See the photo proves that while Sam Kerr's baby boy was born in England, he'll be raised 100 per cent Aussie

Sam Kerr 's son Jagger may have been born in England - but he will definitely be raised as an Aussie. The Matildas captain, 31, has posted an image to Instagram story from outside Australia House in London, the country's high commission for the UK, where matters like citizenship and passports are dealt with. The photo - featuring Jagger and Kerr's partner Kristie Mewis - was captioned 'Oi Oi Oi', which is a well known patriotic chant every Aussie knows. Jagger is likely to become a dual citizen - and given his mothers were born in Australia and the US respectively, it is safe to assume he will be a regular traveller abroad. It comes as Kerr continues her worrying long recovery from an ACL rupture in her knee sustained at a training camp with Chelsea in January of 2024 and made a surprise trip down under. Meanwhile, Family First national director Lyle Shelton was slammed after recently publicly questioning Kerr's same-sex relationship, blaming the couple for 'depriving' their son of a father. His vile post followed the soccer power couple - Mewis plays for the USWNT - proudly posting images of Jagger on social media. 'A baby is born - but where's dad?' Shelton wrote alongside a photo of the couple and their baby. 'Family First congratulates Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis on the birth of their son - but we must speak a truth too many are afraid to say. 'No child should be deliberately deprived of their father. Children aren't lifestyle accessories - they're human beings with rights.' Shelton went on to ask: 'When cultural elites cheer on choices that sideline dads, who's left standing for the child?' 'Love is not enough. Every child deserves - and needs - a mum and a dad, wherever possible. It's time to put children's rights before adult desires.' Shelton was one of the leaders of the 'No' campaign against same-sex marriage in Australia. His post received support from United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet, who commented, 'children need both a mother and a father.'

Coach dismisses claim about Sam Kerr's future after appearance raises eyebrows

Chelsea have moved to assure Sam Kerr is firmly in their plans moving forward after the Matildas star's injury recovery has extended past 16 months having failed to return to action in 2025. Kerr was seen at the A-League Women's grand final at AAMI Park in Melbourne on the weekend in support of her national teammates. This was a shock considering her Chelsea teammates were in a Women's FA Cup final against Manchester United in London on the same day. Chelsea won 3-0 against their rivals to finish off a remarkable season that saw them lift the WSL title, FA Cup and League Cup to finish the year unbeaten on the domestic front. Although Kerr's absence raised eyebrows. The Matildas captain suffered an ACL rupture in January of 2024, and is yet to make her comeback 16 months later. Unfortunately Kerr was not able to make a return for Chelsea, despite reports suggesting she was nearing a comeback. She most recently had a baby with fiancee Kristie Mewis. And her absence on the weekend to celebrate with her teammates in London raised concerns the Matildas captain may not be in the plans of the undefeated English champions moving forward. However, these were quickly dismissed on the weekend. Chelsea coach Sonia Bampastor suggested she was very keen to work with Kerr when she is ready to return, which she likened to a new signing for Chelsea's already undefeated side. "I was really sad not to have the opportunity to have Sam with us in the squad this season," said the Frenchwoman, who took over as coach just under a year ago. "I think she is a great player and we, the player and the club, need to find a way to have her back. She will feel like a new signing for me. When we talk about going to these games at the end of the season and to fight for trophies, when you have Sam available or not available it can make a big difference as Sam is a scorer." Kerr's presence at the women's final was a huge boost for the event with the star sitting alongside Matildas chief physiotherapist Matt Whalan who is an ACL specialist. Interim Matildas coach Tom Sermanni recently addressed Kerr's progress after ruling her out of the upcoming friendlies against Argentina this month. Sermanni said there was a specialist working with Kerr in London who was relaying information to the Matildas. And it appears Kerr could be doing more of her rehab with Chelsea in the pre-season, rather than back home in Australia. "She's tracking pretty well, but she's not just quite ready yet to come in and play," Sermanni said. "From our situation, it's a camp by camp sort of scenario. Obviously, for Chelsea, now they're at the end of their season, so now they'll be looking at her coming back and ready for the pre-season to start next season." Sermanni admitted Kerr would most likely sit out for the next few months as she prepares for a new season with Chelsea. "So it could be that Chelsea say, well, if - and I'm saying if - that Sam feels that she's ready, and they feel that she's ready to come back for our next window, whether they think, 'well, it'd be good for you to come and get some game time. That might happen. "If, on the other hand, they say, look, we just want her now to take this time get her preparation really well done, so that come the start of pre-season, she's ready to go. That's, I would say, probably a more likely scenario. But again that's something that I can't answer specifically."

Sam Kerr makes surprise move just a week after the birth of her baby boy - as Chelsea take on Man United in the Women's FA Cup Final

Sam Kerr has jetted back to Australia 10 days after she and her partner, Kristie Mewis, announced the birth of their newborn son. The footy star was pictured at the AAMI park for Sunday's A-League Women's Grand Final, as Central Coast Mariners claimed a thrilling win against Melbourne Victory on penalties. The 31-year-old has been out of action since January 2024 due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Matildas captain has been back training on grass in recent months as however it is not known yet when she will return to training with Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor reluctant to give a time-frame on her comeback. Kerr's impromptu trip back Down Under also comes as Chelsea are due to take on Manchester United in the Women's FA Cup Final on Sunday afternoon at Wembley. Kerr, meanwhile, had appeared in Chelsea's 2025-26 kit launch this week. It comes a week after Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis welcomed their first baby into the world It comes after interim boss Tom Sermanni, last week, gave an insight into Kerr's injury comeback, stating the Matildas' captain will be assessed on a 'camp-by-camp' basis. 'Sam's tracking pretty well, but she's not just quite ready yet to come in and play,' Sermanni said. 'From our situation, it's a camp by camp sort of scenario. 'Obviously, for Chelsea, now they are at the end of their season, so now they'll be looking at her coming back and ready for the pre-season.' Kerr had last travelled back to Australia at the beginning of April to spend time around the Matildas' camp as Sermanni's side took on South Korea in two international friendlies. The team will reconvene later this month for their upcoming international friendlies against Argentina, which will take place on May 30 and June 2. It is looking more likely that Kerr could return to action via her national side. But after spending the entire Women's Super League season on the sidelines, Kerr is likely to work through pre-season with Chelsea before returning to action with the Matildas. The pair have been enjoying the sunshine in London in recent weeks, with the football stars taking their newborn son for walks around the city 'That's one of the scenarios, and probably not a bad one. I think that will depend on Sam and Chelsea,' Sermanni said. 'So it could be that Chelsea say, well, if - and I'm saying if - that Sam feels that she's ready, and they feel that she's ready to come back for our next window, whether they think, 'well, it would be good for you to come and get some game time. That might happen. 'If, on the other hand, they say, look, we just want her now to take this time get her preparation really well done, so that come the start of pre-season, she's ready to go. 'That, I would say, is probably a more likely scenario. 'But again that's something that I can't answer specifically.' Australia will take on Slovenia at the end of June before going on to play Panama at the beginning of July. During that time, Lyon manager Joe Montemurro, is expected to take over from interim boss Sermanni. Mewis, meanwhile, has been seen back at home in London taking the couple's newborn son, Jagger, out for a walk in the sunshine. The West Ham star stepped out earlier this week with a friend. Kerr, meanwhile, is understood to have headed to Chelsea's training ground in Cobham. Kerr and Mewis have shared several insights into their lives as new parents over the past week, and have been beaming from ear-to-ear. They announced the news of their new baby boy's arrival on Instagram last week, with the pair writing, 'Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr.' Mewis, 34, and Kerr 31, got engaged back in 2023. The pair are planning on getting married later this December. Kerr and Mewis are understood to have met after the Aussie star moved to London in 2019 to play for Chelsea. During her high-profile court case, Kerr said Mewis had 'slid into her DMs' and the pair subsequently began dating. Central Coast Mariners won Australia's A-League Women's Grand Final with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Melbourne Victory on Sunday, following a 1-1 draw after extra time, to claim the title for the first time. The game went to a shoot-out after the teams shared a 1-1 draw in regulation time, with neither side able to score in 30 minutes of extra-time Captain Bianca Galic smashed home the final penalty to give Central Coast the win, having earlier seen Victory's Alana Jancevski hit the crossbar with the opening spot kick. The game went to a shoot-out after the teams shared a 1-1 draw in regulation time, with neither side able to score in 30 minutes of extra-time. Isabel Gomez had given Central Coast the lead less than a minute into the second half when she prodded the ball past Courtney Newbon as the Victory defence failed to clear Annalise Rasmussen's deflected shot as it looped into the air. Victory saw two efforts disallowed before Claudia Bunge levelled with 10 minutes remaining, the central defender meeting Alana Murphy's corner with a powerful header that Annabel Martin could not prevent from crossing the line. The game moved into penalties and Jancevski hit the woodwork with the opening kick of the shoot-out to leave Galic to score the winner in the fifth and final round.

Image of Sam Kerr and her fiancee with their newborn baby sparks vile comment from politician

Conservative politicians have lobbed vile criticism at Sam Kerr after she shared a photo with her fiancee and newborn baby. The Matildas star and her fiancee Kristie Mewis welcomed their first child, Jagger, last week. The soccer power couple were flooded with supportive messages when they shared a series of photos of the newborn online. But Family First national director Lyle Shelton took it as an opportunity to question their relationship. His post received support from firebrand United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet, who commented, 'children need both a mother and a father'. Kerr and Mewis have become a high-profile couple in the sporting world with Kerr hailing from Australia, Mewis from the United States and both playing in the UK. They got engaged in September 2023 and are expected to marry in December. Kerr is currently recovering from an ACL rupture suffered during a Chelsea training camp in early 2024. She returned to individual training in January, but a timeframe on a return to football is still not clear.

Sam Kerr's fiancee Kristie Mewis steps out with their newborn baby after revealing social media post - and Matildas fans will be thrilled to learn why

Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have been giving fans on social media glimpses into their new lives as parents. The football stars welcomed their son Jagger into the world one week ago and have been seen beaming with elation after taking their newborn out for walks while enjoying life at home as a family. Kerr, who plays for the Matildas and Mewis, who plays for the US National team, stepped out with Jagger earlier this week for a walk in the park. The footballers published a heartwarming snap of each other walking hand-in-hand down the street as they pushed Jagger along in a stroller. They also published a snap of Kristie's parents, Melissa and Robert, meeting their grandchild over dinner. In recent days, speculation has begun to emerge that Kerr has returned to Chelsea training. The pair have been glowing with joy in recent days having shared glimpses of their lives as new parents on social media This Masthead understands that Kerr had been picked up by a private car that had been rented by her club, Chelsea, and had been taken to the training ground one morning earlier this week. It comes as Chelsea face Manchester United in the Women's FA Cup final on Sunday at Wembley. Kerr has been out of action for over a year after she suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament back in January 2024. The footballer later underwent surgery on the injury but has not played for the Matildas or Chelsea since. Kerr has been seen training on grass with her team-mates in recent months and returned to Australia in April, to spend time around Tom Sermanni's side during their recent friendlies against South Korea. It is not yet clear when Kerr could be fit to return to action. Sonia Bompastor recently said she had hoped that Kerr could make a comeback before the end of the season but was unable to give a firm answer on the matter. 'She's working really hard,' Bompastor said in a press conference at the end of April. Mewis also took to Instagram to share with her fans that she has been taking things slowly in the past few days 'All the performance staff are doing everything for her to play this season. 'We'll see how it goes. We know we only have a few games left now. 'Hopefully, yes, but it's difficult for me to have a clear answer.' West Ham star Mewis, meanwhile, was later seen stepping out of their London home with Jagger and a friend. Mewis donned a pair of sunglasses and a black hat, as she pushed Jagger along in a black pram. The new mum, who cut a low profile, stopped for a moment to play with her baby boy as they enjoyed a walk in the London sun. Mewis also took to her Instagram this week to give fans another glimpse into their life at home. She took a selfie of herself nursing her baby boy, Jagger, while wearing a pair of boob pads. She captioned the Instagram story: 'Slow mornings and boob pads!!' Many of their friends, team-mates and family members have been taking to social media to congratulate the happy couple on the exciting news. Matildas stars MacKenzie Arnold, Caitlin Foord and Emily Van Egmond were among those writing congratulations messages. Kerr had also issued her support to her fiancee Mewis this week, writing in the comments of Mewis' recent Instagram post: 'You are the best,' adding a 'heart' emoji. Kerr revealed to fans during her high-profile court case this year that she and Mewis were planning to get married later this December. She also shed a light on how the couple first met. The pair had met around 2019, after the Australian had moved to London to play for Chelsea just before the Covid-19 pandemic. The 31-year-old striker explained to the court that the American had 'slid into her DMs' and the pair subsequently began dating. She also revealed during the trial that the pair were expecting a baby boy. It is unclear when Kerr could return to action, having spent over a year on the sidelines due to the injury They are understood to have first met in 2019, just after Kerr moved to London, with Kerr revealing earlier this year that Mewis had 'slid into her DMs' She and Mewis also made headlines in 2021, after the West Ham midfielder was seen consoling Kerr on the football field during the Olympics. The US National side had beaten Australia 4-3 in the third-place play-off in Tokyo and Kerr cut an emotional figure following the loss. She and Mewis gathered in the centre circle with the American subsequently embracing a teary-eyed Kerr in heartwarming scenes. Mewis, 34, and Kerr, 31, would get engaged in 2023. The US soccer star revealed the heartwarming news to People Magazine, stating: '[She's] my biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain at all of my crazy antics.' Mewis' last game for West Ham came in September 2024. The Massachusetts-born footballer, who wears No 15 for the Hammers, began her senior professional footballing journey, playing for Canberra FC. She'd later move back home to the US and enjoyed spells with several teams, notably the Boston Breakers and the Houston Dash. She'd also spend a season out on loan with the Breakers at Bayern Munich and Japanese side Iga FC Kunoichi. She'd also turn out for the NJ/NY Gotham FC during the 2022-23 season before moving to West Ham.
