2025 Langer Trophy live stream: Palm Beach Currumbin SHS v Keebra Park SHS, Round 7
The annual Gold Coast derby takes on a whole new meaning as the wildest week in Langer Trophy history kicks off. Any of four schools finish second on the ladder, with a guaranteed finals bye week, or miss out on the finals entirely. It sounds absurd but a season of twists and turns has forged an almighty ladder logjam where only minor premier Keebra Park is safe from being bundled out of the finals the week before they begin. That is why Palm Beach Currumbin coach Tim Maccan has hailed the Langer Trophy as Australia's greatest school footy competition, and why his school will fight to break arch rival Keebra Park's unbeaten streak at Burleigh on Tuesday. The clash will be exclusively live streamed FREE on KommunityTV and A Reds win of any scale will lock in a finals bye or a semi-final against the Titans Cup winners, and Langer Trophy finals qualifiers, Marymount College, as reward for finishing second or third. A heavy loss could see Palm Beach tumble out of the tournament's top five and end its national championship defence by Wednesday. 'It's always a special occasion playing Keebra Park … but it does have a bit of extra special meaning this week,' Maccan said on the eve of the Gold Coast's biggest school sporting rivalry. 'It will be the biggest games of some of these kids' lives playing for the school, 100 per cent. 'This potentially could be their last game of senior footy for their school so it's definitely going to have some meaning, that's for sure. 'It's basically a grand final because if we don't play well and put ourselves in a position to win the game, we will fall down the ladder or possibly even out of the finals altogether. 'The boys are aware of that and know they have to play well.' Defeat would give the school a best-case scenario finish of fourth but the possibility exists (if PBC lose, Marsden beat Mabel Park, Ipswich beat Stretton and Wavell tie Redcliffe) that the national champions could be eliminated on points differential. Maccan is keeping it simple for his students: take the fight to Keebra in the biggest game the school has played since last year's national decider and the equation will take care of itself. 'It's really encouraging that the competition is so tight,' the coach said. 'It just goes to show the southeast Queensland competition is probably the best in Queensland and possibly in Australia. The quality of teams and the tightness of the competition, the evidence is there for the latter. 'It's definitely a game on the calendar the boys look forward to, and it does draw a big crowd from both schools, but with where we're sitting in third spot we need to put in a good performance to make sure we cement a position in the finals. 'It would be good to finish second (on the Langer ladder) but more importantly we just want to finish on a high note.' Titans-contracted backrower Kobe Hauraki will undergo a fitness test to make his Langer Trophy debut for the school against Keebra. Originally published as

2025 Langer Trophy: What Kulikefu Finefeuiaki said to inspire the Ipswich SHS captain Xzavier Timoteo
Don't miss out on the headlines from Local sport. Followed categories will be added to My News. At Ipswich SHS's pre-season launch of the school's rugby league season, Dolphins ace and Ipswich SHS past captain Kulikefu Finefeuiaki took current Ipswich skipper Xzavier Timoteo aside from a chat. They laughed and they joked, hamming it up on a celebration of the Ipswich SHS rugby league community. But two words of advice Finefeuiaki struck a match with Timoteo, the Sydney Roosters-signed prop who was named in the Australian schoolboys side last Saturday. One related to the importance of hitting Roosters pre-season training at the end of the year as fit as he could possibly be. The other piece of advice related to maintaining a good diet, which struck a cord given Timoteo was once a 'small, fat kid.'' 'I was. You can ask the coaches. I was very over weight in Years 7, 8 and 9,'' said Timoteo, a lover of his mum's lasagne and potato bake. But with encouragement from the Ipswich SHS teacher, Timoteo transformed himself into one of the most feared forwards in his age group. Indeed the coaches have helped make Timoteo into the player - and person - he is today. 'My coaches are more like my big brothers. They will always take time out of their day to help you,'' he said. Timoteo also has Finefeuiaki's desire to run hard, or 'run the bust'' as he calls it. 'I've learnt to do it. It (running hard) has come with confidence probably.'' Xzavier Ttimoteo is the Ipswich SHS Langer Trophy captain who made the Aussie schoolboys. Picture, John Gass With advice from Finefeuiaki ringing in his ears, Timoteo, the Souths Acacia Ridge Magpies junior, shone for the Queensland schoolboys recently and was one of five young Maroons to make the Aussie schoolboys side. The other were Mountain Creek SHS middle forward Jackson Koina (Parramatta), PBC SHS Kiwi centre recruit Antonie Verhoeven (Broncos), Marsden SHS hooker ace Hayden Watson (Storm) and Keebra Park SHS's New Zealand eligible fullback, David Bryenton (Canterbury Bulldogs, 18th man). The Australian schoolboys squad: 1. Cameron Bamblett (Parramatta Eels) 2. Filipe Fakauaho (Sydney Roosters) 3. Toby Winter (Newcastle Knights) 4. Dayne Jennings (South Sydney Rabbitohs) 5. Antonie Verhoeven (Brisbane Broncos) 6. Callum Grantham (Cronulla Sharks) 7. Toby Batten (The Dolphins) 8. Jackson Koina (Parramatta) 9. Liam Bell (Sydney Roosters) 10. Jake White (Cronulla Sharks) 11. Pheonix Godinet (Wests Tigers) 12. Darcy Smith (Sydney Roosters) 13. Thomas Dellow (Cronulla Sharks) Interchange 14. Hayden Watson (Melbourne Storm) 15. Roman Tuaimau (Canberra Raiders) 16. Xzavier Timoteo (Sydney Roosters) 17. Christoper Petrus (Parramatta Eels) 18. David Bryenton (Canterbury Bulldogs)

2025 Langer Trophy live stream: Wavell SHS v Marsden SHS, Round 5
Don't miss out on the headlines from NRL. Followed categories will be added to My News. PLEASE NOTE: The Langer Trophy clash between Marsden SHS and Wavell SHS has been postponed due to the heavy deluge in Queensland's southeast. We will provide a new date for the match when available. Marsden SHS will confront the last chance saloon on Wednesday when they face Langer Trophy premiership contenders Wavell SHS. Put simply, Marsden have to win to stay in finals contention after claiming just one victory over the first month of footy. With only the top five progressing into the finals following a competition revamp, Marsden cannot afford to lose even one of their remaining three games. The Langer Trophy clash between Marsden and Wavell will be available live and free on KommunityTV from 4.30pm. The cavalry is on the way, with two of their state schoolboy players, forwards Mace Andrew and Tupou Francis, ruled fit to play. And Marsden will need all hands on deck against a Wavell side which looms as a top three finisher this season. Wavell look to be dark horses for the title, having narrowly lost to competition pacesetters Keebra Park by just four points during round three. Marsden's Mace Andrew is a confirmed starter after playing a staring role for Queensland during the ASSRL Under-18 National Championships. Picture: Courtney Thomson Wavell has all bases covered, including around the spine where fullback Timahna Tandy and halves Charlie Webb and Payton Gifford were benefiting from a mobile pack motivated on both sides of the ball. Wavell also has running strike power through the backs.
