UFC 319 faces disruption after back-to-back fight cancellations within 24 hours

King Green (Image Source: Getty) Sudden upheaval has struck UFC 319, which was set to be headlined by the highly anticipated middleweight title clash between champion Dricus du Plessis and challenger Khamzat Chimaev. Injuries sidelined two primary undercard bouts just a day before fight night in Chicago; the fights on the eve of the main card were aimed at building momentum for the main card. It is this rare double punch that has made the promotion scramble, changing the card at the last minute. King Green vs. Diego Ferreira pulled as Green says 'I can't walk' The first match to fall was that of UFC veteran King Green vs. Diego Ferreira, a lightweight bout which was withdrawn with less than 48 hours to go until UFC 319 after Green sustained an undisclosed injury. Then Green posted a very emotional, bloody, and 'real' Instagram story after, which read: "I said I would never pull out of a fight… this one is different. I can't even f***ing walk.' Ferreira, who had been pursuing the fight for some time, expressed his frustration but remained optimistic about the possibility of rescheduling. He labeled Green as "a veteran" and said he wished it had happened later in the process. The only casualty of the rearrangement is UFC 319 losing its marquee middleweight title fight. TUF 33 welterweight finale also cancelled, to be rescheduled Within three hours of the Green-Ferreira fight being scratched, another bout fell through, this one the welterweight final of Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 33 between Rodrigo Sezinando and Daniil Donchenko. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Pieces of Clothing Older Women should Avoid Learn More Undo The reason for the cancellation comes from a fight week injury, though it is now known which of the two fighters has been struck down. U FC officials intend to rebook the match for later, and several outlets report that Noche UFC 3 on September 13 in San Antonio is the new target. A flyweight TUF finale between Alibi Idiris and Joseph Morales is still on the card and remains tentatively slated to move forward as scheduled. UFC adds fresh matchup in the middleweight division To balance out the card and to make sure that it doesn't decline depth, the UFC quickly added a middleweight bout featuring a pair of newcomers: Baisangur Susurkaev (9-0) and Eric Nolan (8-3). Susurkaev had only booked his place in the Octagon at a Tuesday finish on Dana White's Contender Series, while Nolan rides in off a four-fight win streak. That being said, the headline attraction is still intact while providing new interest with a newly minted middleweight clash. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

King Green releases depressing statement following UFC 319 withdrawal – ‘I can't walk'

Bummer. Earlier today, 27-fight Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran King Green withdrew from UFC 319, scheduled for this weekend (Sat., Aug. 16, 2025), due to an injury. He was set to face fellow UFC veteran Diego Ferreira in the 'Prelims' headliner at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Green posted a statement on his Instagram Story hours after the news broke 'I worked so hard to get here, so hard. I went through a lot of bullshit to get here,' Green said. 'Back in the day, I've had pull-outs, but somewhere along the line, I said I would never pull out of a fight again. If I have to f—king limp my ass there, I'll limp myself into the cage, but I won't pull out.' 'This one is a little different. I can't even f—king walk, guys,' Green continued. 'If I had a broken hand, I would say anything, I'd just fight. I'm sorry to anyone that I let down. I let myself down even more; it just sucks. I got people who look up to and need me. I got the crutches here, it is what it is…I'm really sorry.' Green (32-17-1) is riding a two-fight losing streak, getting finished in the first round in both of them. In his most recent outing, he was on the end of one of the best knockouts of 2025, a spinning wheel kick from Mauricio Ruffy (watch highlights) The exact injury that Green is dealing with is currently unknown at this time. UFC 319 lineup hit by injuries: King Green withdraws from undercard bout saying he 'can't even walk'

With UFC 319 still two days away, the lineup has lost two scheduled bouts due to injury. King Green, who had been scheduled to face Carlos Diego Ferreira on the undercard of Saturday's pay-per-view event in Chicago, said his injury was so severe it forced him to break his own rule ahead of the fight. 'Back in the days I've had pullouts, but somewhere along the line I said I'm not ever pulling out of a fight,' Green said in a video posted to his Instagram account Thursday afternoon. 'If I got to f***ing limp my ass there, I'll limp into the cage. I'm never pulling out. This one is a little bit different. I can't even f***ing walk, guys.' Green showed off his crutches in the video, but did not elaborate on specifics about the injury. Ferreira said he was midway through his weight cut when he was informed Green was out, but said he wasn't given a reason for the withdrawal. It's the second bout on the UFC 319 fight card to suffer a late scratch. The prelim fight between Rodrigo Sezinando and Daniil Donchenko that was to serve as the welterweight final of the most recent season of 'The Ultimate Fighter' was called off after Sezinando pulled out with a late injury. TUF 33, coached by Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen, still has a flyweight final between Alibi Idiris and Joseph Morales slated for the UFC 319 lineup. The welterweight final between Sezinando and Donchenko is expected to be rescheduled for later this year. As for Green, this fight was to be his attempt to snap a two-fight losing skid. The 38-year-old lightweight has lost three of his last four. There's no word yet on when he might be able to return to action, or whether the bout with Ferreira will be rescheduled. The current UFC 319 lineup now includes 13 bouts, with UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev serving as Saturday night's main event.

Diego Ferreira vs. King Green scrapped from UFC 319

Just days away from UFC 319, the card has taken a hit. The lightweight bout between Diego Ferreira (19-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC) and King Green (32-17-1 MMA, 13-12-1 UFC) has been scrapped from Saturday's event (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) at United Center in Chicago for undisclosed reasons. The matchup was the featured prelim of the night. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news to MMA Junkie after an initial report from The UFC later announced the change. Ferreira was looking to return to the win column after losing a unanimous decision to Grant Dawson at UFC 311. Prior to that, the 40-year-old scored back-to-back Performance of the Night knockouts of Michael Johnson and Mateusz Rebecki. Meanwhile, Green has lost three of his past four fights, all by finish. After defeating Jim Miller at UFC 300, Green was finished in back-to-back fights against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, and Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 313. Below is the updated UFC 319 lineup: Champ Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev – for middleweight title Lerone Murphy vs. Aaron Pico Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott Gerald Meerschaert vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk Jessica Andrade vs. Loopy Godinez Alexander Hernandez vs. Chase Hooper Edson Barboza vs. Drakkar Klose Bryan Battle vs. Nursulton Ruziboev Dione Barbosa vs. Karine Silva Alibi Idiris vs. Joseph Morales – 'TUF 33' flyweight final This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Diego Ferreira vs. King Green off UFC 319

Last-minute injury shakes up UFC 319 fight card, no replacement sought

Well, this sucks. King Green suffered an injury during fight week and was forced to withdraw from his Diego Ferreira bout, which was expected to serve as the featured 'Prelims' contest in this weekend's UFC 319 lineup. Ferreira told he was off the card, with later confirming the injury to Green. It's been a rough couple of years for Green, who turns 39 in just a few weeks. The longtime MMA veteran (32-17-1, 1 NC) has dropped two straight and three of his last four, suffering first-round finishes in all three losses. As for the 40 year-old Ferreira, he fell to 19-6 after losing a decision to Grant Dawson in January. UFC 319 will be headlined by the middleweight title fight pitting current middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis, against undefeated contender, Khamzat Chimaev. The featherweight co-main event features the debut of former Bellator bruiser Aaron Pico, who looks to blemish the unbeaten record of savvy striker Lerone Murphy. LIVE!
