Kanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing projects at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Expressing dissatisfaction, the district magistrate stated that the first instalment of Rs 2.51 crore was released almost five months ago but no construction has been done on the ground floor. During the inspection, the DM also reviewed the status of the renovation work in the surgery block. This project, costing Rs 3.79 crore was supposed to be completed by May 31, but it still remains unfinished. The DM instructed that the work must be completed by September 30 at all cost. He also reviewed the progress of the approved works in the orthopaedic block and the maternity ward and directed the officers to complete the works promptly. . TNN

The assault caused severe head trauma, with the girl's scalp splitting into four sections and exposing her skull. She also suffered a deep wound above her eyebrow. Principal Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Dr Sanjay Kala, personally attended to her injuries. Dr Manish Singh, Neurosciences head, and gynaecology specialists were consulted. While CT scan and abdominal ultrasound results are normal, the patient remains unconscious with head and facial injuries. A team of specialists continues to monitor her condition. Kanpur: Four people, including three from a family, died in a road accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district on Sunday afternoon. Three persons, including two men and two women, died at the scene, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment. On being informed, the police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They were travelling from Lucknow to Ghaziabad. A high-speed car rammed into a container truck at kilometre 230 of the expressway causing immediate death of three passengers—Vinay Pathak (52), Umesh Kumar (45), and Seema Upadhyai (55). Seema's daughter, Arushi Upadhyai (26), who was injured in the accident, was rushed to Tirwa Medical College. She was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed. The car occupants were travelling from Lucknow to Ghaziabad. Circle officer (CO) Bangarmau Arvind Chaurasia said around 1pm on Sunday, the police received information about the accident. Meanwhile, the fourth deceased has been identified as Umesh Kumar, but his relation with the other deceased and address is still unknown, said the CO. The CO stated that the car involved in the accident, number UP 14 FK 4045, is registered under the name of Pooja Mishra from Ghaziabad. It is estimated that the car was at a high speed. The airbags opened during the collision, but the impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked.
