A motorcycle caravan rode through Erie Monday afternoon with some big names and a big mission. Kyle Petty's 29th annual Charity Ride Across America stopped at the TA Travel Center in Harborcreek Township just off Interstate 90. PennDOT, police continue efforts on pedestrian safety The stop provided a chance for area residents to meet former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his father, the King of NASCAR, Richard Petty. The ride raises money for Victory Junction, a camp for children with serious illnesses. That camp was the dream of Adam Petty, Kyle's son and also a NASCAR driver, tragically killed in a race. Southern portion of Route 6 bridge removed, work continues 'There's 136,000 kids that have come through the gates of camp at some point totally free of charge. That's what this ride is about and when I see that little smile on their face, I know that's the Adam Petty Smile. I know he's still with us and that's very healing for me,' Kyle Petty told us. The riders also included Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL great Hershel Walker. The caravan left Erie heading for Niagara Falls. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
