Don Omar Wraps Sueños Festival With Crowd-Pleasing Set

Yahoo26-05-2025

Drawing in a massive crowd on day two of Sueños Music Festival, Don Omar cemented his icon status delivering a jam-packed setlist to wrap the fourth edition of the event in Chicago's Grant Park.
On Sunday, the reggaetón powerhouse came out on stage just a few minutes before his 9 p.m. start time, eager to sing to the crowd — significantly larger than yesterday's — that had gathered to see him perform. Don Omar did not disappoint and he knew exactly which songs would get his fans going.

From 'Dale Don' to 'Hasta Abajo' and 'Dile,' the Puerto rican hitmaker started with a bang. 'Latinos make some noise,' he said at the top of his one-hour set. He was a man of a few words, letting the music speak for itself. 'Are we having fun?' he asked at one point. It's safe to say the crowd was indeed having fun with groups of friends perreando and singing along with the self-proclaimed King of Kings.
He went on to sing 'Pobre Diabla,' Hector y Tito's 'Morena,' 'Salió El Sol,' 'Se Menea,' 'Taboo,' 'Danza Kuduro' and 'Bandoleros.' But a highlight of the night was when he sang 'Ella y Yo,' his 2005 hit duet with Romeo Santos. 'You guys know this song, right?' he asked, almost rhetorically.
One of the most memorable collaborations of the 21st century, Santos and Don Omar engage in a call-and-response of sorts to tell a story of lust, infidelity and betrayal in 'Ella y Yo.' Don Omar asked the Sueños crowd to play the part of Santos and they promptly followed his orders, making for an epic duet between Don Omar and his fans.
Don Omar most recently wrapped his Back to Reggaetón World Tour, which marked his grand return to the stage in celebration of his decades-spanning career.
Day two of Sueños Music Festival also included riveting performances by Kapo, Bellakath, Omar Courtz, Jhayco, Tito Double P, Grupo Frontera and Wisin.

Peter Murphy Cancels 2025 Tour Dates Due To Ongoing ‘Health Issues'

Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy has announced he will not be hitting the road this summer as planned, with ongoing health issues to blame for the nascent cancellation. Murphy announced his news via social media on Monday (June 2), informing fans that, 'It is with regret that, due to recent health issues, I will be unable to perform for you this summer. 'This situation is hopefully temporary, and we will be able to announce shows in support of Silver Shade at some point in the near future. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.' The forthcoming tour dates were set to see Murphy touring in support of Silver Shade, his first new solo album since 2014, with festival dates scheduled throughout the U.K. and Europe between June and August. Murphy's live appearances have been limited in recent years, with a heart attack necessitating the postponement of his 2019 residency at New York venue Le Poisson Rouge. A reformed Bauhaus would later cancel a run of North American dates in 2022 after stating that Murphy would be 'entering a rehabilitation facility to attend to his health and well-being.' In early 2023, the Celebrating David Bowie tour was rescheduled after Murphy underwent 'an unexpected medical procedure,' before he dropped out entirely 'due to ill health and doctor's orders to rest and recover.' In December 2024, an upcoming U.K. and European leg of the same tour was cancelled after it was announced Murphy had 'suddenly taken ill.' Murphy rose to fame as a member of Bauhaus in the late '70s, with their debut single 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' being considered one of the pioneering gothic rock tracks. Bauhaus split in 1983 after releasing four albums, and Murphy launched a solo career in 1986. His third album, 1989's Deep, would peak at No. 44 on the Billboard 200, with the single 'Cuts You Up' reaching No. 55 on the Hot 100 and topping the Modern Rock Tracks chart the following year. Bauhaus' reunions would result in a final album in 2008, with the group releasing their final single, 'Drink the New Wine' in early 2022. In May 2025, Murphy released his latest studio album, Silver Shade, which featured contributions from Boy George alongside members of Tool and Nine Inch Nails. ‘Wicked' Star Cynthia Erivo Fires Back at MAGA Hate for Playing Jesus

Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has some thoughts about the MAGA outrage—fueled by Elon Musk—over her casting as Christ in the Hollywood Bowl's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. 'You can't please everyone,' the Tony, Grammy, and Emmy-winner told Billboard in a new interview. 'It is legitimately a three-day performance at the Hollywood Bowl where I get to sing my face off. So hopefully they will come and realize, 'Oh, it's a musical, the gayest place on Earth.'' The show will run August 1-3. Many MAGA fans slammed Erivo's Christ casting as 'blasphemy' on social media when her role was first announced in February. What seemed lost on several critics was the tone of the show itself. The 1971 Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera has always been a provocative, at-times critical take on Christ's life, that over time became a cult favorite among queer audiences. Musk seemed to have missed that bit of information as well as he chimed in on X with an eyebrow-raised emoji in reply to an X user who wrote, 'Imagine doing this to any other religion' next to Erivo's casting news. Critics with similar complaints flooded Variety's social media post announcing the casting with one user in the replies called Erivo playing Christ 'anti-Christian bigotry' by 'Hollywood.' But Erivo told Billboard, 'Why not?' as she shrugged off naysayers. 'The more yourself you are, the more you are in front of people who don't necessarily understand, the better understanding starts to happen,' she said. As much as she wants to be 'a person you can get positive things from' since 'that is the only way you can balance this stuff,' she couldn't help getting in a jab at Donald Trump for his takeover of the Kennedy Center, where Erivo played some of the most iconic performances of her career. 'I don't know who gains what from that. I hope that it comes back,' she said. 'It's really sad to have to watch this happen to it. The Kennedy Center is supposed to be a space of creativity and art and music for everyone.' That said, assimilating to appease Trump and his 'anti-woke' mob isn't on the star's to-do list, she added. 'I want to encourage people to not decide to just tuck away and start hiding and not being themselves anymore,' she said, 'because that is exactly what they want.'

Cynthia Erivo Responds to Backlash Over Her Jesus Casting in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar' Musical

Cynthia Erivo has responded to the backlash she received for her upcoming lead role in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. After it was announced earlier this year that the Wicked star would be playing Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical, some conservatives were quick to criticize her for taking the role as a Black queer woman. However, during a recent interview with Billboard, Erivo couldn't help but laugh at the negative response. 'You can't please everyone. It is legitimately a three-day performance at the Hollywood Bowl where I get to sing my face off. So hopefully they will come and realize, 'Oh, it's a musical, the gayest place on Earth.'' The actress will take to the stage at the famed Hollywood venue from Aug. 1-3, alongside Adam Lambert, who is set to play Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. The musical is a rock opera that follows the final days of Jesus Christ, leading up to his crucifixion, seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas. The musical was initially a concept album before making its Broadway debut in 1971. It has also received several revivals over the years, as well as a film adaptation, directed by Norman Jewison, in 1973. Erivo, who won a Tony for her performance in Broadway's The Color Purple, has previously played Mary Magdalene in Morgan James' all-female version of the musical's concept album. The Grammy and Emmy winner came out publicly in 2022 on the cover of British Vogue.
