches, in addition to facilitating and supporting their participation in international competitions, and preparing them for competitions in the appropriate manner. He also indicated that these participations are part of the plan of the federation to prepare more champions for the upcoming competitions at the regional, continental, and international levels. The following are the achievements of Kuwaiti swimmers so far: Three gold medals for Saud Al-Shamroukh in the 1,500m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 4x200m freestyle (team) Two silver medals for Mohammad Zubaid in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke. One silver medal for Khaled Al-Otaibi in the 200m silver medals for Saud Al-Enezi in the 200m butterfly and 4x100m medley.

Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr: Asian aquatics poised for growth ahead of India Championship
KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The Executive Office of the Asian Aquatics Confederation (AAC) has officially approved India as the host of the upcoming Asian Aquatics Championships for National Teams, scheduled to take place in October. The event will feature competitions in four aquatic disciplines: water polo, swimming, diving, and synchronised swimming, with participation from all AAC member nations. Following the Executive Office meeting held in Kuwait, AAC President Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah announced the decision, highlighting the significance of the championships as a major gathering for the continent's top aquatic athletes. He emphasised that the event will provide a platform to showcase the growing talent across Asia in various aquatic sports. Sheikh Khaled underscored the AAC's commitment to organising its championships on a regular basis, noting that these events not only promote athletic excellence but also strengthen the bonds of friendship, solidarity, and unity among Asian nations. He added, 'Thanks to the ongoing efforts of the AAC and its member countries, Asia has emerged as a powerful force in aquatic sports at the World Championships and the Olympic Games, particularly in swimming and diving.' He reiterated the AAC's dedication to further developing aquatic disciplines throughout the continent. During the meeting, the Executive Office also approved the confederation's financial and administrative report for the past fiscal year. Sheikh Khaled expressed his gratitude to the committee members for their continued dedication to the advancement of Asian aquatics.

Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr commends the Public Authority for Sports for unwavering support
KUWAIT CITY, May 3: In the presence of Board Chair of the Kuwait Aquatics Federation (KAF) Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah, Vice Chair Hamid Al-Gharib, and representatives from sports clubs and companies, the General Assembly of the Kuwait Aquatics Federation approved the financial and administrative reports for the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. The estimated budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year was also approved. According to a press release, the General Assembly, which was held in the Olympic Committee's meeting room, endorsed the appointment of an auditor for the 2025/2026 fiscal year and discussed proposals submitted by sports clubs. During the meeting, Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr expressed his gratitude to the attending club and company representatives, as well as the members of the General Assembly, for the trust they have placed in the KAF Board of Directors and for its outstanding role in driving progress and advancing the field of aquatics. Sheikh Khaled also thanked the Public Authority for Sports for their support and for overcoming any challenges. In addition, he commended the full cooperation and coordination between KAF and the parents/guardians of both male and female players.

Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr mourns the loss of Major General Issa Al-Ali
KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The President of Kuwait and Asian Aquatics Federation (KAAF), Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah, on behalf of the KAAF Board of Directors and its members, mourned the passing of Major General (retired) Issa Shuaib Ibrahim Al-Ali — former President of the Sea Sports Club. Sheikh Al-Badr paid tribute to the late Al-Ali's distinguished sporting career, citing his tireless dedication to elevating the presence of Kuwait in regional and international sporting arenas. He described the deceased as a true embodiment of sportsmanship, marked by humility, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of sports in Kuwait. He also stated that with the passing of Al-Ali, the Kuwaiti sports community has lost one of its most loyal and respected figures. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the sports and aquatics communities, and all who knew and admired the late Al-Ali. He concluded with a prayer for Almighty Allah to grant mercy upon the departed soul and for strength and solace for his loved ones.

Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr attends the inauguration of the Gulf Beach Games
KUWAIT CITY, April 5, (Agencies): The Chair of the Kuwaiti and Asian Aquatics Federations, Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah, attended the opening ceremony of the 3rd Gulf Beach Games, which was held in Muscat on Saturday, April 5. According to a press release, Sheikh Khaled, before his departure, stated that the Gulf Beach Games is a distinguished sporting event and one of the most prominent competitions to be held in the Gulf countries in 2025. He expressed his full confidence in the capabilities and expertise of the sports institutions in the sisterly Sultanate of Oman to successfully organize this event. Sheikh Khaled highlighted that such events play a vital role in enhancing integration, facilitating the exchange of experiences, and elevating the technical and physical standards of athletes in the GCC countries. He stressed that the Omani Federation is one of the main pillars of Gulf Aquatics and is always striving to exchange expertise and continuously develop the aquatics system. Sheikh Khaled praised the tremendous efforts exerted by the relevant authorities in the Sultanate of Oman to provide all necessary facilities for the success of the Beach Games competition. This event, which brings together members of the GCC countries, will include eight sports and heritage events that will be held in a spirit of friendly competition. He affirmed the strong cooperation between the Asian Federation and the national federations of the member states to promote and elevate water sports throughout Asia so that Asia will remain a symbol of excellence in the Olympic Games and a global benchmark in the world of sports. Meanwhile, 65 athletes from Kuwait are competing across six sports: beach soccer, beach volleyball, sailing, paragliding, athletics, and tent pegging. The Kuwaiti air sports team kicked off its participation with paragliding competitions at Al-Jissah Beach, where they will compete in six rounds over the next two days. The team includes talented athletes Ibrahim Al-Rashoud, Ahmad Al-Madhi, Mohammad Al-Dousari, and Talal Al-Mutawa. The event aims to foster stronger sports cooperation among Gulf countries. Kuwaiti athletes are eager to achieve top results and proudly represent their country, hoping to raise the Kuwaiti flag on the podium. The Oman Olympic Committee has made extensive preparations for the games, ensuring a smooth event as the GCC countries, including Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar, come together to compete in a variety of beach sports. Founded in the early 1980s, the GCC has worked towards closer regional integration, not only in sports but across many sectors, and continues to unite the Gulf nations in sporting events like this one.
