Students Turn Waste Into Innovation
TDT | Manama
Palm fronds, fruit peels, glass shards, and even potato skins were transformed into innovative, eco-conscious products this week as more than 1,000 students from across Bahrain redefined sustainability at the 17th edition of INJAZ Bahrain's Young Entrepreneurs Competition.
Held in the presence of Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of INJAZ Bahrain, the competition brought together school and university teams with bold ideas to solve real-world environmental challenges, using recycled materials as the foundation for their inventions.
Among the standout projects was Tabuk, a University of Bahrain initiative that created bricks from recycled plastic and glass.
Qatrah, a team from the American University of Bahrain, built a smart water cooler that extracts humidity from the air and turns it into drinking water, using AI-powered sensors to improve performance.
