Upcoming Rides for the Rise Motor Music Festival aims to raise money for Erie youth
The City of Erie will host a one-day event this summer that aims to inspire and empower young people to get involved in the community and provide positive opportunities for Erie's youth. Save the Youth 814 is teaming up with the City of Erie to bring Rides for the Rise Motor Music Festival to Erie on Saturday, July 19. Dozens enjoy final day of Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival Sunday The one-day event will kick off at noon with a motorcycle parade on Erie's west side and end at the bayfront's Reebich Investments Amphitheater. Participants can enjoy live musical performances, food from local food trucks and so much more from noon until 8 pm. Lake Erie Ale Trail hosts 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event Portions of the proceeds from the event will go toward programs for youth like academic support, mentoring programs, cultural enrichment programs and recreational activities that help prevent delinquency. 'One of the biggest takeaways for us in our new vision is for it to be focused on what Erie has to offer. And with your support, we'll be able to take those funds and make a brighter future for our youth, which will enhance erie as a whole,' said Lanisha Chimenti, treasurer of Save the Youth 814. ‘It's just amazing' — Penn State Behrend helps community with annual rummage sale
It was a day of finding hidden treasure at a local college. Penn State Behrend held their 14th annual trash to treasure event at the Junker Center on Saturday. Lake Erie Ale Trail hosts 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event College students and other community members were able to donate gently used items while clearing out their dorms. This popular rummage sale benefits the United Way of Erie County and its mission to break the cycle of poverty through the community school model. Erie Women's Care Center hosts annual Baby Bottle Campaign 'They walk out with armfuls of clothing, it's just amazing, but there's a need for it, whether it's for their family or someone else who needs it, some people come in here, they've got relatives that are ill and need some things, and there's always something. We all have junk that we need to get rid of, but it's somebody else's treasure,' said Brian Streeter, director of athletics at Penn State Behrend. Leftover items were donated to the Salvation Army. Dozens enjoy final day of Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival Sunday
The Downtown Edinboro Art & Music Festival wrapped up Sunday night as attendees caught a final show before its return next year. Despite the cold, rainy weather, dozens of people showed up at Goodell Gardens on Route 6 for the final day of the festival. Young artists showcase their masterpieces at 'What Art You' gallery Attendees were invited to grab a snack from one of several food trucks, dance with some friends to live music or shop from the many vendors set up around the venue. One vendor said the weekend has been busy with shoppers, and the festival has been a good way to showcase his photography. Lake Erie Ale Trail hosts 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event 'Oh, I love it, you end up getting into a lot of long conversations with people you haven't seen in a while, but that's cool. It's kind of a reunion of sorts. A lot of family members of mine came in, so that was cool, but in general, watching the music and seeing the art and kind of like kicking off spring, it's a great, great weekend,' said John Roden, a vendor. Local girl holds fundraiser for St. Jude in hopes of helping kids her age beat cancer
One local 11-year-old is on a mission to help others her age battle and defeat cancer. Keira Totleben held a fundraiser to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on Saturday. Lake Erie Ale Trail hosts 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event Totleben organized a Chinese action with over 40 baskets, as well as a bake sale. Several local businesses contributed to the Chinese auction, which helped her get closer to her goal. Lake Erie Ale Trail hosts 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event
Fun was brewing at Waldameer Park Saturday evening. The 7th annual Beer Coaster fundraising event, organized by the Lake Erie Ale Trail, saw dozens of beer enthusiasts coming to sample local beer. John Oliver, HBO's late-night host, to give Erie SeaWolves a complete rebrand Ten breweries from the region offered samples, and some even collaborated to create new beers for the event. Funds raised will help the Lake Erie Ale Trail send breweries to summer events and make events like Beer Coaster possible. YADO, Premiere Performance 'pop and sizzle' during free concert Saturday 'It all stems from the breweries that make up the ale trail. They were here first. The ale trail was formed because of them, but with seventeen of us within forty miles of Lake Erie, it really brings together the close-knit community that we have, including the brewers, the staff, the brewery owners, and also the people that you see here,' said Kristin Hubert, executive director of the Lake Erie Ale Trail.
