Arnold Schwarzenegger Blames L.A. ICE Raids on Republicans and Democrats' Lack of Immigration Reform: ‘They're All Political Hacks Rather Than Public Servants'
Arnold Schwarzenegger, former governor of California, commented on the Los Angeles immigration protests and ICE raids while on the red carpet for the Season 2 premiere of his Netflix series, 'Fubar.' On the topic of President Trump's decision to send in the National Guard and the Marines to the site of the protests, Schwarzenegger told Variety, 'Well, I'm not so much interested in that as I am that the politicians have the responsibility to create immigration reform so we don't have to have this crap going on in the first place.' And so that's what needs to be done so that you don't have to go and start arresting people in the first place, so we know who is in this country and who is working here, who has the temporary working permit, who has the permanent working permit,' Schwarzenegger, who served as governor from 2003 to 2011, added. In response to protests over the escalating ICE raids in L.A., Trump deployed 2,000 California National Guard troops, which first arrived in the city Sunday. Since then, the president has sent an additional 2,000 troops as well as 700 Marines. The protests have so far been held around mostly around downtown L.A., where Mayor Karen Bass has imposed a nightly curfew. 'We don't even know who is in here,' Schwarzenegger said, referring to collecting data on undocumented workers. 'For decades now, they have been avoiding the subject because it's an advantage to both parties to not do it. So they're all political hacks, party hacks, rather than public servants.' Gabriel Luna, who acted opposite Schwarzenegger in 'Fubar' Season 1 and currently appears in 'The Last of Us,' also commented on the ICE raids at the premiere. 'Abolish it. Abolish ICE altogether. It's a terrible waste of resources,' Luna, who is of Mexican descent, told Variety. 'Those resources could be funneled to some more effective ways of handling this immigration issue that they are saying we have. The 15 guys waiting to get a job at 5 a.m. at the Home Depot parking lot are not the ones we need to be worrying about, but that's who's getting scooped up,' he added. The current wave of protests was initially sparked by growing threats of ICE raids late last week. A Home Depot in Paramount became the site of early protests when residents began seeing immigration authorities near the store last Saturday. 'I think everyone with a heart knows and stands on the right side of history…We're becoming increasingly more house cats. We need to be outside. We need to be in the street, and we need to show where we stand. Los Angeles is one of the biggest cities in the world, and the rest of the world goes the way that L.A., New York, Chicago, these places are going,' Luna continued. 'Today and yesterday, incredible, incredible marches in Chicago, incredible marches in New York. It just started, it really just started.' KUNG FURY Director Teases 'Fantasy Punk' Madness with New Movie DRAGONLORD, a Mix of HE-MAN, STAR WARS, and LORD OF THE RINGS — GeekTyrant
David Sandberg, the mad genius behind the wild action film Kung Fury , is back with something wild, weird, and completely his own. While fans are still waiting for the long-delayed Kung Fury 2 starring Michael Fassbender and Arnold Schwarzenegger (which remains stuck in legal limbo), the Swedish filmmaker is prepping his next project. His next project is a 'fantasy punk' film titled Dragonlord , and it sounds like a genre blender cranked to eleven. Sandberg told Variety, 'It's a really fun, really rich world with a lot of funny characters. It's tonally similar to Kung Fury.' He went on to describe the film as 'a crazy mishmash of stuff,' adding, 'There's no movie that I can think of that's exactly like it. But yeah, it's like He-Man mixed with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and Mad Max and also Ninja Turtles … but it's definitely gonna feel super different, I think, from anything.' Well, that sounds insane! If that laundry list of inspirations doesn't raise an eyebrow, just wait until you hear what the movie's actually about. In Dragonlord , Sandberg will star as the title character, "a treasure-obsessed hunter whose best friend is a Tyrannosaurus Rex called Blaze Falcon. Rather than hunt for yet more treasure, however, Blaze just wants to hang out and play video games, but when he's kidnapped by the evil Dreadmancer, Dragonlord must pull together an Avengers-like team of bonkers heroes to save his dino buddy." This new project is clearly another trip into Sandberg's nostalgic, synth-drenched brain, a place where '80s action tropes crash into Saturday morning cartoons, all tied together with lo-fi VFX and tongue-in-cheek storytelling. It completely makes sense from the guy who brought us Kung Fury, which launched his career and took the internet by storm with its over-the-top blend of time travel, kung fu, and Nazis. Kung Fury 2 , the feature-length sequel starring Fassbender and Schwarzenegger, has been completed since 2019 but has yet to be released due to legal complications with investors. It's unclear when, or if, the film will see the light of day, but Sandberg seems ready to shift focus and energy into this new chaotic fantasyverse. Dragonlord doesn't have a release date yet, but when it is released, we can expect something colorful, unhinged, and unlike anything else in theaters. Or streaming services. Or your dreams.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Riding a Dinosaur Is Somehow Normal in Wild Leaked Footage From Kung Fury 2
Imagine a movie that features Arnold Schwarzenegger on a dinosaur, giant mech battles, time travel, David Hasselhoff as a talking Lamborghini, Michael Fassbender with a mullet, and an all-out war against Adolf Hitler. Now imagine that movie never coming out. Both are difficult concepts to fathom, but each applies to Kung Fury: The Movie. Written, directed, and starring David Sandberg, Kung Fury: The Movie (also referred to as Kung Fury 2) is a feature-length follow-up to a 2015 short film that you can watch on YouTube (or below). It's a wild, tongue-in-cheek send-up of 1980s sci-fi action films that co-stars Jorma Taccone and David Hasselhoff. Based on that film's success, a feature-length version was made that brought back Taccone and Hasselhoff, and added Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Fassbender, and Alexandra Shipp. However, a legal battle over the film's visual effects has delayed it five years and counting. Late last week, though, a 10-minute promo for the film leaked online and Variety confirmed with Sandberg that it was in fact genuine. 'This was an internal promo video that was never supposed to be seen by the public,' Sandberg said in a statement. 'I feel bad because it contains a bunch of plot points and temp VFX. I hope at least people can see the passion that we poured into the movie, the world deserves to see it as it was meant to be seen. This movie has been held hostage for the past five years but I promise to keep fighting for it and make sure this film gets the chance it truly deserves.' The clip not only features all manner of batshit insanity, such as Schwarzenegger on the dinosaur, Fassbender shooting bullets to press keys on a typewriter, and so much more, but some presumably huge narrative spoilers such as character deaths and plot twists. So you understand why Sandberg would seemingly feel mixed about the leak. But maybe this is Deadpool all over again. You literally can't watch the 10-minute clip and not instantly want to see the movie. It's simply not possible. So, maybe, by bringing further awareness to the project, something can be worked out to get Kung Fury: The Movie into the world. For now, here's the original short film.

KUNG FURY: THE MOVIE Leaked Sizzle Reel is a Bonkers 80s Fever Dream with Arnold Schwarzenegger & Michael Fassbender — GeekTyrant
After years of radio silence, the first-ever footage from Kung Fury: The Movie has finally surfaced online in the form of a wild, absolutely bonkers 10-minute sizzle reel that feels like it was conjured in the fever dream of an '80s-obsessed time traveler with access to every VFX plugin known to man. After the over-the-top sizzle reel initially leaked on YouTube it was taken down along with ever other time it was uploaded. But, I did find this one on X, that is still alive and ready to watch! Directed by David Sandberg, this unreleased feature-length sequel to the viral 2015 short Kung Fury was meant to take everything people loved about the original like laser dinosaurs, synthwave-soaked action, kung fu cops, time travel, and crank it up to eleven. But, for the past five years, the movie's been stuck in cinematic limbo after a legal fallout with the film's Chinese investors. In 2020, Creasun Entertainment USA was accused of pulling the plug on a promised $10 million investment, freezing the production in its tracks. But now, the legend of Kung Fury 2 lives again thanks to this insane footage, which plays like someone dared the creative team to out-crazy Turbo Kid and Deadpool in the same breath. 'This was an internal promo video that was never supposed to be seen by the public. I feel bad because it contains a bunch of plot points and temp VFX,' Sandberg told Variety in a statement. 'I hope at least people can see the passion that we poured into the movie, the world deserves to see it as it was meant to be seen. This movie has been held hostage for the past 5 years but I promise to keep fighting for it and make sure this film gets the chance it truly deserves.' The reel features Michael Fassbender as Colt Magnum, an FBI renegade with a monster mullet and explains how to make a 'justice omelette,' Arnold Schwarzenegger shows up as the cigar-chomping, shotgun-toting U.S. president President of the United States, strapped, loaded, and announcing his mission to "kick some Nazi ass." Oh, and David Hasselhoff is there too, morphing into a sentient '80s supercar known as the Hoff 9000. The story involves a eclectic team of human, dinosaur and half-human-half-dinosaur crime-fighters called the Thundercops, led by the deadpan action hero Kung Fury (Sandberg), on a mission to clean up the streets of Miami in 1985. This mission is somehow derailed by 'the worst criminal of all time,' Adolf Hitler. Check out the footage, and let us know if you're ready to ride a laser raptor into battle alongside Fassbender and Schwarzenegger. The world needs Kung Fury: The Movie now more than ever.
