It is often seen in Bollywood that stars refuse to do big banner films due to or lack of dates. Later, the same film made a lot of money at the box office. This 31-year-old film was rejected by Sridevi, turned out to be a blockbuster, was remade twice in South, film is.., lead actress was... In the world of showbiz, we only see the final product of a blockbuster on the screen. However, many decisions come into play that make a film successful at the box office. From a compelling storyline, impeccable performance, to the perfect time of release, many factors need to be taken into account for the same. But, out of many such factors, one most important elements is the right star cast. One such tale is of a film that initially had a different star cast in the lead; however, it finally fell into the lap of another actress whose fate was tied to it. The film that we are talking about is none other than Krantiveer. It was released in the year 1994 and turned out to be a major hit, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year. However, what's interesting is that the star cast of this film was not how the filmmaker initially imagined. The role of Megha Dixit, played by Dimple Kapadia, was first offered to Sridevi and Kajol. But both the stars didn't resonate with the part and declined the role. But eventually, this Mehul Kumar film turned out to be a massive hit, bagging three Screen Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and even a National Film Award. The film was made on a humble budget of Rs. 2 crores and collected Rs. 14.60 crores at the box office. The film featured Dimple Kapadia in the lead and turned out to be a defining point in her career. The film was also later remade in Telugu as Punya Bhoomi Na Desam (1995) and in Kannada as Parodi (2007), grabbing mass appeal. Even though Sridevi missed out on this blockbuster, her career continued to shine. However, this tale is a reminder of how one actor's rejection can turn into another actor's career-defining moment. Today, Krantiveer still resonates with the audience, and its powerful dialogues and performance are cherished by many.
