BTS' Jin admits he doesn't speak to Jungkook ‘carelessly' despite being his hyung, says ‘We have scary fans'
BTS' oldest member, Jin, recently appeared on tvN's variety show Handsome Guys. Having made his acting debut in Netflix's Kian's Bizarre B&B, he has now become a top celebrity choice for producers, who believe his wit and easygoing charm can instantly boost a show. The Epiphany singer joined Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Dong Hyun, Lee Yi Kyung, Shin Seung Ho, and Oh Sang Uk for a food-themed trip around Seoul's Hannam-dong area, and while chatting with the team, he revealed the names of two BTS members who are big foodies and would be perfect for this kind of trip. Fans were excited to see him back, especially because he was part of the show's very first episode. In one scene, the cast was sitting around a table enjoying dishes when, all of a sudden, the focus shifted to which BTS members would also fit in with the Handsome Guys crew. Jin revealed, 'I think the concept of the show fits Jungkook. Jungkook really eats well.' The group's maknae sure does love eating, as shown in various BTS variety shows including In the SOOP and Run BTS, where the Euphoria crooner could be seen bugging Jin to cook something delicious for him and even goofing around in the kitchen experimenting with dishes. Next up, Jin revealed, 'I think V would match the team's vibe well. He has a laid-back personality that can take jokes well.' For the unversed, Taehyung also appeared on a cooking reality show earlier, titled Jinny's Kitchen. He said, 'Since I'm '96, you guys can appear on the show as my juniors.' Kim Dong Hyun then added, 'Will you be okay after this?' Jin didn't miss the chance to chime in and warned, 'We have scary fans,' he said with a straight yet playful tone. 'Even I don't speak carelessly to Jungkook.' Even as his hyung, being born in 1992, the oldest, admitted he's careful with his words when it comes to Jungkook because of how protective fans can be. Oh Sang Uk instantly changed his tone and nervously asked, 'Should I send him a video message?' He ended up saying, 'I hope you can join us on the show once. We're even willing to follow you abroad, so please let us know if you have the time. We will go to you,' He bowed politely while saying it, leaving the rest of the cast in stitches. Despite what Jin says, fans were quick to jump into the conversation, saying they don't have a problem with Jin bossing around Jungkook and V, as they enjoy their banter and even praised the Astronaut crooner's kind and careful nature towards the members. One fan said, 'But we love when you school Jungkookie like an absolute hyung.' Another said, 'We are not that scary when it comes to members—we are protective of each one of you.' A third added, 'But with Jin and Jungkook, they are the ultimate duo who can't go a day without bickering.' As for Jin, who returned from his military service earlier, he announced his first solo world tour back in April that included 9 global cities, South Korea, Japan, California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, London, Amsterdam, and more. The tour will continue till August. Meanwhile, in June, all 7 BTS members will reunite upon the discharge of RM, Jungkook, Taehyung, Suga, and Jimin, who are still in service.

TV & Film Picks: Kian's Bizarre B&B, Bjork: Cornucopia, The Accountant 2
(From left) BTS' Jin with cartoonist-host Kian84 and actress Ji Ye-eun in Netflix's South Korean variety series Kian's Bizarre B&B. PHOTO: NETFLIX Kian's Bizarre B&B Netflix The nine-episode South Korean variety series is the brainchild of popular South Korean webtoonist-TV host Kim Hee-min. Better known by his pen name Kian84, he designed a quirky guesthouse set on a floating barge in the ocean off Ulleungdo Island, a popular holiday destination in South Korea. Together with boy band BTS' Jin and South Korean actress Ji Ye-eun, the trio host holidaymakers in a space where guests have to climb a rock wall to enter and go down a slide to exit. Sleeping arrangements are bunk beds suspended on the external walls, where guests must brave the elements. The dining area is on a lower level accessible only via a fireman's pole and guests are asked to eat with their hands to be 'one with the food'. While the series lives up to its 'bizarre' title, it should also be called The Jin Show as the K-pop global star is the anchor of the show. Not only does he cook and clean, but he is also the voice of reason in chaotic situations. His disarming appeal and natural comic timing keep the otherwise ridiculous show afloat. Kian's Bizarre B&B is one of Netflix's global top 10 non-English shows since its premiere on April 8. The trio have since teased their return with a second season. Bjork: Cornucopia 99 minutes, exclusively at The Projector on May 7 Concert film Bjork: Cornucopia will be released in 500 cinemas in more than 25 countries on May 7. PHOTO: SANTIAGO FELIPE Bjork's theatrical concert film Cornucopia will be released in 500 cinemas in more than 25 countries on May 7, and fans of the Icelandic singer can watch the film exclusively at The Projector on the same day. Cornucopia is taken from Bjork's eponymous concert in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of her concert world tour, which debuted in 2019 in New York City and ended in Bordeaux, France, in 2023. Known for her avant-garde live performances and groundbreaking music, Bjork told music publication Rolling Stone in 2023 that the concert tour was the most ambitious project she had travelled with. The film features three new music videos and includes 25 minutes of extra content not found in the version released on Apple TV+ in January. Featuring material from her 2017 album Utopia and 2022's Fossora, the film also incorporates instruments such as a magnetic harp, a circular flute and an aluphone . Where: 05-01 Cineleisure, 8 Grange Road MRT: Somerset When: May 7, 8pm Admission: $16 Info: The Accountant 2 (NC16) 132 minutes, now showing ★★★☆☆ (From left) Jon Bernthal and Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2. PHOTO: WBEI The actioner picks up eight years after the events of The Accountant (2016) and, this time, Ben Affleck's Christian, an accountant who is autistic , is joined by brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) to take down a criminal organisation. The Accountant was among the first Hollywood movies to view autism as something akin to a comic-book superpower. It also showed that Christian was trained by his strict military father to suppress the 'bad' traits while letting the 'good' ones through, like his ability to memorise and regurgitate the United States tax code. The film is fairly decent in delivering competent action and suspense, as one would expect from action film franchises such as The Equalizer (2014 to 2023) or Jack Reacher (2012 and 2016). Perhaps realising that Affleck's character works best when placed against a foil, the story brings in Braxton early on, so the two can spend the rest of the movie swopping bro banter and working out their issues while mowing down waves of henchmen. – John Lui Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

BTS Jin shines in Netflix's reality show, announces comeback album
Seoul, South Korea – BTS star Jin is making headlines both on screen and in the recording studio this month, as he takes centre stage in Netflix's eccentric new variety show Kian's Bizarre B&B and prepares to release his second solo album Echo in May. During a press conference held in Seoul on Tuesday, Jin spoke candidly about his experience filming the unconventional reality series, which is set in a quirky guesthouse on Ulleung Island. Despite suggestions to tone down the show's more inconvenient features, such as outdoor beds and a fireman's pole connecting floors, Jin insisted on maintaining the original concept. 'When suggestions for changes came up, I argued against them because they weren't in line with the programme's original direction,' he said. 'Of course, we made changes to improve safety for the guests and crew, but the core idea should remain intact.' The show stars TV personality and artist Kim Hee-min—better known as Kian84—as the host of the bizarre bed and breakfast, with Jin and actress Ji Ye-eun joining as staff. The concept, which blends elements of military life with a lodge-style retreat, is meant to foster camaraderie among guests through its deliberately inconvenient setup. 'If you stay in a conventional place, you'll enjoy it but forget it,' said Kian84. 'But if it's inconvenient and unique, it encourages more interaction and becomes memorable.' Despite its whimsical vibe, the filming process proved physically and emotionally draining. Kian84 admitted to breaking down after just two days of managing the guesthouse, crediting Jin for helping him pull through. Jin, who anticipated the challenges, said he was drawn to the project out of curiosity after repeatedly encountering Kian84 content in his YouTube recommendations. 'I wanted to know if he really carries a spoon or toothbrush in his pocket, or lies down immediately after eating—and yes, he truly does,' Jin laughed. Produced by the creators of the 2017–2018 hit Hyori's Homestay , Kian's Bizarre B&B premiered its first three episodes on April 8. Three additional episodes are set to drop later today, with the final set releasing on April 22. Meanwhile, BigHit Music also announced on Tuesday that Jin will release his second solo EP, Echo , on May 16 at 1pm (KST). The seven-track album marks his return just six months after his previous solo release, Happy . In a statement, the agency said the early release reflects Jin's desire to stay connected with fans. To promote the upcoming album, a video message is currently playing every 30 minutes on the massive K-pop Square screen at COEX in southern Seoul, running daily from 6am to 11:30pm until Saturday. With his schedule filled with both screen appearances and musical projects, Jin continues to showcase his versatility and charm, delighting fans across the globe.

'Kian's Bizarre B&B' takes on bed and breakfast in ocean with BTS Jin and 'SNL Korea' star
Celebrities explore guesthouse experience in space dreamt up by star cartoonist Netflix Korea's latest original variety show, "Kian's Bizarre B&B," brings together one of South Korea's most popular cartoonists Kian84, BTS superstar Jin and "Saturday Night Live Korea" star Ji Ye-eun for an imaginative take on the guesthouse reality format. Set aboard a bed and breakfast in the middle of the ocean near Ulleung-do, the series follows the trio as they host a rotating cast of guests in a space dreamt up by Kian84 himself. The artist's vision, translated into a fully built set, features fantastical elements like a rock-climbing entrance, cocoon-shaped tea rooms and slide exits. The series is helmed by producer Jung Hyo-min, who created one of Korea's most beloved celebrity guesthouse shows, "Hyori's Homestay." Jung revealed during a press conference Tuesday in Jung-gu, Seoul, that the concept for "Kian's Bizarre B&B" took shape as he explored ways to reimagine "Hyori's Homestay" for a more contemporary audience. 'I think I worked on 'Hyori's Homestay' around 2018. Since then, I've continued working with writer Yoon Shin-hye, and we would sometimes talk about this during planning meetings -- what could a modern version of a guesthouse variety show look like?' said Jung. 'But we always hit a wall. ... No matter who we considered casting, we kept wondering -- could it ever be more interesting than 'Hyori's Homestay'?' he added. Then came cartoonist Kian84, who rose to rockstar celebrity status with his quirky personality on a slew of popular Korean entertainment shows. 'If (the show led by Kian84) were to happen, it seemed like it would naturally turn into a show with a completely different vibe from traditional guesthouse programs,' Jung explained. Much of that new energy came from the outlandish setting, originally sketched by Kian84. Producer Lee So-min shared that the production team was committed to translating Kian84's artistic vision into reality. 'We wanted to bring our imagination to life just as we had envisioned it and we hoped the set would closely match Kian84's drawings,' said Lee. 'The art director, who has worked on many beautiful projects like 'Youn's Kitchen,' said, 'This is the kind of house that a professional would never even imagine.' The art director happily took it on as a new and exciting challenge.' The casting of Jin added even more star power and potential to the project. The producers said they aimed to showcase new sides of the BTS member rarely seen in his previous variety appearances. 'Ji Ye-eun was recommended by Kian84, and as for Jin, when I saw him in some of his variety content, it felt like not even a tenth of his charm was coming through,' said Jung. 'I thought that if we could bring out (Jin's) charm through this kind of variety show, it could be a win for everyone.'
