Interior minister attends graduation of first batch of Master's in Law, Master's in Security Studies programmes

Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police Academy HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the Master's in Law and Master's in Security Studies programmes at the College of Graduate Studies, comprising 17 graduates.
The event also marked the graduation of the 10th mandatory qualification course for male university graduates at the Police College, with 76 graduates, and the 3rd mandatory course for female university graduates at the Women's Police Institute, with 17 graduates.
The honouring ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Advisor to HH the Amir for Defence Affairs HE Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, in addition to a number of ministers, senior officials, and families of the graduates.
Following the official ceremony, the Minister of Interior attended the graduation of the fourth group of the 'Tomorrow's Police' programme in its sixth edition (Summer 2025), which included 400 participants.
The Master's programmes in Law and Security Studies aim to develop specialised legal and security competencies and enhance participants' research and analytical capabilities, keeping pace with contemporary legal and security challenges and serving the needs of state institutions.
The mandatory qualification course for university graduates is a fundamental step in preparing qualified national cadres to work in a professional security environment through military training, specialised legal education, and the development of leadership skills and institutional discipline.
The ceremony honoured outstanding students in various programmes. Cadet Officer Khalifa Rashid Abdullah Al Kuwari won first place in the mandatory qualifying course for males, while Cadet Officer Maha Hassan Al Nuaimi won first place in the course for female university graduates.
The graduation ceremony for the sixth edition of the 'Tomorrow's Police' programme also included a visual film reflecting some of the programme's content, security presentations, and scenarios executed by the programme participants, and self-confidence-boosting skill demonstrations that reflected the high level of training and the qualitative benefits gained from the programme.
The programme aims to instil national identity and a sense of loyalty and belonging in young people, promote noble values and responsibility, and contribute to community service and instill authentic Islamic and Arab principles through a variety of activities that develop leadership skills and enhance confidence among participating students. It also includes practical training to enhance capabilities in sports and military skills, as well as various educational and awareness-raising sessions.
The programme's activities included numerous military and sports exercises and training, including infantry, shooting, swimming, self-defence, and various educational lectures.

QNA Doha Holding the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Somalia in Doha today affirms Qatar and others the shared commitment to supporting Somalia and its people in their journey towards peace, stability, and development, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi said. The meeting aims to mobilise further international support to establish the foundations of security, development, and stability for the Somali people. In his remarks at the meeting held in Doha on Monday, Al Muraikhi pointed out that the meeting comes at a time when Somalia is facing complex challenges that threaten its security, stability, sovereignty, and economic growth, placing a double responsibility on everyone to unify efforts and support Somali national paths according to an integrated and comprehensive vision. He emphasised that respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia is a fundamental principle that cannot be compromised and constitutes the framework within which all international initiatives must operate. He called for the promotion of comprehensive national reconciliation, based on dialogue and openness, and inclusive of all stakeholders, thus contributing to bridging the rift and consolidating state institutions on the foundations of partnership and trust. Al Muraikhi noted that political reforms constitute a fundamental pillar in the process of state-building and enhancing stability in Somalia, whether through preparing for national elections, completing constitutional amendments, or supporting efforts to build transparent and effective democratic institutions. 'It is essential that this process be inclusive, engaging all Somali stakeholders, including the federal government, member states, influential community components, civil society, women, and youth, to ensure broad representation that enhances legitimacy and establishes sustainable solutions based on national consensus,' he added. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed that international efforts must support and complement, not replace, the paths led by the Somali Federal Government, respecting its sovereignty and strengthening its independent decision-making. He praised the joint efforts of the Quintet on Somalia, which includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkiye, and the United States of America, stressing the importance of continuing this constructive coordination to enhance stability and support Somali national paths. 'Security represents one of the key current challenges, especially in light of the continued threats posed by terrorist groups and the resurgence of tensions between local parties, Al Muraikhi added, emphasising the importance of supporting the federal government in strengthening its security capabilities, intensifying coordination between relevant agencies, and integrating community and development solutions within a comprehensive security approach. He noted that Somalia faces significant humanitarian challenges due to drought, food insecurity, and internal displacement, which calls for a coordinated and sustainable international response between international partners and humanitarian organisations to meet growing needs, while emphasising the need to link humanitarian support with development strategies that reduce reliance on emergency aid and help local communities to remain resilient. He affirmed that Qatar will continue to provide humanitarian, relief, and development support bilaterally, as well as through effective partnerships with United Nations agencies and international organisations, thus contributing to alleviating the suffering of those affected. The minister called for coordinated international efforts to avoid duplication and maximise impact, stressing the need for all such initiatives to be based on priorities set by the Somali government itself. He reiterated Qatar's unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia on all fronts, noting its belief that dialogue, partnership, and mutual respect between Somalis and their partners are the best path to building a strong and stable state. He also expressed Qatar's aspiration for a fruitful discussion at this meeting and for practical outcomes that will advance Somalia's future.

Qatari students discuss cultural identity at Arab Parliament for the Child
Tribune News Network Doha A delegation of Qatari students participated in the second session of the fourth session of the Arab Parliament for the Child, hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from July 22 to 26, 2025. Fifty-six members representing 14 Arab countries participated in the event, which strengthens the voice of Arab children and refines their leadership skills. The Qatari delegation comprised students Tarf Abdullah Al-Afeefa, Maryam Ali Al-Namlan, and Fahad Abdul Aziz Al-Maliki, along with educational supervisors Amer Al-Naimi and Shaima Kamal. They contributed to rich discussions centered around the 'cultural identity of the Arab child,' as one of the fundamental pillars in building generations and strengthening national and patriotic belonging. The sessions are held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the direct supervision of HE Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. This reflects a keen interest in the role of Arab children in shaping the present and anticipating the future. The session's programme included a series of specialised workshops and interactive dialogues, in addition to a plenary session during which the child parliamentarians expressed their views on cultural identity, based on working papers and analytical studies they had prepared themselves. This reflects the intellectual maturity and awareness of the nation's issues among Arab youth. This participation aligns with the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar to empower students and enhance their participation in regional and international forums, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar hosts meeting of OIC contact group on Somalia
QNA Doha The meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group kicked off on Sunday in Doha. The two-day meeting is being hosted by the State of Qatar. The preparatory meeting for senior staff was led by Assistant Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi. During the meeting, Al Hammadi highlighted the importance of collective work to support Somalia in confronting the challenges that the country is facing, and working on solutions based on a joint process in Somalia in cooperation with partners and stakeholders. He affirmed the State of Qatar's belief that sustainable solutions and ensuring the completion of development projects will break the cycle of needing foreign aid and create an infrastructure that will enable the government to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Somali people for development, progress, and prosperity.
