Al-Abdallat: Hashemite Leadership Embodies a National Vision for Youth Empowerment and Human Rights - Jordan News

Dr. Khalil Al-Abdallat, Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Prime Ministry of Jordan, affirmed that the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, with the direct support of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, forms the cornerstone of national efforts aimed at empowering youth, safeguarding their dignity, and ensuring their rights. اضافة اعلان His remarks came during the 24th Youth and Technology Conference held under the theme "Active Youth Participation and Human Rights", in cooperation with the Jordanian Women's Solidarity Institute (Tadamon) and the Jordanian National Women's Committees Network. The event gathered young Jordanian leaders, government entities, and national institutions to reaffirm Jordan's commitment to integrating youth as key partners in shaping the present and future through a human rights lens. Constitutional and Legislative Reforms Al-Abdallat highlighted tangible government measures to realize this vision, including constitutional amendments, lowering the age of candidacy, and modernizing laws that enhance youth participation in political, social, and economic spheres. Crown Prince's Global Role He emphasized Crown Prince Hussein's pioneering international efforts, notably his leadership in promoting UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security. 'The Crown Prince was the first to champion this resolution globally, calling on governments and the international community to recognize youth as peacebuilders, not just victims of conflict,' Al-Abdallat said. Alignment with International Obligations He also noted the government's alignment with international human rights commitments, particularly the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) recommendations, which call for enhanced youth involvement in public life, climate action, development, and human rights. In a direct message to young people, Al-Abdallat urged them to play a vital role in protecting human rights and upholding the values of good citizenship, asserting that they are the 'backbone of the modern state and the true guardians of justice, equality, and human dignity as envisioned by His Majesty.' Civil Society Collaboration Noha Mehrez, President of Tadamon, underscored the importance of engaging with decision-makers, particularly government units like the Human Rights Unit, given the critical role of civil society in implementing national strategies. In'am Asha, Executive Director and Advisor at Tadamon, said that the ongoing series of Youth and Technology Conferences reflect the organization's commitment to executing national programs and political will through sustained partnerships between civil society and official institutions. Dr. Zohour Gharaibeh, Project Manager of 'Sawt,' highlighted the significance of enhancing women's and youth participation in politics, aligning with the outcomes of Jordan's Political Modernization Committee. Ruba Matarneh, Secretary General of the Jordanian National Women's Committees Network, stressed the value of coordination among civil society organizations. She noted that unified efforts amplify impact and improve policy influence and government accountability, especially concerning youth and women's engagement in public life.

Al-Abdallat: The Royal Vision Strengthened the Advancement of the Health Sector and Human Rights - Jordan News

Al-Abdallat: The Royal Vision Strengthened the Advancement of the Health Sector and Human Rights Dr. Khalil Al-Abdallat, Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Prime Ministry, stated that the celebration of World Health Day this year, under the theme "Healthy Beginnings... One Future," emphasizes Jordan's steadfast commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to investing in people by advancing a fair and comprehensive healthcare system for all who live in the Kingdom. اضافة اعلان In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Al-Abdallat affirmed that this occasion reflects the strategic attention His Majesty the King has given to improving the health sector in Jordan, considering it one of the pillars of national development and a key foundation for strengthening social stability and human well-being. He added that the King's continuous directives have focused on developing healthcare infrastructure, expanding services, and providing integrated care for all segments of society, including women, children, the elderly, refugees, and residents. He pointed out that Jordan has become a model in the region and the world for providing high-quality healthcare services and exporting medical and administrative expertise to various countries, thanks to its advanced health institutions, qualified human resources, and technological expertise in public health and medical care. Al-Abdallat further added that in line with this royal vision, the Jordanian government continues its efforts through the diligent follow-up of the Prime Minister to update and develop the national health system through comprehensive reform plans. These plans focus on the equitable geographical distribution of services, improving the efficiency of personnel, and intensifying national prevention and early detection programs, with a particular focus on women's and children's health and ensuring a healthy environment for the safe and proper growth of future generations. He emphasized that as part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts, the Jordanian government is working on implementing the national health strategy, which focuses on several key areas, including enhancing service quality, good governance of the sector, developing health information systems, and expanding primary and preventive care services. The strategy also places special attention on activating comprehensive health insurance to ensure broader access to health services for various segments of society. This strategy aligns with the economic modernization vision and administrative modernization vision, both of which consider health as one of the core pillars of national transformation. Al-Abdallat noted that as part of Jordan's health diplomacy, the country has contributed to enhancing regional and international cooperation through strategic partnerships with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and several donor organizations. As a result, Jordan has become a leading platform for exchanging health expertise. Jordan also hosts numerous training programs for doctors and nurses from neighboring countries and operates field health centers in conflict areas, based on the deep belief that human health is not limited to any one country or people but is a collective human responsibility. He highlighted Jordan's pioneering role in providing healthcare to refugees and host communities, stating that Jordan offers comprehensive medical services in cooperation with the UNHCR and many international humanitarian organizations. Al-Abdallat pointed out that international partnerships have played a role in reinforcing this mission. He cited field hospitals set up in conflict-affected areas such as Gaza and the West Bank as examples of Jordan's humanitarian leadership in supporting the most vulnerable communities. He emphasized that this constant commitment to supporting human rights reflects the national culture of solidarity and humanitarian care, which has shaped His Majesty the King's vision for protecting human life and dignity, and consolidating Jordan's position as a supporter of peace and regional stability. Al-Abdallat concluded by reaffirming Jordan's ongoing commitment to developing national health legislation and aligning it with international human rights agreements, particularly the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. This is in addition to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, with the third goal focused on good health and well-being. He also mentioned that the government, in collaboration with national and international institutions, is working to strengthen human capacity in the health sector through continuous training, improving skills, and providing a safe and motivating professional environment for the workforce, which enhances the quality and efficiency of the services provided. -- (Petra)

Al-Abdallat: Jordanian women's achievements reflect Hashemite leadership's vision

Ammon News - The Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Prime Minister's Office Khalil Al-Abdallat, marked International Women's Day by acknowledging the significant strides Jordanian women have made under the kingdom's visionary Hashemite leadership. "On International Women's Day, we stand proudly before the achievements of Jordanian women, which are the fruit of the wise Hashemite leadership's vision and the commitment of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to establishing women's role as essential partners in nation-building and enhancing their status across various fields," Al-Abdallat stated. He noted that Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II continues to support young Jordanian women through innovative initiatives focused on skills development, encouraging innovation, and strengthening women's participation in technology, entrepreneurship, and the competitive job market. Recent years have witnessed fundamental reforms enhancing women's status and rights, Al-Abdallat explained. The latest constitutional amendments reinforced principles of equality and non-discrimination while boosting women's participation in public and political life. The comprehensive framework of political, economic, and public sector reforms has played a vital role in creating new opportunities for women and providing supportive environments for their participation in decision-making processes at both national and local levels. The Jordanian government, following royal directives, has enacted progressive policies and legislation aimed at empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities. These include strengthening women's representation in elected councils, launching economic programs supporting female-led entrepreneurial projects, and enhancing legal and social protections for women across sectors. The past several years have also seen substantial amendments to labor laws aimed at improving the work environment for women, ensuring equal opportunities, and providing greater support for working mothers to enhance their economic and social stability. Al-Abdallat emphasized the importance of maximizing women's roles across various sectors and strengthening their participation in political and parliamentary work. He highlighted that specialized parliamentary committees play a key role in drafting legislation and policies supporting women's rights and ensuring their empowerment in decision-making positions. He also underscored the pivotal role of the Jordanian National Committee for Women's Affairs in formulating national policies that promote women's rights and ensure the integration of their issues into development plans, contributing to a comprehensive approach that enhances women's standing in society. "Economic empowerment of women is a fundamental step toward achieving sustainable development," Al-Abdallat said. "Modern economic reforms provide greater opportunities for women in entrepreneurship and innovation. The government, in partnership with the private sector, has supported small and medium enterprises managed by women and provided training programs aimed at enhancing their ability to enter local and global markets, increasing their contribution to the national economy." Al-Abdallat further highlighted Jordan's achievements in supporting refugee women, describing the kingdom as an exemplary model in providing protection and care under King Abdullah's leadership. He noted that Jordan continues to ensure refugee women's rights through health, educational, social services, and economic empowerment. "Our vision for the future is based on building a state of law and institutions that guarantees the principles of equality, justice, and equity," Al-Abdallat concluded. "Today, as we celebrate Jordanian women's achievements, we affirm that the journey continues, and that Jordan, under its wise leadership, is moving forward in empowering women and enhancing their role, not just for their sake, but for a brighter future for Jordan and all Jordanians."
