Arebetta railway station is being upgraded: Rly min
Mangaluru: The ministry of railways has decided to develop Arebetta railway station as a crossing station on the Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road ghat section of the Hassan-Mangaluru railway line. In response to an unstarred question raised in the Lok Sabha by Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, on whether a feasibility study was undertaken by South Western Railway (SWR) to upgrade Arebetta railway station into a crossing station to enhance ghat section capacity, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company Limited (HMRDCL) agreed to bear the cost of development of Arebetta railway station as a crossing station. Adequate safety measures such as flattening of slopes, provision of rock fall barrier protection, provision of boulder netting for arresting boulder fall, provision of gabion wall, and improvements to side drains were taken to enhance safety in the Sakaleshpur-Subramanya Road ghat section, especially in view of the past challenges caused by landslides. The minister stated that the railway electrification works were completed in the Subrahmanya Road to Shiribagilu (14 RKm) and Sakleshpur-Donigal (9 RKm) sections of South Western Railway (SWR). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Secret Lives of the Romanovs — the Last Rulers of Imperial Russia! The completion of electrification projects depends on various factors like forest clearances by officials of the forest department, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and topographical conditions of the area, law and order situation in the area of the project site, and the number of working months in a year for a particular project site due to climatic conditions. All these factors affect the completion time of the projects. The electrification of the critical Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road ghat section of the South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru division, is expected to be completed by Oct, potentially bringing the proposed Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express closer to reality. Allot NEET PG centres close to home for female candidates: MP
Udupi: Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Shrinivasa Poojary urged the Union ministry of health and family welfare to intervene and consider a special provision for female candidates writing the NEET PG exam by allotting them centres closer to their homes, wherever possible. The MP sent a request letter to Union minister for health and family welfare JP Nadda, requesting special consideration for female candidates. "I am writing this to bring to your kind attention the concerns being raised by numerous aspirants of the upcoming NEET PG examination, especially female candidates, due to the current method of city allocation for exam centres. While exam city names have been communicated, exact centres are not informed and hall tickets not distributed, causing uncertainty and anxiety. More importantly, the cities allocated are spread across various states of India—often unfamiliar and far from candidates' places of residence," the MP stated. "This has created serious logistical and safety challenges, particularly for female candidates, who will have to travel alone to distant locations under tight timelines. In light of these challenges, the ministry should intervene and provide multiple city preferences during centre allocation. There should be at least one city option from the candidate's home state, and female candidates should be allotted centres closer to their homes," he urged. "Such steps will greatly reduce the burden on candidates and support a fair and secure exam environment. Hence, the ministry should look into the matter with compassion and urgency," he added.

Udupi: MP Kota Shrinivasa Poojary called on nationalised banks in the district to function more efficiently and adopt a people-friendly approach. He stressed the need for the simplification of procedures, especially for educational loans, and insisted that beneficiaries selected under govt schemes receive their due benefits without delay. Presiding over the District Lead Bank Progress Review Meeting held at Dr VS Acharya Hall on the zilla panchayat premises, on Saturday, the MP said financial aid under central and state govt schemes should be made accessible to the public without hassle. He urged banks to increase enrolment under flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. He also cautioned banks against arbitrarily rejecting applications forwarded by govt departments. Poojary said bank officials and staff must communicate with customers in Kannada. In cases where officials are unable to do so, locals should be deputed to assist. He said more emphasis on PM Mudra and Startup schemes could promote self-employment and contribute to the district's economic growth. Udupi currently ranks second in the state in loan disbursement under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, and he urged officials to work towards achieving the top spot. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Laxmi Ji Idol For Wealth, Peace & Happiness Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo Zilla panchayat CEO Prateek Bayal stressed that financial support under RBI's priority sector norms should be enhanced. BJP releases chargesheet on failures of Cong govt
Mangaluru: The BJP on Wednesday released a chargesheet highlighting what it called the failures of the Congress-led Karnataka govt. Addressing reporters after its release, Udupi-Chikmagaluru MP Kota Shrinivasa Poojary alleged that the state govt failed on all fronts and was running purely on propaganda and false promises. He accused the administration of being entangled in multiple scams, including the Muda scam, Valmiki Corporation scam, and alleged misuse of funds meant for Dalit welfare. Poojary also cited issues such as injustice to farmers, rising milk prices, and the deaths of lactating women. He alleged that land belonging to farmers was being encroached upon in the name of waqf properties. Slamming the Congress for making baseless allegations against the Centre, Poojary lashed out at labour minister Santhosh Lad, stating that the minister is more focused on Prime Minister Modi's attire than labour welfare. He further claimed that rural infrastructure was neglected, with PWD, fisheries, and panchayat roads not receiving maintenance funds for the past two years. Pothole-ridden roads are now a common sight across the state. He also criticised the poor implementation of the Centre's Jal Jeevan Mission in Karnataka. Poojary alleged that key farmer welfare schemes, such as the additional Rs 4,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, were discontinued after the Congress came to power. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Entrevista exclusiva: a verdade sobre o magnésio que ninguém te contou AlwaysFit Undo He also accused the govt of diverting SC/ST welfare funds to finance its guarantee schemes. The Congress govt is directly responsible for the injustice to the SC/ST communities, he said. Poojary lashes out at Kharge The MP took objection to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge's reference to the "Chut-Put War" remark and "Namma Pakistan" during the Sadhana Samavesha. He questioned the chief minister's silence on controversial remarks made by MLA Kothur Manjunath about military actions. "Congress is quick to allege security lapses in the Pahalgam incident. Will they make the same claims about the assassinations of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, or the Mumbai terror attacks?" he asked. Poojary alleged that the govt was trying to silence the opposition by filing FIRs against those who question the govt, with reference to the cases filed against Dr Arun Ullal, Puneet Kerehalli, Chakravarthi Sulibele, MLA Harish Poonja and others. When asked about the rowdy-sheet case booked against Suhas Shetty during Kota's tenure as Dakshina Kannada district minister, he clarified that such files never reach the minister's desk. To a query on Madhya Pradesh minister's comments against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, he said, "The BJP has always stood by the armed forces and nationalism. We will not speak against the military. The party will take appropriate action."
