KPWKM's 2025 Kembara Kasih Roadshow reaches over 10,000 Sabahans across six districts

The outreach programme, which began in Tuaran on May 16, successfully reached and benefitted over 10,000 residents. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the initiative brought together 34 programmes and services that were delivered at various roadshow stops, offering direct assistance to communities in need. 'Kembara Kasih also included visits to 14 clients under the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and several families identified by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) along the route,' she said. 'We hope these visits help ease their burdens, offer encouragement, and inspire them to move forward and rebuild their lives.' The roadshow was divided into two zones: Zone 1 covered Tuaran, Papar and Penampang from May 16 to 18; while Zone 2 involved Lahad Datu, Kunak, and Tawau from May 22 to 24. Nancy highlighted that Kembara Kasih 2025 focused on five core pillars, namely empowering family institutions; advancing women's professionalism; enhancing community capacity and potential; strengthening community well-being; and promoting growth in the care sector. As part of family empowerment efforts, LPPKN organised several programmes, including a parenting character development forum in Penampang; a men's well-being programme at the Marine Police Force headquarters in Lahad Datu; and the Kasih Remaja@Kafeteen programme at SMK Sri Nangka in Tuaran. To support women's professional development, the Zero Tolerance for Violence programme organised by the Department of Women's Development (JPW) was held at the Papar Community Hall and drew more than 700 participants. 'We are also collaborating with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives to host sales events for women entrepreneurs, helping them expand their businesses and contribute to the local economy,' the minister added. Under the theme of enhancing community capacity, JKM conducted five initiatives, including the Intergenerational Mind Image programme and the launch of a new Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe) in Benoni, Papar. Nancy said KPWKM remains committed to uplifting vulnerable communities through inclusive programmes that bridge urban-rural gaps and empower families and individuals at every level. LPPKN to seek additional funding as demand for fertility treatment exceeds target
KOTA BHARU: The National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) has received applications from over 1,700 couples for the Fertility Treatment Aid and Infertility Advocacy (BuAI) initiative, since its launch in February this year, exceeding the initial target of 1,300 couples. Its chairperson, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, said in the light of this development, LPPKN plans to seek an additional allocation from the government to meet the growing demand. 'We introduced this programme to help couples facing fertility issues by providing free assistance through a government subsidy of RM2,000, for two cycles of intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatment. As we know, the cost of fertility treatment can be extremely high, sometimes exceeding RM50,000. 'The response so far has exceeded our target, so we will raise this matter with the ministry to request additional funds in the future,' she told reporters after officiating the state-level 2025 Mother's Day celebration here, today. At the event, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) scientist Prof Dr Wan Iryani Wan Ismail, who has garnered more than 50 accolades throughout her career, was named the state's Anugerah Inspirasi Ibu recipient. Rohani said that, so far, several couples have successfully conceived and are expecting their firstborn by the end of this year. She advised married couples under the age of 35, who have yet to conceive, not to give up, as they are eligible to receive treatment at four LPPKN Subfertility Clinics and the LPPKN Fertility Clinic (Full Paying Patient), located in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Sarawak and Penang. Meanwhile, Rohani said the 2024 Mother's Day survey revealed that nine out of ten mothers feel their responsibilities today are far more challenging, compared with the past, due to several factors, such as the cost of living, work demands, financial struggles, and lack of personal time. 'Various initiatives are being implemented by the government, under the National Women's Policy 2025-2030, and through programmes under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, including Kasih Ibu Tunggal, skills incubator for single mothers, MamaCare, and Wanita Bangkit. 'LPPKN also offers grants to parties interested in conducting research on the challenges faced by young mothers, so that we can better address their needs,' she said.

KPWKM Kembara Kasih 2025 In Sabah Benefits Over 10,000 Residents
TAWAU, May 25 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development's (KPWKM) 2025 Kembara Kasih roadshow, which spanned nearly 400 kilometres across six districts in Sabah, kicked off in Tuaran on May 16 and concluded in Tawau yesterday, successfully reaching and benefiting over 10,000 residents. Its Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the beneficiaries included those who attended and participated in 34 programmes held or accessed services provided at the various counters set up at the Kembara Kasih roadshow locations. 'Kembara Kasih also visited 14 clients of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) along the convoy route. We hope these visits will help ease their burdens, offer motivation, and encourage them to rebuild their lives and move forward,' she said in a statement. The 2025 Kembara Kasih roadshow toured Zone 1, including Tuaran, Papar, and Penampang, from May 16 to 18, before moving on to Zone 2, covering Lahad Datu, Kunak and Tawau, from May 22 to 24. Nancy said that the Kembara Kasih focuses on five key elements: empowering family institutions, promoting and enhancing women's professionalism, developing community capacity and potential, strengthening community well-being, and advancing the care sector. She said that under the family empowerment element, LPPKN carried out three programmes: forum on character for parents in Penampang; men's wellbeing programme at the Marine Police Force headquarters in Lahad Datu, and the KASIH Remaja @ Kafeteen at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Nangka, Tuaran. As for promoting and enhancing women's professionalism, the Zero Tolerance for Violence programme was held at the Papar Community Hall, attracting over 700 participants. 'We are collaborating with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives to organise sales events for female entrepreneurs, providing them opportunities to expand their markets and boost the local economy,' she said. Additionally, five programmes under the community capacity and potential development element were implemented by JKM, including the Intergenerational Mind Image programme and the inauguration of the senior citizens activity centre (PAWE) in Benoni, Papar.
