Oasis at Murrayfield LIVE as Edinburgh prepares for Gallagher mania

It's the day that Scots Oasis fans have been waiting for. The Manchester Britpop icons take to the Murrayfield stage tonight for the first of a three-night run series of gigs in the capital. The show marks the Gallagher brothers triumphant live return to the country that made them for the first time in 16 years. Last night, Liam sent followers with tickets to the Edinburgh gigs into a frenzy as he shared a nostalgic social media video which showcased the group's legendary Scottish performances over the decade, including T in the Park, King Tut's, Balloch Castle Country Park and the SECC. Oasis last played in Scotland in June 2009 as part of their Dig Out Your Soul tour. Preparations have been underway for weeks in Edinburgh and it's safe to say the area is buzzing for the Gallagher duo to belt out their most iconic hits. Like all of the shows on the Oasis 2025 reunion tour, the Edinburgh dates are sold out, and fans from far flung spots have been gathering in the city over the past few days, including followers from South Korea and Germany, determined to bag some of the merchandise on offer at the site ahead of the much anticipated concerts. Earlier this month, Oasis kicked off their string of sold-out reunion shows at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, before they headed to Manchester and London ahead of the Edinburgh and Dublin dates on their UK and Ireland leg of the show. The supporting acts are The Verve's Richard Ashcroft and Liverpool band Cast, and fans have been promised to be transported back to the 90s with the lineup. After their Edinburgh shows, Oasis will head to Dublin for two dates. The first leg of their UK tour will wrap up at the city's Croke Park on August 17. From there, Oasis will head across the Atlantic for shows in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City, before returning to London for two additional Wembley dates at the end of September. The tour then continues through Asia, Australia and South America, with the final show set for November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil. We've got all the hot takes and information you need to know if you're headed to Edinburgh over the next few days, or simply want to stay on top of all the action...

When did Oasis last play at Murrayfield as Britpop icons come to Edinburgh in days?

Oasis are making a long-awaited return to Scotland in just a matter of days. On August 8, 9, and 12, Liam and Noel Gallagher - and the rest of the band - will perform north of the border once more. It's been 16 long years since the Britpop icons played in Scotland - so this run of gigs are highly anticipated. Oasis kicked off their reunion tour in Cardiff on July 4. They then headed to Heaton Park in Manchester for a five-night series of hometown shows. They are currently in the midst of a run at Wembley in London, with our reporter Fionnuala Boyle making the trip to the UK capital for one of the shows. Once they finish up at Wembley, it's Scotland's turn. More than 200,000 music fans will descend on Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh over the trio of shows. Classics like Wonderwall and Live Forever will be belted out from the home of Scottish rugby and the shows are likely to be something revellers remember for a long time to come. With Oasis making their iconic return to Scotland in just a few short days, some music fans have been left wondering about the Gallaghers' relationship with Scotland, and whether they've ever graced the stage at Murrayfield before. Well, here's everything you need to know about the brothers' past Scottish gigs. Have Oasis played Murrayfield Stadium before? Oasis played Murrayfield Stadium twice, most recently in 2009, just before their infamous argument. They played in June, mere weeks before their last ever gig for 16 years. The band also previously played Murrayfield in the year 2000. Some other notable Scottish gigs that the pair have played include the show at King Tut's in Glasgow in May 1993 that got them signed, as well as Plaza and Cathouse in December of the same year, also both in Glasgow. Oasis played a series of gigs in Scotland in 1994, including Gleneagles, La Belle Angel in Edinburgh, Tramway in Glasgow, and the iconic long-gone Scots festival T in the Park. Other legendary Scottish venues and festivals that saw Oasis take stage before their break-up included Glasgow's Barrowlands, Glasgow Green Festival and Edinburgh's Usher Hall, according to their 'gigography'. Can you still buy tickets for the Oasis reunion dates in Edinburgh? General admission for the Edinburgh dates sold out almost instantly, like all of the tour dates for Oasis' reunion. However, several other options still exist to try and bag resale tickets, although you'll have to be quick on the ball. Twickets is a reselling site that offers a platform for fans to sell their tickets at face value or less. If you're lucky, you could catch a ticket this way, but be careful- if you blink you could miss it. Show more Ticketmaster also offers a verified ticket resale service, but again, you'll have to be vigilant to catch one before it sells again. After their many UK dates, including the three Edinburgh shows, the Oasis tour then goes worldwide with dates in Brazil, Australia, South Korea, Japan and the US. Coatbridge man who witnessed birth, death and resurrection of Oasis believes Scottish gigs will be special

Andy Bollen's book about the night they were discovered in King Tut's is flying off the shelves A book by a Coatbridge author who was there the night Oasis were 'discovered' while performing at Glasgow's King Tut's has been flying off the shelves as the band returns to Scotland. ‌ Andy Bollen was there, and his recently-released book Definitely Maybe: The Birth, Death and Resurrection of Oasis tells the inside story of that night at the venue. ‌ The memoir based is around the night Alan McGee first heard Oasis which led to them being offered a record deal. ‌ 'It's been pretty mental the last few months, Andy said. 'In a nice way. It's doing well and flying off the shelves. I suppose the book's gone supersonic. I've been busy doing in-store signings, podcasts and radio shows. It feels like something special is happening.' Andy had been involved in bands before turning to writing, and also penned a book about touring with Nirvana. ‌ Standing next to Alan McGee in King Tut's on that night in 1993, he observed as the Creation Records boss raved about the then unknown Manchester band playing in the near-empty venue. Andy didn't immediately share McGee's feeling that he was witnessing something magical. ‌ 'I think there should be a statue or plaque outside King Tut's, said Andy. 'McGee was a genius for spotting something. I didn't see it. I thought they were a year too late and a bit 'Manchester'–sounding. Factory Records thought the same. They rejected them with a note saying 'too baggy'. 'We now know Alan McGee needed something more mainstream to suit Sony, who were bankrolling Creation. Like Andrew Loog Oldham or Malcolm McLaren, he was more of an old-school talent spotter that night. He spotted the good-looking, sneering singer with the attitude and the loud rock 'n' roll sound and sensed the next fashion move emerging from the street." ‌ The Britpop icons are back together after brothers Liam and Noel made up after a 16-year fallout and will perform three dates at Murrayfield this week as part of the Live25 Reunion Tour. 'Oasis and Scotland will forever be entwined by the whole Oasis King Tut's night, said Andy. 'It has almost been 'Glasgowfied'. I'm surprised the Duke of Wellington traffic cone hasn't been temporarily replaced with an Oasis-branded Adidas bucket hat.' Andy, who was born in Bellshill and raised in Airdrie, had time to consider, reflect and update his book since he first started writing it over a decade ago and is looking forward to seeing the Gallagher brothers together again. ‌ He said: 'I'm certainly ready for the reunion. It's wrong to say, but sometimes I enjoyed the chaos between the two brothers when they had those very public spats — some of it was fantastic. They are so funny. I just felt the further apart they become, the more dramatic the reunion.' The book dispels myths about the night and tales of stage invasions. ‌ Andy continued: 'So many claim to have been there, and I knew there were about 14 people there.' The biggest story – about Creation Records boss Alan McGee's involvement – is also explained in detail and finally unveiled. ‌ 'It's amazing to think they've become one of those generational bands,' Andy added. 'That's why there were so many issues with Ticketmaster last year. 'They expected a few million applications and broke the internet when six million were looking for tickets. 'The shows until now have been superb, but I think the Scottish gigs will be special.' Oasis play Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9 and 12.

Best Liam Gallagher Quotes: Here are 21 funny and interesting things Gallagher Jnr has said - "She can't even chew gum and walk in a straight line, let alone write a book."

The Oasis reunion is officially underway, with the Britpop band playing three dates at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9 and 12. It'll be the latest chapter in the story of Oasis in Scotland , starting with a tiny gig at King Tut's in Glasgow when they were famously 'discovered' by manager Alan McGee, who signed them up to Creation Records. The early reviews from the tour have been glowing, so it seems like those who were lucky enough to bag a ticket are in for a real treat, with a killer setlist . Of course the Gallagher brothers are almost as famous for their scathing wit as they are for their music, particularly when engaged in their favourite sport - squabbling with each other. As the clock ticks down to those epic gigs in August, we're looking at 26 of Liam's most memorable quotes. And you can check out Noel's here. 1 .
