One Week Of Kyunki Season 2: Mihir-Tulsi Set Couple Goals, Fans Want No More Affairs

When Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi first premiered 25 years ago, Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay's on-screen couple of Tulsi Virani and Mihir Virani was pegged as the perfect pair, right next to Ram-Sita from Ramayan. Just like Ram and Sita, life wasn't a bed of roses for TV's OG couple back in the 2000s. A Bit Of OG Kyunki History Pretty much the entire Virani clan was against Tulsi and Mihir's match, except dearest and late Baa, even before the then young couple tied the knot. Mihir's mother Savita was not ready to accept a low-class, simpleton like Tulsi. She wanted Payal, a khandaani ameer for her prince-like son. But their love eventually conquered all. But then Mihir met with a fatal accident and Tulsi, who was pregnant with their first child, had to resort to getting remarried to Anupam Kapadia. Lo and behold, Mihir came back from the dead, on the show, but now had no memory of Tulsi. He and Mandira, Anupam's sister, were sort of a couple then. There were logistical hiccups too as the real Mihir, that is Amar Upadhyay, left the show for films and two more actors Inder Kumar and Ronit Roy played the fan-favourite character after time jumps. Later, our adarsh balak Mihir went on to father an illegitimate son Karan with Mandira. And things were no longer the same. Not only Mihir, Tulsi also changed faces briefly, with Gautami Kapoor taking on the mantle until she was (quite dramatically) dethroned by the original Tulsi. Kyunki 2 With OG Tulsi And Mihir In its second coming, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is trying to give Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay's OG Tulsi-Mihir, now in their mid age, another shot at love. Fans, both old and new, are loving every bit of it. A section of X users is calling them the new power couple. couple...💃😍 Flashbacks are just 💥🥺🔥♥️ Loving this new version 🥰 #kyunkisaasbhikabhibahuthi2 — Maggie_Shaggie❤️😋 (@Happysoul124_) July 29, 2025 The way Mihir looked at Tulsi after all these years still melted hearts. Feels like nostalgia baiting for now. — Pun Parag (@Enola_guy12) August 1, 2025 A user on X reminded fellow Kyunki fans about Mihir's infidelity. Kahe ka green forest. This mihir guy played around with Mandira, Payal and Meera, all while being married to Tulsi. Ended up having kids with them too (Karan I think). Ewwww max #KyukiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi2 — Quinzel💋🐈‍⬛ (@Maid_o_Mischief) August 1, 2025 Another urged Mihir to steer clear of extramarital affairs, at least in this season. Mihir and Tulsi still have amazing chemistry despite their age. Mihir please no more affairs and bachhe out of marriage. Have some mercy this time please. #KSBKBT #ksbkbt2 — (@drnnayana28) July 29, 2025 While Tulsi continues to be the upholder of the truth, the epitome of sacrifice, and the flagbearer of tradition, social media users are happy to see Mihir as this new-age father who is open about expressing his emotions, be it love for his wife or concern for his children. Today Mihir stood up for Tulsi when society tried to pull her down for aging & reminded her n us that true beauty lies in sacrifice, strength & love In Mihir's eyes,Tulsi is woman deserves a partner who uplifts like him #ksbkbt2 — Opsora needs prayer only now🤲 (@Being_romeli) July 31, 2025 god!! tulsi-mihir are so so beautiful together 😭😍🤌🏽 @EktaaRKapoor @smritiirani @TheAmarUpadhyay #KyunkiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi — Gumnaam✨ (@RajxSimran) August 4, 2025 Tuesday's episode had a key scene where Mihir, a health freak, takes shots of haldi ka juice with his son Angad who was recently released from jail. When Angad wonders whether his father was offering him alcohol, Mihir playfully chides him, saying, "Hum Gujarati hain, ye alcohol nahin hai". The father-son duo says cheers and end up saying 'I love you' to each other, a rare scene in the Indian entertainment space. What's Next For Kyunki 2 The last episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ended with a precap of today's episode with Mihir cancelling a match that he himself had arranged for Pari after her potential mother-in-law lashed out against the Virani family's sanskars where they treat sons and daughters of the house as equals. Full points to Papa Mihir for sticking to his guns and winning the approval of both Kyunki 's millennial as well as Gen-Z audience.

Kyunki Tulsi can't catch a break. New episode, old misogyny

Tulsi opened the gate of Shanti Niketan to us on Tuesday night. We sat in front of our screens, ready for some warm nostalgia. What we got instead was deja vu in a saree. Once again, Tulsi was at it - doing her sacred morning puja, reminiscing about her sanskaari entry into the Virani mansion, and radiating the divine strength - shakti, shanti and total sacrifice mode. Because, well, nothing screams comfort television like watching a woman single-handedly manage an emotionally stunted least from the first episode, it was clear that 'Kyunki' was serving the same reheated patriarchy on a smaller dinner set. Tulsi was making protein shakes for her husband, waking the family up, and setting the emotional temperature of the household. And Mihir, you ask? He was out for his morning run, prepping for office, blissfully untouched by domestic endless emotional labour that Tulsi Virani performed in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi' continued in the reboot. Unpaid, glorified and expected. What changed? The mansion probably - which looks smaller today, and Savita ben is now a floating spiritual pop-up, giving divine pep-talks. The message remains the same: Tulsi, fix everything. Be everywhere. Feel for everyone. In one scene, the driver tells Tulsi he can't take her to the temple because he's waiting for Mihir's office run. Tulsi smiles, with tears in her eyes of course, and tells him to wait for Mihir because, "Kaam zaroori hoga." And just like that, 2025 collapses into reboot of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' promised nostalgia, but delivered domestic dysfunction. Even after 25 years, Tulsi is still the default problem-solver in the reboot continues to romanticise the idea of an all-sacrificing woman. While their chemistry is nada, the dynamic between Tulsi and Mihir is lopsided. Women still want to sabotage other women for power and validation. Gayatri kaki - remember the dancing one? - is back, and now she is furious that Tulsi is in charge again. Her prayer? That a "toofan" arrives to show Tulsi her place. How very 2025 of we want women in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' reboot to be fighting over control and status? Do we want to see 'Kyunki' normalising the idea that Tulsi must hold it all together? Are we in for all this emotional burden? The show wants the audience to reward its rivalry, and still looks obsessed with control. Also, is someone in the writing team allergic to female autonomy, unless it's in the service of the family? The show introduces new faces - hardly any worth remembering, but that is a story for another day. In the reboot, only the faces are new, their conflicts and rules look ancient. A girl is scared to even talk about her boyfriend, because what if someone hears? What if she's judged? What if Tulsi is judged for being a bad mother? The horror, you see. The supposedly modern or younger characters are boxed into the same regressive it nostalgia or just recycled patriarchy? What we feared seems to have happened: another daily soap, this time one of the most hyped ones, continued to treat control, sacrifice and obedience as key virtues for women, shaping the same regressive cultural expectations of a scene featuring a conversation between Tulsi and Savita's spirit sums up the problem - unintentionally, of course. Savita's ghost tells Tulsi that a father gives all his business, money and power to his son when he retires, but a mother gives the responsibility of the kitchen, household, relationships and her son to her daughter-in-law when she retires. And that, right there, is the legacy 'Kyunki' wants to proudly uphold. No questions asked. No roles can't the father-in-law hand over the business to the daughter-in-law? Why can't the son take charge of the kitchen and emotional baggage of the family? Why are the women still cooking while the men are "getting ready" for an evening gathering?advertisementReboot a classic, fine. But must we also reboot the misogyny? If the show really wanted to reboot something, maybe it should've started with its values. Oh, and please someone let Tulsi sit down for five minutes, maybe let the woman catch her breath for once!- EndsMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Smriti Irani
