Tributes paid to Ayrshire biker who died in weekend crash
Kris Leitch, 34, from Auchinleck, was described as a "special person" after he was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash on Saturday. Tributes have been paid to an Ayrshire biker who died following an accident in the early hours of Saturday morning. Kris Leitch, 34, from Auchinleck, was described as a "special person" in tributes paid online. Emergency services were called to Main Street in Auchinleck following a crash involving a blue and white Sherco 290 motorcycle at around 12.25am on Saturday. Kris, the rider of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Clyde, Kris's dad, is one of the owners of the popular BOSS Kitchen in Auchinleck which had been due to reopen today, Monday, May 26, following a week's holiday. However, the restaurant and cafe will remain closed "until further notice" following the weekend's events. In an update to customers, BOSS Kitchen said: "We will not be re-opening on Monday 26th May as previously advised. "Clyde received the worst news yesterday morning to say his son, Kris Leitch, had died in an accident. Words no parent should ever hear. "Myself and Clyde are utterly devastated trying to come to terms with this news as is all of Kris's family and friends. "The messages we have received and the reaction to this awful news shows Kris was very much loved and liked by so many. "We are a family run cafe and our girl Sarah is Kris's partner and with this, we have decided to keep our doors closed until further notice. "We will update you all when we plan to re-open and we thank you all for your understanding in this heart-breaking situation. "Existing bookings for buffets, afternoon teas and celebration cookies in the near future will still be carried out by the rest of our team, any queries regarding these please message our page." Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Sergeant Brian Simpson said: 'Our thoughts remain with Kris's family and friends as they come to terms with their terrible loss. 'Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw the motorbike prior to the crash, or has any dashcam footage, to please contact police. We are also keen to speak with anyone who attended the scene to assist but did not remain to provide their details to officers. 'If you can assist our enquiries in any way, please call police on 101, quoting incident 0082 of May 24.'

Two bikers killed in crashes in Argyll and Ayrshire
Two motorcyclists have been killed in separate crashes on Scotland's roads. A 48-year-old man died when his Triumph Tiger and a Ford Transit van collided on the A819, near Tullich in Argyll, at about 16:05 on Friday. Later, another biker was killed when his Sherco 290 bike crashed in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, shortly after midnight. Police named him as 34-year-old Kris Leitch. No other vehicles were involved. In Tullich, the road was closed for 10 hours to allow for an accident investigation to take place. The driver of the van was uninjured. In Ayrshire, Main Street in Auchinleck was closed for six hours. Police Scotland has asked anyone with dash-cam footage or information about either incident to get in touch. Contact Police Scotland

First picture of biker killed in horror crash in Ayrshire

Officers were called to a collision involving a Triumph Tiger motorcycle and a Ford Transit Luton van on the A819 near Tullich, on Friday May 23 at 4.05pm. A 48-year-old man, the rider of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin is aware. The driver of the van was uninjured. The road was closed for around 10 hours for investigations to take place. Police are now appealing for information and dash cam footage from witnesses. Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died. 'Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch. 'Similarly, anyone with dash-cam footage that may assist our enquiries is advised to get in touch.'
