Day of the Week : Friday ____________________________________________________________________________ Today's Fast/Festival The first Ekadashi of the Jyeshtha month, i.e., Apara Ekadashi, will be observed on 23rd May 2025. Observing the fast of Apara Ekadashi absolves one of sins as grave as Brahma-hatya (killing a Brahmin) and brings happiness and prosperity in life. This Ekadashi, falling on 23rd May 2025, is the first Ekadashi of the Jyeshtha month. Legend of Apara Ekadashi In ancient times, there was a righteous king named Mahidhwaj. His younger brother Vajradhwaj harbored jealousy in his heart. Out of greed, he murdered his own brother. As a result of this sin, Vajradhwaj was reborn as a restless spirit after death and wandered for many years. One day, Sage Dhaumya arrived at that place and, using his spiritual powers, understood the entire situation. He observed the Apara Ekadashi fast, pleased Lord Vishnu, and dedicated the merit of the fast to Vajradhwaj. Due to the power of the earned merit, Vajradhwaj was liberated, attained a divine body, and ascended to the heavenly realm. Ritual Method of Worship on Apara Ekadashi Clean the place of worship and sprinkle it with Ganga water. Spread a clean cloth and place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Apply sandalwood paste to the deity, offer flowers, light a ghee lamp, and perform Aarti. Chant Vishnu mantras and recite the Vishnu Chalisa. Thereafter, listen to or read the story of Apara Ekadashi with devotion. Offer fruits, sweets, and Tulsi leaves as Bhog (sacred offering). After the Puja, donate food, clothes, or money to the needy. —---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This daily Panchang has been brought to you by For Feedback, please write to hello@ .
