OU inaugurates state-of-the-art classroom complex funded by SCCL

Hyderabad: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad, inaugurated its new state-of-the-art classroom complex on Sunday. The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), Bhadradri Kothagudem district, under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, gave funds of Rs two crore for the construction of this modern facility. This newly constructed classroom will accommodate around 90 students and also promises an enriched learning experience for students. Professor Kumar Molugaram, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, extended his best wishes to the students, who will soon benefit from the advanced facilities in the new complex, and highlighted the significance of this milestone in enhancing the academic environment at Osmania University.

Hyderabad: The Department of Microbiology, University College of Science, Osmania University, launched the brochure and poster for the upcoming International Conference on Emerging Microbial Technologies for One Health, scheduled from October 15 to 17. This prestigious event is being organised to mark the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of the Department of Microbiology. On Monday, Professor Kumar Molugaram, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, formally released the conference brochure and poster in the presence of faculty members and distinguished guests. During his speech, Professor Molugaram emphasised the importance of organising the conference in a grand and impactful manner by inviting renowned speakers from at least 20 countries. He also suggested that the department collaborate with a reputable international journal to publish the research papers presented at the conference, which would enhance the global visibility of the academic contributions. The event was attended by Professor G Naresh Reddy, Registrar; Professor Gunda Prabhakar, Principal of the University College of Science; and esteemed faculty members, including Professor Sandeepta and Dr Hameeda Bee. Professor B Bhima, the conference convenor and head of the department, informed participants that the conference is expected to serve as a global platform for scientists, researchers, and professionals working in the fields of microbiology and one health, promoting collaborative research and innovation. OU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kumar Molugaram, who presided over the inaugural session, paid tributes to the visionaries who founded the institution in 1918. 'Osmania University stands as a living monument to the transformative power of education and public vision,' he said. Advisor (Public Affairs) to the Telangana government, K Keshava Rao, who was the chief guest, lauded the university's commitment to inclusivity and excellence. 'The role of Osmania University in shaping modern Telangana and nurturing leaders across sectors is unparalleled,' he said. Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police CV Anand, recalling his days as an MA Economics student at OU, spoke about academia's role in fostering civic responsibility and safety awareness among youth. He exhorted Osmanians to revive the university's past glory. In a solemn gesture of solidarity and remembrance for the Pahalgam victims, the participants observed a two-minute silence. The event brought together esteemed diplomats, scholars, and policymakers to discuss the shifting geopolitical dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region and the increasing importance of trilateral cooperation among India, Japan, and the United States. Professor Kumar Molugaram, the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, inaugurated the symposium as the Chief Guest, emphasised the strategic importance of partnerships in the Indo-Pacific and highlighted India's crucial role in ensuring a free, open, and inclusive regional order. Professor C Kaseem, Principal of the University College of Arts and Social Sciences, attended as the Guest of Honor, underscoring the significance of academic platforms in shaping informed perspectives on regional cooperation. The keynote address was delivered by Sayo Saruta, Director of the New Diplomatic Initiative in Japan. She discussed the importance of democratic resilience, multilateral collaboration, and the shared responsibilities of regional actors in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Additionally, she outlined new areas for India-Japan cooperation, particularly in addressing global disruptions and reinforcing the rules-based international order. A distinguished panel of experts provided nuanced insights throughout the symposium. R Radhakrishnan, OSD to the Chairman of the Telangana State Council for Higher Education, presented a comprehensive analysis of India's evolving foreign policy within the Indo-Pacific context. Dr. Sanjay Pulipaka, Chairman of the Politeia Research Foundation, highlighted the importance of balancing national values with strategic pragmatism in Indian diplomacy. Dr Kanika Rakhra, Assistant Professor at Kautilya School of Public Policy, reflected on the interplay between dualism and institutional frameworks in regional engagement. Professor J L N Rao, Director of the Institute of Indo-Pacific at Osmania University, traced the historical and civilisational roots of India's foreign policy orientation and its contemporary implications. The symposium was skillfully coordinated by Professor V Srilatha (Convenor), Professor M Krishnakumar (Session Chair), and Dr Chalamalla Venkateshwarlu (Co-Convener). Their efforts created a vibrant exchange of ideas and policy dialogue on one of the most strategically critical areas in contemporary international relations. The event saw active participation from research scholars and students, who engaged enthusiastically in discussions, reflecting the growing academic interest in Indo-Pacific studies and global strategic affairs.
