A Loganair flight to Stornoway Airport had to U-turn back to Glasgow this morning after it was unable to land. Data from the website Flightradar24 shows that the LM470 Loganair flight departed Glasgow at 7am, and was scheduled to arrive at the Isle of Lewis airport at 8am. However, the flight instead circled Stornoway before being diverted back to the mainland, where it then landed in Glasgow. A spokesperson for Highland and Islands Airports Limited, which operates Stornoway Airport, confirmed that the disruption was weather-related. Two Loganair departures from Stornoway to Glasgow and Inverness were also cancelled. A spokesperson for Highland and Islands Airports Limited, the firm which operates Stornoway Airport, said the flights were diverted due to adverse weather. They said: 'We can confirm that this morning's schedule at Stornoway Airport has been impacted by adverse weather. 'Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for travel updates.'

Loganair flight LM470 from Glasgow Airport to Stornoway diverted back to Glasgow after failing to land at the airport on Tuesday morning. Flight tracking data from website Flightradar24 shows the plane departed Glasgow at 7am for a scheduled arrival at Stornoway at 8am. However, after circling above the airport, it headed back south and landed back in Glasgow. Loganair flight LM343 from Edinburgh was also due to land in Stornoway at 8:25am but diverted back to the capital after it too was unable to land. Reports suggest the planes were unable to land in Stornoway due low-lying cloud. A spokesperson for Highland and Islands Airports Limited, which operates Stornoway Airport, confirmed that the disruption was weather-related. They told our sister title The Herald: "We can confirm that this morning's schedule at Stornoway Airport has been impacted by adverse weather. "Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for travel updates." The Herald has approached Loganair for comment.
