High-level security delegation from US visits Qatar
Tribune News Network DOHA The Security Committee of the Supreme Committee at Delivery & Legacy has received a high-level security delegation representing Federal Agencies and Local police authorities from the United States of America. The delegation was received by representatives of the Tournament Security Force from various security units involved in securing tournaments and events in the State of Qatar. The delegation's visit to the State of Qatar follows the recent visit of HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force 'Lekhwiya' - Chairman of the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy - to the United States. That visit witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Qatari Ministry of Interior and the US Department of Homeland Security, aimed at enhancing security cooperation between the two friendly countries and exchanging expertise in the field of securing major sporting events, particularly in the context of the ongoing preparations to secure the FIFA World Cup 2026.

SC security committee reviews steps to secure sporting events
QNA Doha HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force 'Lekhwiya' and Chairman of the Security Committee, chaired the first meeting of the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy at the National Command Centre (NCC). The meeting was attended by members of the committee from the military and security authorities. In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior said that they discussed ways to develop security strategies to secure the various events hosted by the State, in a way that ensures high readiness and comprehensive coordination among the concerned authorities. They also reviewed the ongoing preparations for hosting upcoming tournaments and sporting events, including Qatar's hosting of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix 2025, and the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025. Additionally, they discussed Qatar's participation in securing the 2026 Winter Olympics in the Italian Republic and the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States of America, and reviewed the preparations in the bid file for hosting the 2036 Olympics.

Interior minister attends graduation of first batch of Master's in Law, Master's in Security Studies programmes
QNA Doha Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police Academy HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the Master's in Law and Master's in Security Studies programmes at the College of Graduate Studies, comprising 17 graduates. The event also marked the graduation of the 10th mandatory qualification course for male university graduates at the Police College, with 76 graduates, and the 3rd mandatory course for female university graduates at the Women's Police Institute, with 17 graduates. The honouring ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Advisor to HH the Amir for Defence Affairs HE Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, in addition to a number of ministers, senior officials, and families of the graduates. Following the official ceremony, the Minister of Interior attended the graduation of the fourth group of the 'Tomorrow's Police' programme in its sixth edition (Summer 2025), which included 400 participants. The Master's programmes in Law and Security Studies aim to develop specialised legal and security competencies and enhance participants' research and analytical capabilities, keeping pace with contemporary legal and security challenges and serving the needs of state institutions. The mandatory qualification course for university graduates is a fundamental step in preparing qualified national cadres to work in a professional security environment through military training, specialised legal education, and the development of leadership skills and institutional discipline. The ceremony honoured outstanding students in various programmes. Cadet Officer Khalifa Rashid Abdullah Al Kuwari won first place in the mandatory qualifying course for males, while Cadet Officer Maha Hassan Al Nuaimi won first place in the course for female university graduates. The graduation ceremony for the sixth edition of the 'Tomorrow's Police' programme also included a visual film reflecting some of the programme's content, security presentations, and scenarios executed by the programme participants, and self-confidence-boosting skill demonstrations that reflected the high level of training and the qualitative benefits gained from the programme. The programme aims to instil national identity and a sense of loyalty and belonging in young people, promote noble values and responsibility, and contribute to community service and instill authentic Islamic and Arab principles through a variety of activities that develop leadership skills and enhance confidence among participating students. It also includes practical training to enhance capabilities in sports and military skills, as well as various educational and awareness-raising sessions. The programme's activities included numerous military and sports exercises and training, including infantry, shooting, swimming, self-defence, and various educational lectures.
