Shakira's Boston concert cancelled at last minute

Shakira's concert in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday night (29.05.25) was cancelled just hours before she was due to take to the stage. The pop superstar had been due to take her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour' to the city's fabled Fenway Park venue, but the gig was called off at the last minute with organisers offering refunds and putting the cancellation down to "unforeseen circumstances". Another concert featuring Jason Aldean and Brooks Dunn scheduled for Friday (30.05.25) was also scrapped. A statement posted on Fenway Park's social media pages explained: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th, respectively, at Fenway Park have been canceled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience." No further details were given but reports suggest the gigs were cancelled due to structural problems at the venue. A source told PEOPLE: "During a routine pre-show check, structural elements were identified as not being up to standard, so the shows were canceled. All team members are safe." A number of comments posted on Fenway's social media statement suggested there was a problem with the stage roof, but officials have not commented on the suggestion. Both shows were part of the Fenway Concert Series which was due to kick off with Shakira's show on Thursday (29.05.25). The concert series runs until September and also features acts including Hozier, The Lumineers, the Jonas Brothers, Chris Brown, The Who, and My Chemical Romance. Hozier is the next act due to take to the stage at Fenway Park with two gigs scheduled for 23 and 24 June. Shakira had already travelled to Boston before the show was cancelled. She announced her arrival in the city on Wednesday (28.05.25) by sharing a picture of a table full of sweet treats on her Instagram page and writing: "Hello, Boston! What a sweet welcome!" The pop star is due to return to the stage on Saturday (31.05.25) at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. The 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour' kicked off in Brazil in February and the North American leg of the tour started in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 13 . It will include stops in cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and more before concluding on June 30 in San Francisco, California. The tour will then go to Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Peru.

Shakira's On-Stage Fall Goes Viral, But Fans Say She 'Handled It Like A Boss'

A recent stop on Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour" didn't go quite as planned, but the global superstar proved once again why she's one of the most beloved performers in the business. On Tuesday, May 20, while performing at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Shakira experienced a mid-show mishap. During her performance of the 2001 classic "Whenever, Wherever," fan footage shared to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, shows the 48-year-old icon lose her balance while swaying on stage and slip sideways onto the ground, just as she was about to start singing the first verse. But in true Shakira fashion, the fall didn't faze her. The "Waka Waka" star quickly stood up and continued performing without missing a beat, drawing praise across social media for her grace and resilience. She even acknowledged the slip herself by reposting the fall in a now-expired Instagram Stories, according to fans who captured it on X. "She handled it like the boss that she is," one fan wrote. Another added, "A great example of resilience! I hope she didn't get injured. Such falls cause pains and injuries the next morning." A third user simply called her "Mother." One more fan noted, "Shakira, the queen of turning falls into unforgettable moments, how great!" This isn't the first hiccup Shakira has faced on her current tour. Back in February, the singer was forced to cancel a show in Peru after being hospitalized for an abdominal issue. She shared the news via Instagram Stories on February 16, explaining that her doctors advised her to cancel her scheduled performance that night at the National Stadium in Lima, the first of two back-to-back shows in the city. Despite the setbacks, Shakira's tour has been an electrifying celebration of her latest album "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran," and her Montreal slip has only endeared her more to fans who admire her ability to power through with confidence and charisma. As expected, one of the most significant moments of the concert is when she belts out her iconic hit, "Hips Don't Lie." "That's a song that is timeless and performed for every single tour and every single performance," she told USA Today ahead of her first show. "It was one of the first songs that had a reggaeton sound back in the day when it was a niche thing to do. I remember having discovered this groove from Puerto Rico and I started playing with it and decided to build a track on that (rhythmic) pattern. I never knew that years later it would have such an impact." Kicking off in Rio de Janeiro on February 11, the North American leg of the tour continues with upcoming stops in cities like Boston, Toronto, Miami, Detroit, Houston, and San Diego. "There are 145 people on this tour to make it happen every night," she said. "I've created original music for the transitions in the show, new choreography and arrangements. I have 13 costume changes, so all of what I've learned these years of making music, I feel like this is a recap of that journey." The singer went on to praise her loyal fans because, without them, none of this would be possible. "It's more than a concert," Shakira said of the impact. "It's not about my ego. It's a community and a union and a dialogue between the audience and an artist that has dedicated her entire life to making music that has been the soundtrack to their lives. I feel this identification that is truly unique. I've never seen more loyal, more militant fans. They protect me against anyone and lift me up when I need them the most." The tour is set to wrap up on June 30 in San Francisco. As Shakira's fans already know, nothing keeps her down for long.

Originally appeared on E! Online is shaking off a recent concert mishap. The 'Waka Waka' singer took a spill onstage during a stop on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour in Montreal, Canada, resulting in an unexpected deviation from her usual choreography. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) May 20, the 48-year-old appeared to slip while performing her 2001 single 'Whenever, Wherever.' Fortunately, she was able to break her fall and quickly got back on her feet to continue the number. Shakira—who shares kids Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, with ex Gerard Piqué—later appeared to take the slip in stride as she reshared a clip of the incident in a since-expired post her Instagram Stories, as seen in a screen recording posted on X. Underneath the footage, she wrote via Spanish translation, 'Because no one is saved from falls!' Since kicking off her world tour in Brazil in February, Shakira has dealt with a number of unexpected hiccups including an illness that forced her to cancel a show in Peru. More from E! Shakira Falls Onstage During ‘Whenever, Wherever' Performance at Montreal Concert

Shakira experienced a slight mishap during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour stop at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on Tuesday (May 20). While performing her 2001 hit 'Whenever, Wherever,' the Colombian superstar slipped and fell onstage. Fan-captured footage shows Shakira just about to launch into the song — which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 — when she lost her footing, slid forward and tumbled sideways onto the stage. 'She handled it like the boss that she is,' one fan wrote on X. Another added, 'A great example of resilience! I hope she didn't get injured. Such falls cause pains and injuries the next morning.' This isn't the first setback of Shakira's Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour. Back in February, she was forced to postpone back-to-back shows at Lima, Peru's Estadio Nacional due to a health issue. 'I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,' she shared on Instagram at the time. 'I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today,' she added, expressing how much she had been looking forward to reuniting with her fans in Peru. Since its launch on Feb. 11 in Rio de Janeiro, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour has featured surprise guest appearances from musical heavyweights like Grupo Frontera, Carlos Vives, Maluma, Wyclef Jean, Alejandro Sanz, Ozuna and Rauw Alejandro. The global trek landed Shakira at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Tours chart for March. She previously led February's list with $32.9 million in reported earnings and doubled that figure in the another recent update. As of late April, the tour had brought in $70.6 million from 11 reported shows, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. The North American leg continues with upcoming stops in Toronto, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. The tour heads to Mexico in August and September, followed by a return to Peru in November for the two resculed shows. Don Omar Wraps Sueños Festival With Crowd-Pleasing Set

Drawing in a massive crowd on day two of Sueños Music Festival, Don Omar cemented his icon status delivering a jam-packed setlist to wrap the fourth edition of the event in Chicago's Grant Park. On Sunday, the reggaetón powerhouse came out on stage just a few minutes before his 9 p.m. start time, eager to sing to the crowd — significantly larger than yesterday's — that had gathered to see him perform. Don Omar did not disappoint and he knew exactly which songs would get his fans going. 'Latinos make some noise,' he said at the top of his one-hour set. He was a man of a few words, letting the music speak for itself. 'Are we having fun?' he asked at one point. It's safe to say the crowd was indeed having fun with groups of friends perreando and singing along with the self-proclaimed King of Kings. He went on to sing 'Pobre Diabla,' Hector y Tito's 'Morena,' 'Salió El Sol,' 'Se Menea,' 'Taboo,' 'Danza Kuduro' and 'Bandoleros.' But a highlight of the night was when he sang 'Ella y Yo,' his 2005 hit duet with Romeo Santos. 'You guys know this song, right?' he asked, almost rhetorically. One of the most memorable collaborations of the 21st century, Santos and Don Omar engage in a call-and-response of sorts to tell a story of lust, infidelity and betrayal in 'Ella y Yo.' Don Omar asked the Sueños crowd to play the part of Santos and they promptly followed his orders, making for an epic duet between Don Omar and his fans. Don Omar most recently wrapped his Back to Reggaetón World Tour, which marked his grand return to the stage in celebration of his decades-spanning career. Day two of Sueños Music Festival also included riveting performances by Kapo, Bellakath, Omar Courtz, Jhayco, Tito Double P, Grupo Frontera and Wisin.
