Today's Fast/Festival
The first Ekadashi of the Jyeshtha month, i.e., Apara Ekadashi, will be observed on 23rd May 2025. Observing the fast of Apara Ekadashi absolves one of sins as grave as Brahma-hatya (killing a Brahmin) and brings happiness and prosperity in life. This Ekadashi, falling on 23rd May 2025, is the first Ekadashi of the Jyeshtha month.
Legend of Apara Ekadashi
In ancient times, there was a righteous king named Mahidhwaj. His younger brother Vajradhwaj harbored jealousy in his heart. Out of greed, he murdered his own brother. As a result of this sin, Vajradhwaj was reborn as a restless spirit after death and wandered for many years. One day, Sage Dhaumya arrived at that place and, using his spiritual powers, understood the entire situation. He observed the Apara Ekadashi fast, pleased Lord Vishnu, and dedicated the merit of the fast to Vajradhwaj. Due to the power of the earned merit, Vajradhwaj was liberated, attained a divine body, and ascended to the heavenly realm.
Ritual Method of Worship on Apara Ekadashi
Clean the place of worship and sprinkle it with Ganga water.
Spread a clean cloth and place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
Apply sandalwood paste to the deity, offer flowers, light a ghee lamp, and perform Aarti.
Chant Vishnu mantras and recite the Vishnu Chalisa.
Thereafter, listen to or read the story of Apara Ekadashi with devotion.
Offer fruits, sweets, and Tulsi leaves as Bhog (sacred offering).
After the Puja, donate food, clothes, or money to the needy.

19 years later, both Purnima and Lunar Eclipse are falling on the same day, 7th September.
I observe a total lunar eclipse. The red moon hangs high, illuminating the dark landscape below with a faint, ethereal glow. On 7th September there is Bhadrapad Purnima and on the same day a complete Lunar Eclipse will also take place. In astrology, this coincidence occurs once in 19 years. The special thing is that this time the lunar eclipse will also be visible in many countries including India, Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa, and America. The first lunar eclipse of the year took place on 14th March. According to Celebrity Astrologer Parduman Suri, auspicious works are prohibited from sunrise till the end of the eclipse. Because during this time, due to the moon being in its highest state, it becomes extremely influential. Therefore, special precautions should be taken on the day of the lunar eclipse during Sutak period. This time the eclipse will last for 3 hours 28 minutes. In this, Earth will come between the Sun and the Moon and completely cover the Moon with its shadow. Due to this, the Moon sometimes appears red in color or takes on a completely dark form. Before this, Shraddha Amavasya fast will be observed on 7th September. This fast is very important for the worship and remembrance of Lord Shri Vishnu. On the day of Amavasya, bathing, charity, and fasting have special significance. But since the lunar eclipse begins 9 hours before, that is, from the afternoon of 7th September, all auspicious works will be prohibited. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? On 8th September at 01:26 AM the lunar eclipse will end. At this time, Sutak period will also end. Keep these things in mind - During Sutak period, auspicious works, worship, recitation, and eating etc. are prohibited. - Women, especially pregnant women, should read religious texts. - Worship and recitation should not be done during eclipse, but chanting can be done. - Do not cook food during eclipse period and avoid consuming food prepared earlier. - In temples, the doors of the deity are closed during eclipse as the celebration is prohibited. - Even during the whole day, auspicious works like marriage and naming ceremony should not be done. - For the peace of ancestors, donate charity on the day of eclipse. What not to do during eclipse - If possible, stay inside the house and do not watch the eclipse. - Do not use sharp objects like knife, scissors, or needle. - Protect the body from any injury or scratches. - Drink water only after putting Kusha grass in it. Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif have one thing in common in their workout routine, their trainer reveals
When it comes to fitness inspiration in Bollywood, names like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif often top the list. But what does it really take to maintain such incredible levels of fitness amidst demanding shooting schedules and global travel? Celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala shared a small sneak peek into what sets these actresses apart and what they have in common. It's not just Pilates or strict diets. It's something more relatable: discipline and consistency. Independence Day 2025 Modi signals new push for tech independence with local chips Before Trump, British used tariffs to kill Indian textile Bank of Azad Hind: When Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose gave India its own currency Yasmin Karachiwala reveals Alia, Deepika, Katrina's workout secret In a candid chat with Bhavishya Sindwani on a podcast shared on YouTube in May 2025, Yasmin revealed that while each celebrity has a workout routine tailored to their individual goals and needs, the one thing they all have in common is their unwavering commitment. 'They are very disciplined,' she said. 'They know how important working out is for their mental and physical health, and they make it a priority, every single day.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Alia Bhatt 💛 (@aliaabhatt) by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Undo Yasmin is known for introducing Pilates to the Indian fitness scene, has trained some of Bollywood's biggest names, including Jacqueline Fernandez and others. She noted that no matter how hectic a celebrity's life gets, fitness remains a non-negotiable part of their day. Whether it's a late-night party or a busy shoot schedule, these women find time to train. 'Going to a party or lunch with friends doesn't eat into their workout time,' Yasmin said. But, Bollywood actresses swear by it and never cheats the routine. Speaking specifically about their training preferences, Yasmin shared that Deepika, Alia, and Katrina all follow a combination of Pilates and functional training . Pilates, she explained, is a form of exercise that strengthens the body from the inside out. 'It's the perfect combination of strength and stretch. You feel strong from the core, and it doesn't leave you feeling exhausted,' she said. According to her, Pilates is not only effective physically but also enjoyable, something people actually look forward to. Functional training, on the other hand, focuses on everyday movement. Exercises like squats, lunges, planks, and push-ups improve joint strength, balance, coordination, and help prevent injury. It complements Pilates well, creating a well-rounded fitness routine that supports both performance and appearance. Yasmin also mentioned that Deepika, in particular, turned to Pilates after giving birth, using it to gently and effectively rebuild strength. She stressed that none of her clients chase unrealistic goals or try to copy another person's body. Instead, they stay connected to their own fitness journey, listening to what their bodies need and responding with care and dedication. More about Yasmin Karachiwala For the unversed, Yasmin Karachiwala's fitness empire now includes 11 studios across cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Dubai. Her latest venture, YKBI Juhu, was launched in collaboration with her son Zahaan and his business partner Zainab Bashey. Through her work, Yasmin continues to shape not just celebrity physiques but also the conversation around fitness in India. All she wants to say is that you may not have the same life as a Bollywood star, but with discipline and consistency, you can be just as fit.
