What Time Is The ‘9-1-1' Finale Tonight? One Character May Be Saying Goodbye For Good
Angela Bassett in "9-1-1" Season 8. The current season of 9-1-1 has been the most emotional yet, following the death of 118's Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). Amid the tragedy, Season 8 is coming to a close tonight. Find out what time to tune in and what to expect from the season's action-packed final episode. In Season 8, Episode 15, titled 'Lab Rats,' Bobby met a tragic end after heroically giving the only available vial of a life-saving vaccine to his teammate Chimney (Kenneth Choi). Killing off Bobby was an 'entirely creative' choice, showrunner Tim Minear told Variety after the episode. His character was chosen because his death would have the greatest impact on the entire crew 'in a way that really no other character death would,' he said. Minear added that he purposely chose not to have Bobby's death occur in tonight's finale to allow "the audience and the characters to get their heads around it.' The previous two episodes have followed the first responders as they deal with the aftermath of Bobby's death and their return to work saving lives. Bobby's co-workers and loved ones came together to attend his heartbreaking funeral, even as each of them struggles with their own grief. Chimney is grappling with survivor's guilt. Buck is clashing with Eddie (Ryan Guzman), who returned for Bobby's funeral after leaving for El Paso to reconnect with his teenage son. Buck is also still trying to make sense of Bobby's final words: 'They're going to need you.' Now a widow, Athena tries to distract herself with work by taking on a case connected to Bobby, but ultimately breaks down to Henrietta Wilson (Aisha Hinds.) 'If you love someone, you're honest with them. You respect them. You trust that they can make the hard decisions,' Athena said in Season 8, Episode 16, 'The Last Alarm." 'You don't just blindside them and then take off. You don't leave them to deal with the mess — alone. He's not supposed to be dead, Hen. He stood here in this kitchen that morning, planning our future. And he just left. He left me.' Chiquita Fuller and Jennifer Love Hewitt in "9-1-1" Season 8. The 9-1-1 Season 8 finale will air at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 15, 2025, on ABC. It will also be available to stream the following day (Friday, May 16) on Hulu and Disney+. The 9-1-1 Season 8 finale will be broadcast on ABC. If you don't have cable but want to watch the episode live, you can sign up for a live TV streaming service that carries the network, such as Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV Stream, YouTube TV, and more. Angela Bassett in "9-1-1" Season 8. In the 9-1-1 Season 8 finale, titled "Seismic Shifts," Athena and 118 respond to a mass-casualty event after a 19-story high-rise apartment building collapses, potentially trapping hundreds of people beneath the rubble. 'Send everybody!' Athena frantically yells to 9-1-1 dispatchers when she arrives on the scene, according to the teaser. 'The 118, still reeling from their recent loss, is dispatched to a mass casualty event after a high-rise apartment building collapses,' the logline reads. But that's not all – Athena and Chimney also have to work together 'to save a familiar face." It's a much-needed pairing, especially since Athena has been holding a grudge against Chimney over Bobby's death. Another lingering question heading into tonight's finale is whether Eddie will leave the 118 for good. In the last episode, viewers learned that he had accepted a job offer with a fire department in El Paso, where his son Christopher is living. When Guzman was asked by TV Line at the 2025 Disney Upfront whether his character is leaving Los Angeles permanently, he responded, 'I know he loves the 118, but when it comes down to his son or the 118, he always chooses his son." Watch a sneak peak for tonight's dramatic finale, below.

Hollywood legend defends TV show from backlash after fans 'vow to boycott'
A Hollywood star has defended a hit police drama that sparked uproar among viewers over a controversial storyline. Some have even threatened to boycott ABC's 9-1-1 after it unexpectedly killed main character Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) after seven years. On Instagram, Angela Bassett, who plays Bobby's wife, Athena Grant-Nash, appeared to address the criticism and admitted the shock death was 'hard.' The Black Panther star wrote: 'I know this is hard for all of you. It's hard for us, too. Peter's Bobby Nash will be missed, but his character will never be forgotten. He is forever a part of our family. 'We should all give Peter a lot of love as he expands beyond 'the 118' and into all adventures that await him. Love you, my friend. Athena will never be the same.' Angela, 66, also praised Peter, 59, for being 'kind, funny, compassionate, talented' and for becoming a 'dear' friend. In the April 17 episode, 'Lab Rats', LA Fire Captain Bobby sacrifices his own life to save some of the members of his crew. After sharing a final moment with his wife, LAPD Sergeant Athena, Bobby dies from a deadly virus that he and his other firefighters had been trying to contain. Discussing the reason for Bobby's death, the show's executive producer/showrunner Tim Menear said he felt it was 'time'. He told Deadline: 'Going into Season 9, I have all these perilous situations that I put the characters into, and I think maybe the writers but also the audience starts to get a little complacent because it's like, well, we all know it's going to all work out fine in the end.' However, taking to social media, it appears fans of the show were less than happy with Bobby's outcome. Writing on X, @meebtina said: 'People are not mad about Bobby's death because 'they aren't used to real procedural shows.' 'It's because the 911 writers decided all of a sudden that the looney toon logic doesn't apply to Bobby anymore. We watch this show because we know they don't die, that's the comfort.' @pecuIiarblue added: 'Part of the whimsy of 9-1-1 is that they survive the unsurvivable so what's even the point now.' @Thae_land also wrote: 'You cannot make a man die for 14 minutes and come back with no lasting effects just to kill him off a year later, like there's no way.' Echoing that statement, @s1mplybor3d said: 'This is the show that everyone is immortal now you killed the fantasy land and i can't be apart of it anymore.' @buddieism also said: 'It's mindblowing to me that tim somehow didn't realise or just didn't care that the main appeal of 911 is the found family dynamic being put in risky situations WITHOUT the shock value deaths that other procedurals go for… and that's just been shattered to pieces so now what.' Others took a stand and said they would be boycotting 9-1-1, including @laurischattin, who declared: 'Everyone I know is dropping 9-1-1 forever.' The character's shock death comes as the show was renewed for a ninth season. 9-1-1 co-lead Angela previously revealed her shock after learning about Bobby's fate. More Trending She originally thought that another firefighter was going to die in the lab. Angela told The Hollywood Reporter: 'It was incredulous to me that it was Bobby, so it was just very surprising.' 9-1-1 airs on ABC in the US and is available to stream on Disney Plus in the UK. Kenneth Choi fought makers over Peter Krause's character 'Bobby Nash' death in show '9-1-1'
Actor was quite vocal in expressing his displeasure over the death of character ' Bobby Nash ' in the drama based on medical first responder 9-1-1, reported Variety. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as quoted by Variety, actor Choi, who plays firefighter Howie "Chimney' Han in the series, said he "fought' the showrunner Tim Minear over the in-show death of Bobby Nash ( ), the captain of Chimney's LAFD station 118. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The actor said that he was devastated by the new shocking twist. "It was uncontrollable sobbing. I was laughing at myself, saying, 'I don't know what is happening! I know this isn't real! Why am I acting like this?' But it was devastating to me," said Choi. The actor further shared that he fought the makers for killing off their "father figure" in the show (Bobby Nash). Till the funeral scene in 9-1-1, Choi hoped for a change in the minds of the makers. "Then I just kind of went into those stages of grief. Denial, mostly: This doesn't make any sense. Why would you do that? You're kind of killing off our father figure. And he explained creatively why he thought it was the right choice, and I fought him on it. And I continued to fight him on it. I fought him on it up until we kind of did the funeral stuff, because I was thinking: Maybe they'll pull it back. Maybe they'll change their minds. Maybe they'll reverse course," said Choi as quoted by Variety. The actor also remembered the good times spent with the actor on the sets. He shared a throwback photo with Peter Krause on his Instagram handle. He wrote, "Peter Krause, you are the classiest guy, the most talented of actors, and the loveliest human being. THANK YOU, PK. Love You, Pal. " According to the outlet, in the latest episode, 'Lab Rats,' Bobby seals off the doors to a lab containing a deadly virus. We at '9-1-1' salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe. Our show is incredibly difficult to make at times with long hours, challenging stunts and elaborate disasters. We couldn't do it without each other." Why Is Peter Krause Leaving ‘9-1-1'? The Reason Behind His Shocking Exit As Bobby Nash
Warning: Spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 15, 'Lab Rats." ABC's first responder drama, 9-1-1, delivered a shocking twist on Thursday night by killing off one of its main characters. Following the emotional episode, many fans are left wondering why Peter Krause is leaving the series and what led to the death of his beloved character, Bobby Nash. For eight seasons over nine years, Krause played Nash, the captain of LAFD's Station 118. But in Season 8, Episode 15, titled 'Lab Rats,' his character met a tragic end after heroically giving the only available vial of a life-saving vaccine to his teammate Chimney (Kenneth Choi), sacrificing his own chance at survival. Rumors have been swirling about Krause's potential departure from the procedural for the past few weeks after photos leaked on social media of the series shooting a funeral scene in downtown Los Angeles, according to Variety. (Last season, Krause's character was on the verge of death after collapsing from cardiac arrest while rescuing Athena from their burning home. He ended up on a ventilator and was in a coma, but survived). Krause's recent departure marks the first major cast exit since Connie Britton left her role as emergency dispatcher Abby Clark after Season 1. But was the actor's decision to leave? Here's what we know about the heartbreaking sendoff and whether the show's creators were behind it. Peter Krause's exit from 9-1-1 wasn't the actor's decision, but rather a creative choice made by the show's team, according to showrunner Tim Minear. 'It was entirely creative,' Minear said in an interview with Variety. 'A very difficult creative decision, because there's practically no one I love on this Earth more than Peter.' As for why it had to be Bobby and not a smaller character, Minear explained that the decision made more sense in the context of the captain's overall character arc. 'It didn't feel arbitrary, because if you track the tragic arc of his character, of where he started, and how he came to LA looking for atonement, it just makes a kind of tragic sense for his character in a way it wouldn't for another character,' he explained. 'But also, I just didn't want to go small. Not that any of the characters are small, but Bobby's death affects every single character's story in a way that really no other character death would.' In a statement, Krause said it was his "honor' to play Nash. He acknowledged that many fans are upset over his character's death and admitted they have every right to be, noting that viewers have followed Bobby through storylines involving 'grief, guilt, anger and addiction while exploring his relationship with a higher power, forgiveness and grace.' 'That said, it was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show. Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this," he continued. "First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them. We at '9-1-1' salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe. Our show is incredibly difficult to make at times with long hours, challenging stunts and elaborate disasters. We couldn't do it without each other.' He added, 'I will miss all my 9-1-1 family. Our incredible crew whose professional excellence is second to none. All the writers who keep pulling rabbits out of hats. All the directors tasked with the same. All the incredible guest cast over the years as well as Jennifer Love Hewitt and the cast in the call center.' The actor concluded his statement with: 'This has been one wild adventure. I thank you all, with all my heart." Bobby's death took place during the second half of ABC's special two-part episode, which aired Thursday, April 17. As Chimney's condition worsened after being exposed to a rare and deadly virus from a massive lab explosion, Buck (Oliver Stark) and Athena (Angela Bassett) raced to track down the only dose of antidote available. But in the episode's final moments, it was revealed that Captain Bobby Nash's protective suit had been compromised. So he too, had been infected. Bobby revealed he had kept his infection a secret to protect his team. While coughing up blood, he shared an difficult goodbye with Buck and his wife, Athena. In his final moments, he walked to a table, knelt down, and clasped his hands in prayer before the virus took his life. Minear told Variety that he had to pitch Bobby's death scene to 'the highest levels' before it was officially approved. 'I had to convince everybody about this,' Minear explained. 'The network was not like, 'Yeah, get rid of him, it'll save us money.' It was nothing like that. I had to pitch this at the highest levels and just walk through the whole story and try to infect them — funny choice of words, given the storyline — because, as I pitched it, you could understand, as a writer, how suddenly the whole world felt more alive. It felt more real because this thing had happened.' As for what's next for 9-1-1, Bassett told Variety she has 'not dared' to ask Minear about what comes next. "But part of me can't help but think that that means more is going to land on Athena's shoulders.' She also added that she's pretty sure Athena is 'probably done' with relationships. Meanwhile, Minear told the outlet that he purposely chose not to have Bobby's death occur in the Season 8 finale to allow "the audience and the characters to get their heads around it.' 'I'm not saying that the last three episodes are a therapy session, much,' he clarified. 'There's still thrilling adventures and high-stakes first-responder action taking us into our finale, but every single episode of the next three, they're all about Bobby's death.' 9-1-1 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. New episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.

9-1-1 season 8 features major character death as Tim Minear teases emotional fallout and season 9
The latest episode of 9-1-1, titled 'Lab Rats,' delivered a major shock with the death of Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), marking the first major character exit in the show's run. According to showrunner Tim Minear, the decision to kill off Bobby was driven by creative reasons as the show heads into its ninth season. 'It just felt like it was time,' Minear told TV Insider's Meredith Jacobs, adding that Bobby's arc was about redemption and sacrifice, and his final moments reflect that journey. Bobby's death plays out in an emotional farewell, as he sacrifices himself after exposure to a deadly virus. With no antiviral left, he tells Athena (Angela Bassett), 'I don't want to go. If I could choose, I would stay with you always.' The moment ends with Bobby kneeling in prayer, followed by the somber image of his helmet beside a body bag. Minear confirmed the decision wasn't due to Krause wanting to leave. He had informed the actor a month before telling the rest of the cast. Though difficult for the team, Minear felt the loss made the world of the show feel more real. Bobby will appear again this season through flashbacks or visions, but his death is final. Grief will shape the remaining episodes of Season 8 as each character copes in their own way. Athena will struggle with her loss, Chimney faces intense survivor's guilt, and Buck wrestles with uncertainty in Bobby's absence. Minear hinted that the finale will feature a major emergency, forcing the team to push through their pain to save lives. While Hen may temporarily fill the leadership gap, Minear confirmed that decisions about who will lead the 118 long-term will unfold in Season 9.
